This professor, after 50 years of researching Islam, is talking about his personal understanding and view of the perspective that Muslims have about prophets. It doesn't mean he shares these views with Muslims, and he doesn't. Please note his yarmulk on his head. He is very much a person of the Jewish faith.
Not only that he's being disingenuous because the context of the prophets being Muslims is different to a Muslim of the Islamic faith, Muslims understand the distinction between the 2. Its like referring to Romans today as the Romans from the ancient world.

BASIC ATTITUDE [BELIEF OF ISLAM] IS THAT ALL HISTORY IS, IN FACT, ISLAM HISTORY,” Sharon told Arutz Sheva. “That means (IN ISLAM) that all the major figures of history are Muslims, from Adam down to our own time.” Sharon said that this attitude assumes that any Jewish or Christian religious figure, be it the Jewish Kings David or Solomon and even the Christian Jesus, is in fact a Muslim figure, a fact that essentially dismisses any Jewish or Christian claim that is faith-based and, of course, ignores the incontrovertible fact that Islam began in the 7th century C.E with Mohammed and simply did not exist before that. According to the Muslims, says Sharon, “Since the creation of the world there has been only one religion and that is the religion of Islam. So, if anybody says, for example, that there is a place connected with Solomon and that’s the place where Solomon’s Temple stood, a true Muslim would tell you: ‘Yes, you’re absolutely right, but don’t forget that Solomon was a Muslim.’” He added, “You can understand that through Islamization of history you’ve got Islamization of geography. Anywhere that was connected with these prophets, who were all Muslims [according to Islamic imagination], becomes Muslim territory.” Sharon said that from Islam’s point of view, their appearance in history was that of a liberator, that is to liberate all the Muslim areas, according to their belief, that Jews or Christians had taken over. Islam, to them, was revealed by Mohammed, but was the true religion from Creation on. (Jewish) Theologians and historians, however, define Islam and Christianity as "daughter religions" of Judaism, whose adherents claim that Judaism's role is over, and they have taken Judaism's place.

Not being a polytheist doesn't mean you must be Muslim. Baha'is are monotheistic but they can't be regarded as Muslim as they follow a prophet who came after Mohammed, which is an idea that is anathema to Muslims.

Muslim means one who submits his will to his Creator. Islam didn't start with prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) that's the huge misconception you are carrying in your head. All prophets were Muslims. They all came with the same message of strict monotheism that's worship one true God and avoid worshipping creation. Quran has chapters by the name of Abraham in Arabic Ibrahim , Joseph in Arabic Yousuf, Noah in Arabic Nuh. Quran talks Moses in lot of chapters, Quran talks about Jesus (peace be upon them all ). Quran talks about Mary infact Quran has a whole chapter by the name of Mary.

In addition, the fact that the Koran mentions Abraham, Mary etc merely indicates that Islam has precedents in the other Abrahamic faiths. We do not worship religion. We worship God in heaven. It's not all about religion. The question is are you following the same ways God wants to live. What lessons did you learn from Moses, Solomon, Jesus, etc. How did they use their lives to serve God not their religion. Unfortunately the good Dr has misunderstood the "islamisation" of the prophets. For a scholar who understands Arabic I have to question if he is being deliberately disingenuous? Because the word Muslim means "one who submits" so when Allah (Arabic word for God, not a muslim or arab god) says in the quran that these prophets were Muslim it means these prophets had submitted to God. Later in the Quran, Allah goes on to confirm that Islam has been completed for the Muslim arabs of Mecca, so how can it be that the prophets were Muslims before that? Because a Muslim before the completion of Islam should not be understood the same way. Furthermore according to islamic scripture Muslims believe that there will be many, many Jews and Christians in heaven with Muslims, these will be the true genuine Jews and Christians from the time before the prophet Muhammad Because they were following the correct guidance for their time, but during the time of the prophet Muhammad there was only the correct guidance of Islam as its understood to correct the excesses and errors of the Jews & Christians, so its not as black and white as the good Dr is saying and frankly considering that he's a Dr of Islam I'm sure he's doing some typical cloak and dagger zionist games or he's a mickey 🐭 doctor.
