I'm impressed by your ingenuity and DIY skills. 😀 I considered buying a used Mobo and adapting it, even though I already have an ICE Q recumbent trike. But in the UK, Mobo aren't that common, or indeed cheap. I'd also have to pay for someone to do the welding, so it doesn't make financial sense. I might convert an traditional upright trike instead, as I bought one second hand for next to nothing. But they are fun to ride too! 😂
Idk how this doesn't have more views! Thank you SO much for making this vid. I ordered this trike for myself and plan on doing what you reccomend. This will be used almost daily. Thanks again!!
You've done a bang up job on upgrades. I'm definitely putting your ideas in my Wish List for my Mobo Triton, as money and time allows. I love your horn with the different sounds. I bought a kid's version, since I am only 4'10" tall and meet the weight limts. I will add reflective tape to the flag and more in the front of the bike. I'd like to add a hand-free attachment for a Go Pro, my cellphone, and a plain AM/FM radio to scout weather reports and news bulletins (who am I kidding, I want to play the songs as I motor along!). I appreciate your video. Thanks a bunch!
Hey john i just ordered one of these and everything you’ve added is exactly the way I imagined triton should be. Thank you! Will def use ur video here for when I upgrade mines. Blows my mind how triton didnt already have this design in its original portfolio. 😀
Been thinking of doing the same except using a old school 3 speed internal hub 26 inch wheel on the front and 20 inch wheels at the back. Also changing the steering set up on the back to work like a huffy green machine.they have a much better turn radius. But you have a great set up. Love it. Great work.
So you have one brake? I like the multi gear front end but having only one brake is a recipe for an accident unless this is meant only for slow rides on MUP's.
Very true. In the UK, two separately operated brakes are a legal requirement for bicycles and trikes etc. They can both operate on the same wheel if you want, as long as they are independent of each other. The exception being fixed gear bikes, where only one brake is required, the pedals acting as the second. Unfortunately many 'fixed' riders don't have a brake, and many BMX riders only have a rear brake. Yet 75% of a bike's total braking effectiveness is achieved by a front brake. 🙄
You could use bigger wheels from a regular upright trike. The downside is that it raises the centre of gravity, the bigger the wheel, the bigger the risk of tipping during cornering, riding across sloped or very uneven ground. All trikes are susceptible to tipping to some degree, but Mobos are relatively narrow, which doesn't help.
I admire people's ingenuity when doing such things. Whilst a fun project, is worth the time, effort and money? In reality, they aren't high quality trikes. Front wheel drive with rear steering isn't optimal. There's no weight on the front, so traction can be an issue, and extending it makes it worse. If you can get one really cheap, fine, but I wouldn't recommend buying one NEW just to adapt it like this. There are better alternatives.
Yes, but used trikes can be had for reasonable prices, and you do get a much better product than the Mobo trikes, which aren't particularly cheap anyway. As an alternative, you can convert an 'upright' delta style trike to a recumbent just as easily, and they come with better gearing, rear drive and front steering as standard. Front drive, rear steering isn't optimal. With no weight over the front wheel, lack of traction can be a big problem.

Great upgrades! You did what I have considering and I plan on making the same build. Thanks much for your contribution!!
I love videos where people show and explain the mods they have done to their trikes.

Sweet ride
Great job.
Man that's nice thats how they should have came from factory
Very simple good idea! What speed you can approach ?
Very nice!
Great upgrades
how far have you riden and how does it handle hills ?
What metal did you use for the basket holders? Thanks
Very cool
Id convert it to eletric 👍
Good mods
Now I just have to do that to mine. Great looking Tryke by the way. What kind of speed do you get?
I'm not sure but I can keep up with my Queensland heeler run

Where did you get the tire inserts?
amazon
I found them on Amazon I think Walmart has them also
You should contact the company and see if you can get a commission for these upgrades
could you put larger wheels on the rear ?

So brilliant!
Did you have the part to make it a geared bike custom made?
I used part frome salvaged dycycles
I knew there had to be a way to add gears to the bike.

other recumbent trikes cost as much as a new car this seems fun.

Well ,...WHAT ARE THE INSERTS? 😧
They are formed inserts that I found on Amazon
