Make sure the unit is level or slightly tilted towards the drip pan, it helps with auger feeding..Once i replaced the original heating rod and use Bear Mountain pellets i no longer need the smoke tube
To get smoke mode on lerado 1000 where you set the temp turn it to the s. Looks like a 5. No need for a smoke tube. Hope that helps. Also open your cap all the way for even more smoke.
Yeah I put it on S and it smokes at first really good but then hardly anything the rest of the time. I like the heavy constant smoke that the sticks give off. But yes you are correct, thanks for the feedback.
"Smoke mode" is for up to 200°, I believe. I did a chuck on my Laredo 1000 the other day and I left it in smoke mode at the lowest temp it would let me (148°, I think), and left it for about an hour on the middle rack, then started my normal low and slow cook. It turned out great. And I had good smoke rings. The trick is too open your stack to increase the smoke. Lower it for your higher temp cooks.
Beautiful video and spot on... Thanks brother! My Pitboss Laredo 1000 is in route for delivery in 2 more days. I'm definately headed over to Amazon to buy a couple of those smoke tubes!!!!!!!
Just had my first cook with same model. Food was great but no smoke flavor hardly at all. So I ordered the smoke tube. Seems kind of crazy to make a smoker tht doesn't smoke 🤔
Ive watched a lot of videos about smoke tubes and this grill, seems like we both still have a lot to learn about this smoker, other than that my friend great video. ive also noticed 5k views and only 35 subs, you got one more from me, hope you get a lot more
First off you said you read manual open the the lid always when starting up that thick dirty smoke is combustible and not good for your food many vids on here of peoples grills blowing up like that and open the cap on stack all the way that will make it all flow
Not sure that's a good idea sticking the smoke tube in the fire pot. Just torch the end of the smoke tube or light it on fire with a lighter... Also, open your stack, and you get more smoke.
I have the pitboss Lockhart. Which is essentially the bigger brother of your grill. I’m just going to save you the trouble and just tell you to use smoke tubes. The grill doesn’t smoke. The success I’ve had with it is basically turning the temps up high to low constantly or just standing there and priming it to create a bunch of smoke. I also have a Yoder and I just set to 225 and it just smokes decently. Got it dirt cheat at an estate sale.. the more pricier grills do a better job smoking

Did the pit boss pellets not smoke well?

Do you leave it on S the entire cooking time? What temperature does it set to?

Thank you sir, have a blessed day bro
No problem, thank you for the positive vibe and encouragement.
I’m having trouble getting up to temp and then maintaining that temp. Anyone else on this model?
Mine does run about 10 degrees f lower than set but the only thing I know to do is clean the thermostat probe if it's dirty
I cannot get my Laredo to set at a low temp. Can someone help me? Even when I set it at 225 or 250, it just continues to hike up between 350-400
I would call pit boss it sounds like a t stat problem

Thank you for positive feedback and the encouragement. Yes, the longer I have used this smoker the more I learn.

You need to open your lid when starting. You’re just asking for an issue if not
Why?
@@hereweare9011 look up pellet grill explodes. The gases at startup are flammable and if you don’t open the lid you risk them igniting.
put on the S setting for more smoke
That’s way to much work…just buy a 15 dollar torch lol
Long winded video. Need to edit it and get to the point. Agree that you should not put that stick in your fire pot Bad juju

actually yes it does instead of P mode its S mode looks like a 5
@@OG_Gamers_Live lol I never said it didn’t have a smoke mode. I said, it doesn’t smoke … meaning the mode it has is relatively useless
