Other Notes: After the 10V in Connoquenessing, I decided to head to East McKeesport to hear their SD-10 go off to end trick or treating. Except to start trick or treating, this is the only time it goes off. I’d say it was decently loud but the bearings on this thing are definitely wearing out. Unfortunately, I don’t see any maintenance coming anytime soon as they told me they didn’t have the money to keep this thing alive for fire calls. They’re probably just gonna keep running it for Halloween till it dies. Anyway, it was a pretty fun experience. Got to meet some cool people at the station. Right at 8, the contactor was pushed which explains the click at the beginning of the soundoff and this siren roars to life to end trick or treating. Once again, it was decently loud and it packed quite a punch from where I was.

Nice to see that the CD (Civil Defense) logo is still there on that SD-10, and that it still sounds healthy! I grew up with that siren as it is not too far from my grandparents' house as it is currently at Deerfield Fire Department, in Deerfield, NY (Oneida County). It only goes off in attack for fire or emergency calls by the Fire Department.
