regarding the Notarial letter issue, should we not also impose penalties to the lawyers who provided the contract as well?? They are costing the state a lot of money in terms of admin and having people go to households to verify the legitimacy of the relationship. These lawyers should be held accountable just like Medical Doctors can be held accountable for providing fraudulent sick leave and prescriptions as well as misdiagnosing patients

Please, the length of time it takes to review an appeal is very frustrating. I am on a student visa and was only given less than 18 months for a PhD research that is a 3-year study. My study visa expired and I applied for a renewal, which was rejected after 4 months for the reason that Home Affairs called the hospital where I did my radiological report and got the receptionist but could not speak with the Dr. I wonder if the Dr would be able to remember the name of the patient he examined months ago. Anyway, I went back to the hospital get a letter confirming the authenticity of the X-ray and even got another fresh X-ray report and appealed the rejection. It has been 15 months after the appeal and nothing has happened. I have missed opportunities for international conferences and cannot travel to see family no matter the emergency situation. I have tried to contact DHA and the response is always that there is a backlog of applications, and the Minister is saying a different thing here. The Whole thing is frustrating.
And I have a friend whom applied last year for Critical Skills with all the document but a rejection was like the GT wanted Contract which dosn't make sense how come can a conmpany issued a Contract while someone is not yet working for them after giving an offer letter which states this person will start with us as soon as his visa is out .This must be clarified

They rejected my critical skills visa stating that "unable to Confirm employment in SA". The embassy people are not applying their minds while issuing visa, unless the visa is processed through an agent who have hand in glove with embassy. Very sad state of affair. What minister saying and what is happening on the ground.
you cant just apply for critical skills visa when no company has offered you a job ,the company also has to apply on their side to make things more efficient...you cant come and say u'll find work when you get here

The real backlog is in appeals. You wait 15 months for a ridiculous rejection, and then, when you appeal, you wait months and years ...like me.

What is the backlock on the waiver application from asylum to Critical skills visa no one has ever responded to this question since 2022 december
