Butler was also involved in the Bonus Army in 1932-- (BEF) When Hoover, and Roosevelt refused to pay the bonus promised to the soldiers who signed up to fight in France in the "war to end all wars"---- Hoover sent in tanks, and troops with fixed bayonets led by Douglas Macarthur, and George Patton, to quell the veteran uprising, and to break up their makeshift camp--- Teddy Roosevelt refused to pay the bonus on 2 occasions, but due to the political embarrassment, and the public outcry, the "bonus" was finally paid to the soldiers in an amount anywhere from $300-$600 dollars------

I met Max Cleland many years ago. He flew into a small airport I worked at in a gulf stream jet. These are very tall aircraft with a long stairway. The pilots walked down that stairway and placed a small pillow on the pavement. Senator Cleland then came out, no fanfare, no help even (the way he wanted it!) and lowered himself down that long flight of stairs with one arm and three stumps, gently resting himself on that pillow on the pavement. A car then came alongside the stairway and he loaded himself into the car, again with no help, as he wanted it. Now I had met this man many years before when he was campaigning for the senate. He visited my high school in metro Atlanta. His grit and determination impressed me then and watching him lower himself down that airplane stairway convinced me that he was one of the most courageous men I had ever known, if not the very most. Well said, sir. I'm a Vietnam-era vet. I served back before the Air Force let any of us "little ladies" serve in an active combat zone. So I spent my four years helping develop a new entrance qualification exam (ASVAB). It was joint effort between all services. I followed in my father's footsteps; he served in WW2 and Korea. Three Bronze Stars for combat: D-Day (Omaha Beach, second wave), Battle of the Bulge, and another cluster for Korea. His father served in WW1. As you can tell, I'm very proud of my dad and granddad. I would never say my service was as valorous as my dad's. But we also serve, those who perform administrative duties and support. We know that those who serve in active zones rely on those who type orders, who order the food and uniforms and bullets. We are all cogs in the military machine. Thanks for letting me blow off some steam. Just because Walz never fired a shot in combat, doesn't make him less than those who were in combat zones. In fact, he taught others to shoot. I value his service and yours. Right now I don't value Vance because he attacked a brother in arms. There is nothing in that to value.
So good to hear you address VA funding. After 8 years as an FMF Corpsman, I served our fellow Vets for 22 years at the VA. Under Trump, we experienced a lack of support to the point of morale being the lowest that any of us had ever seen. VA Sec.Wilkie's abbreviated visit to our facility was little more than a shameless self promotion, whereas current Sec. McDonough made an extended visit which included a Veteran and Employee Town Hall to address, and subsequently act on issues adversely effecting Veteran care.
I'm a 65 year old Navy veteran, it bothers the shit out of me that they try to be a fake military person. I worked at the James A Haley VA in Tampa Florida. As a CNA I saw the sacrifice every day let these heroes made. Thanks and vote Harris.
I was in the USAF during Vietnam and spent a year and a half over there. The the Lebanon PA VA hospital is where I get my health care. I'm very appreciative that they're there and I let them know it. They take very good care of me and there is no place I'd rather go to have my health care. I'm glad they're not having to spend a year in a war zone anymore, when I was over in Vietnam the tour of duty was a year. Thank you for being there for the vets ❤️
I'm a 68 year old white guy and I approve of your thoughts Vic. You remind me of Texas Paul and Tennessee Brando, you know honest white guys that believe in America.
Just discovered your site, and am noticing the quick ramp-up in your views and likes. Hardly surprising, all things considered. Please don’t stop, you’re my voice, I’m too old and tired to post, and frankly, my cat lady voice isn’t going to carry as much weight as the ultimate iconic voice of America - a 50-yr-old gun-toting white guy - if you can’t turn this election around no one can, and you can, just keep posting, Obiwan.

Army veteran myself. Anyone who raised their right hand and took the oath to protect and defend the constitution deserves our respect. It doesn't matter if they were enlisted during wartime or peace time. IMO those who continue to keep that oath after service are patriots. Those who want to mock or defame our veterans do not deserve my time.
A man of integrity. I've been watching your videos over the last couple of days. I just love listening to a voice of reason. From a subscriber from Europe. 😊
Spot on sir! The thought of “coward” has ever crossed my mind when I think of my Dad at 17, joining the Navy in November 1944 and not serving in a combat zone. Nor does that word coward come to mind when thinking of my older Brother being drafted in 1969, inducted into the Army, and serving his Country in Germany. No Sir, those two have been and will always be my true heroes.

