- This is a British PCR 2 receiver built by Pye that I picked up at the Hamvention a couple years back. I installed a new power supply, re-wired the filament string for six volt and went thru and checked everything out so it was a fun little project.
If your interested in buying this receiver it can be yours!
When I worked in the family business in the early 70’s in London we sold tons of ex wwll radio equipment including the PCR 2.
I used to modify them by fitting a mains power supply. At the time they sold for £7 GBP !
I used to have one in my bedroom for 10 years and listened to the pirate ships.

Yes ! Lisle street ( in UK's Soho ) bristled with electronic shops ( ALL gone now ! ) .... DAVE™🛑
Like the analog tuning dial layout.
Good sound.Leo.
There is a stand alone PSU in a metal box made for it by P Y E but quite rare to find
The name "PCR" is supposed to mean "Portable Communications Receiver" - so I guess this was based on a different definition of "portable" than the one I'm familiar with.
A ( WOW ! .. rare 3 gang ! ! ) air spaced tuning capacitor ( I am lucky to own one of these ) , because they are as rare as hen's teeth for the experimenter , or student's projects ............... DAVE™🛑
Неужели в Великобритании такие конденсаторы такая редкость, даже больше чем в России?
What a great radio. Could you use an external oscillator somehow as a BFO to receive SSB?
Good Job
ОООО! Вери найз!!!!!!!!!!
Sound is good through good design and the well designed bandwidth. BTW did you sell it?
