    Banging on about cultural appropriation. I'm glad a certain Bard wrote Shylock despite never being a Jew, and that he wrote Merchant of Venice despite never setting foot there. How sad and dull the world would be if we told writers like that, "Stick to Stratford Upon Avon"

    Jesse's comment about how deeply the UK is affected by the moods of American culture was ironic given the decidedly "woke" tone evidenced throughout his speech. Whatever you think of wokeness, it's far more a product of the Ivy League than of Oxbridge, after all.