Can't thank you enough for this. I always thought it was Karl Rive that did this horrible thing to Max Cleland. Your service and your thoughts are so well received. Thank you
Thank you for telling the truth. I don't care how long or where a person serves this country, they're a hero in my eyes, JD Vance has no problem putting down a man like Tim Walz but will stand with a person who dodged the draft multiple times, that tells me all I need to know. Vote Harris/Walz 2024, vote blue up and down the ballot. Integrity, character, and morals matter neither Vance nor Trump have it, in my opinion.
I'm an old Black woman who wants to thank you, Sir, for your service and breaking down what 'Stolen Valor' is!
Thank you for choosing democracy over a dictatorship. Thank you for doing the right thing for women, children and the future of America. Thank you for standing with the blue this coming election. 💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you 🙏🏼 Sir 💙🇺🇸as the daughter of a Vietnam veteran I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for explaining this in such a clear and precise way so that even the knuckle dragging, scabs that follow Trump around can understand. I remember how brutal the republicans were when John Kerry ran for president and he was a war hero but they used his protest of Vietnam against him and we were denied a great president!#VoteBlue #Harris/Walz2024🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💙💙💙💙
Thank you for speaking out!
Earned my sub, like, share & comment. We appreciate your POV!
As a Canadian veteran i was amazed to see American soldiers supporting draft dodgers.
I was proud to serve alongside Americans.
Like our army, you have your "hard-but-not-to-bright" troops, but we knew the yanks were solid and loyal.
Then i see American "patriots" acting like brown shirts from German history and wonder " who the heck are these combat cosplayers?"
Thank you for showing the world that real American Soldiers are still out there supporting their country
Thank you from Canada 🇨🇦💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Vic - you are absolutely right, there is another definition of stolen valor.
Thanks for stepping up Vic. I too am a proud gun owner and veteran of 30 years of service in the US Air Force.
Well said! I'm grateful for your sanity.
It would be nice if republican voters would actually look at the people they're voting for.
They are voting (republican) on hateful Bias reasons. Not for the better of themselves and their neighbors.
Rubs have absolutely no valor ! Well said
Thank you! This is the best discussion of the topic I've seen so far.
😅 I am 72 year old White guy and am voting for Harris and Walz. Navy veteran 1970-74.
Thank you Mr Meyers for your service first if all and thank you for your voice soeaking the truth!
💙Thank you for your service and thank you for being the voice of reason💙
Thx Vic. I love your "cards on the table" explanations of issues that should be obvious to all but aren't. You're doing a great service to the country by taking the time to do these videos.
As the daughter of an Army Veteran and the aunt of a Marine Veteran, I thank you for this post. I also thank you for adding to the sense of unity and community that has for too long been on pause in the US. 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
Thank you for clarification on what true stolen valor is. 💙
Thank you 💙💙💙💙🇺🇸
Bravo 👏🏻 Well said!! Thank you 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸🌊🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
Army veteran myself. Anyone who raised their right hand and took the oath to protect and defend the constitution deserves our respect. It doesn't matter if they were enlisted during wartime or peace time.
IMO those who continue to keep that oath after service are patriots. Those who want to mock or defame our veterans do not deserve my time.
45 took a similar oath and didn't live up to it.
Excellently said, agree 100% never attack or compare another about service.
A man of integrity. I've been watching your videos over the last couple of days. I just love listening to a voice of reason. From a subscriber from Europe. 😊
This was the best thing to wake up to! Thank you. This old white gal is also voting for Harris/Walz and is a proud American patriot. 💙💙💙🇺🇲
Thank you sir. I served 8 years in the army and then 21 years as a federal air marshal after 9/11.
Mr. Vic, you hit the nail right on the head.
Old white gal here (76). My Uncle died on the Batan Death March in the Second World War. My brother retired from the Navy after serving in Viet Nam along with my Ex serving in Viet Nam. I'm proud of them. I'm proud of all Vets for service. Last night so many of our politicians and citizens speaking at the DMV were veterans. We can't let those or currently serving down. Vote Blue.
My childhood eye doctor walked the Batan Death March. One of the kindest men I've ever known.
My great cousin was on the March and died in the Cabanatuan camp. I inherited a book called "Heroes of Bataan, listing the individuals and photos of the soldiers, indivudually and by units. What was your Uncle's name?
@@luckyneko1 My great cousin was on the March and died in the Cabanatuan camp. I inherited a book called "Heroes of Bataan, listing the individuals and photos of the soldiers, indivudually and by units. What was your Uncle's name?
@georgekatkins It was my eye doctor and he lived. The other commenter said she had an uncle who passed
I agree with you. Thank you for voting Blue and putting country over party is so important right now..
Glad I found your RUclips. As a fellow vet, we need words, like you speak here, to remind us that service to country IS honorable. 1969-73.
Can't thank you enough for this. I always thought it was Karl Rive that did this horrible thing to Max Cleland. Turns out it was Rick Wilson who came up with the ad and I've been hounding him about it. Max Cleland full admitted that what happened to him was an accident and that didn't make him a hero. He was a humble man and I will never forgive them for treating him like that.
From an old Black Woman. I am digging you old white guys voting your ethics! Thank you. We have to save our country.😂😂❤
I am a 68-year-old first time subscriber. My youngest daughter joined the Army and was a Sargeant and Combat Medic in Bahrain. She didn't serve out in the field. She attended incoming soldiers who were wounded. I am proud of her and would never consider anyone who served in our military, a sucker or a loser. Those two words belong to the Maga crowd. Thank you for serving all of you veterans that are reading this and those that are serving currently. Thank you for protecting our country. May God bless you all the days of your lives. 🫡💐❤️
Very well said sir! I just discovered your channel and have now subscribed. Thank you for not slinging insults at JD Vance in your critique. I think he’s a scumbag, but that also doesn’t diminish his service to our country. Everyone who’s eligible, please vote! Our veterans have sacrificed so much to ensure we get that right.
This 79 yearold Vietnam Vet stands with you, sir!
Thank you for your positive message. My late father and brother were veterans. How dare Trump disparage their service fighting for our country ?
I am now a new subscriber to your page. Thank you.
Thank you all for your service me and America are proud of you all
Well said! As a retired disabled veteran, I thank you for your words.
Perfect example of How to illustrate you disagree/dont follow or subscribe to -a person, ideology or policy.
Not screaming and shouting, threatening violence or intimidation.
Calm measured and well informed
Well done sir from🏴
Well said, Vic. Not able to serve, du to physical disabilities, but, I agree with those condemning the attacks on Walz. If John McCain, a Vietnam War veteran, was still alive, I'd picture him calling out Vance. He was the first presidential candidate I voted for, back when the GOP wasn't full of Trump loyalists.
Thanks for this clarification.
As the aunt of a young man who is now in basic training at Fort Moore I thank you for everything you have said 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you. Strength and Love.
My Brother in law & my 2 Nephews are Marines & they told me that; A Veteran will THANK another Veteran & NEVER criticize his service.
I have learned my lesson on passing videos that look like yours because of optics. YOU GIVE ME MORE HOPE THAN I CAN SAY. THANK YOU.
Folks like this gentleman are what truly make America great .
Army brat here , my father career army, Master Sgt First Class. His last tour of duty Vietnam. He lived to 47. This is so important a message!Thank you!!!🙏 🇺🇸💙🌊💙🌊🇺🇸
Thank you so kindly 🙏🏼
💙💙💙💙💙💙
Brilliant. Thank you for the POV.
Thank you. My veteran husband says the same thing.
I’m a veteran 1973-1977, I’m not looking for a thank you from anyone. I was proud of my service. Not proud of Swift Boaters, it’s a GOP tactic that should half never been used. It spits on all of us veterans.
Thank you for pointing out the time frame in which TW submitted his paperwork to the time of his units deployment; from what I’ve heard, it takes up to a year for that paperwork to shuffle through the process.
Well said! I never served, I couldn’t do it. Vote Blue
Bravo Sir
I’m not surprised that Mr. Trump’s campaign is attacking Mr. Walz’s service, but I am surprised he is doubting that he was a coach and I would be even more surprised if he began to attack him that he was a teacher.
Thank you sir…I appreciate your integrity… from an older white woman. BTW, I’m from Illinois and are so proud of Tammy Duckworth and her service 🙏🏻
Both my father and my father-in-law served in WWII. I will NEVER understand people who denigrate veterans, esp. When they call THEMSELVES patriots.
Thank you, sir.
8404 fmf corpsman (Vietnam-era) vet here. It was my job to go with my marines and care for the sick and injured. I have never heard of a marine worth the name be so disrespectful to a fellow serviceman as Vance has been. Walz had more time in the chow-line than Vance did in his entire service. I’m that kind of old grunt who will call out stolen valor all day long. This ain’t that. It’s a political ploy.⚓️
Well said, and thanks for your service.
My dad was a vet in WW2. My mother was a welder in a shipyard building war ships. The attacks on people who served this country makes me sick. Vote Blue to restore dignity and valor to our country.
I agree
Amen. I am not a veteran. However, I thank everybody who has served or is currently serviing in the military. You are why we are free. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
As the widow of a Vietnam Veteran, I thank you, sir!
Also Walz resigned from the guard so he could run for Congress.
I agree with you 100%. I’m of the same age range and racial background as you, also an owner of legal firearms, grew up in a rural area, and honorably discharged from both the USAF and Air National Guard. I never saw combat, but I have been a student of history, especially military history, all my life.
Appreciation and respect for those who have served their country in an honorable and forthright manner is not something to be taken lightly, and certainly not something to be trivialized for political purposes.
