“Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.”
Outside of the toy story movies, this my personal favorite pixar movie. I admire everything about it, the story, animation, messages, characters and antons speech is one of my favorite scenes in a animated movie.
Anton's quote still sticks with me til this day!
@@WolfmanArt Me too. Wise words to live by.
Anton Ego’s speech at the end is right nexts to Tony Stark’s final message in Avengers Endgame for ending speeches.
@@Starwarsfanboy0928 Exactly.
Wow, that's a good message, I see this movie when I was a kid, and I actually liked it.
This film and the Suicide Squad has made me appreciate rats a little more
I don’t have anything against rats. It’s those bugs I hate.
And Avengers Endgame
The Departed. Those ****ing rats. :)
Rip to Brian Dennehy, Ian Holm and Peter O’Tool who were all great in their respective roles in this movie. Also I’ve had this theory for a while now that Skinner killed Gustau to gain ownership of his restaurant that’s why Skinner felt threatened when it was revealed that Linguine was Gustau’s son and it would’ve been really easy for Skinner to kill Gustau since we see in Skinners office a picture of the two of them so it’s heavily implied that they not only knew each other but used to work with each other and as for the whole thing about Gustau dying because of Egos review? That was a cover story by Skinner to make himself look innocent. But anyway that’s just a theory I came up with so you can take it as you will, as far as the next review goes I honestly have no idea
I've always thought that cause that makes sense.
I never thought of that as the film never stated how Gusu died . But imagine if Remy went all Scooby Doo and fin iut that Skinner killed Gusu and he and Linguine back him in a corner in front of everyone the dinners , the chefs and the rats and Skinner flatout admits it
This PIXAR film and The Secret Of NIMH have always got me of liking those Rats characters. I always put "Ratatouille" with my other Pixar Favorite "A Bug's Life".
speaking of The Secret of NIMH I hope Animat reviews that too sometime
add The Suicide Squad to the rat collection
Tbh, if this film was released now; there could have been a good chance Gordon Ramsay would have voice a character in this film
Lol that would have been so hilarious, and actually well fitten.
I could totally see him as Skinner.
*RAAAAAWWWWWWW!*
Or more likely, a chariciture of him.
Thank you, AniMat, for "cooking up a dish", in the form of a movie review, with your compliments on "Ratatouille". It's one of my favorite animated films for two aspects: second from Pixar, with "Toy Story 2" being my #1 favorite from the company, and second favorite from Brad Bird, with "The Iron Giant" being my #1 favorite from the rebellious filmmaker! They both prove that animation is a storytelling medium, NOT a genre for kids!
This movie is on a list of the greatest movies of the 21st century
@@freecreditreport.combaby Right up to the likes of, of course, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away"?
@@BigLightning4360 idk i just looked it up on wikipedia
Yes, Jonathan! Ratatoullie is the perfect example of animation as a storytelling medium, and it was all thanks to Brad Bird.
And even though I never heard that guy, but, I still like him.
One of my favorite PIXAR movies ever made, and deserves all the love. The voice acting, animation, music, humor, and the it made me enjoy cooking, despite not being a professional myself.
Ah yes. Another Brad Bird Pixar movie. One that's one of my personal favorites. Peter O'Toole can rest in peace knowing that I appreciate his Anton Ego performance. Particularly his last monologue.
This movie is on a list of the greatest movies of the 21st century
Next time on AniMat’s Classic Reviews:
“Gulliver’s Travels” (1939)
While that film is loosely based on the book by Jonathan Swift, it is definitely better than that awful 2010 film starring Jack Black.
Then klaus and lilo and stitch
@@hunterolaughlin Agreed.
Up
After refute of Gulliver travel 1939 can we do review of the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh or Dumbo 1941
First of all, I absolutely ADORE this movie; Remy has more passion for cooking than the likes of Soma Yukihira, Vinesmoke Sanji, Lynn Loud Sr. and/or Rosa Casagrande have. I say this because he has two things in his non-existent belt that the aforementioned examples don't have, a drive towards experimenting with food and highly sensitive sense of taste and smell.
Sure, Soma from Food Wars experiments with HIS cooking...but he doesn't SEE the food in the same way Remy does.
Second of all, I know this movie is part of the list of media examples that tend to over-romanticize Paris as this glorious city. But...c'mon, who DOESN'T agree that the place looks gorgeous and the French have some of the best food out there (more so than us Americans, at times.)
Finally, I love Ego's speech about criticism; which is a mindset most people don't tend to look towards when making statements about things. They much prefer to tear something down in the most viciously verbal way possible. But Ego realizes that it's better to really give something a chance because you never know where the next big thing may come from
Yeah, but what about Chef Gusteau?
He's dead
@@jasongomez4509 Oh, right.
😐
This movie is the chef’s kiss of beauty. The animation is lush & a fun blend of slapstick and naturalism. The score by Michael Giaccino is lovely and emotional, the cast has tons of fun & the story may have its cliches but you care about the characters in it
Fun fact: This was the last Pixar Film to really use the Classic Castle.
My review for ratatouille:
The story: 9/10 sure it has a bit of that liar reveal and dreams but it’s still a great movie.
The animation: 10/10 it uses some mix of realistic and cartoony designs and food looks great.
The characters: 8/10 great characters but some characters should have more screen time.
The movie: 9/10 a great Pixar masterpiece. I hate myself for not giving it a 10/10.
i disagree i really hate this film
I really enjoyed this film for sure, but I think finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar film
@@matthewvalente5877 Are you insane?
@@matthewvalente5877 It's not my favorite (then again, neither are Incredibles 1 and Wall-E), but just like those two, I don't think it's a bad movie at all.

Only 5 Pixar films left to review:
- Monsters, Inc.
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles

All of those except Cars will get the Seal of Approval, and Cars will probably get a 7/10.

Ah yes, another part of my childhood reviewed by Animat. :)

@@FrenchFryCheese04 how about a little thing called free speech
This dish that Pixar made is a very delicious feature film. I agree that this is one of Pixar’s most successful works due to how we see the world of Paris and cooking through the perspective of a rat
Rest in Peace to Ian Holm and Brian Dennehy (the voices of Skinner and Django), passed away last year. 🙏
“Anyone can cook” -Gusteau
but only the fearless can be great
If this movie was a cuisine, it would be Chef's kiss C'est Magnifique! ;)
Three Brad Bird films down, and one to go! It’ll be satisfying to see you review The Incredibles and give it the seal of approval as well.
This movie looks like it came out recently, but it was released in 2007! Like... HOW did they do that?!
Coming soon to animat's classic reviews, Gulliver's Travels an animated film by Paramount Inspired by what Walt Disney has success with snow white.
This is the best pixar movie like toy story, finding nemo, monsters inc, up, wall-e, inside out and the Incredibles
Brad Bird is Pixar’s good luck charm!
If Iron Giant had been a hit at the box-office with more marketing, Brad Bird almost certainly wouldn’t have joined Pixar, The Incredibles would be hand-drawn animated and would have been Warner Bros. Feature Animation’s final film and a box-office bomb and Ratatouille wouldn’t be an animated masterpiece of production continued under Jan Pinkava. So while it sucks that Iron Giant was a box-office bomb during its time of release, there is some good that came out of it if Brad Bird was able to make 2 of the greatest animated films of the 2000s decade.
@@hunterolaughlin And a really damn good sequel in the 2010s
The Incredibles is awesome
@@Bob-qq7bt Both of them are, and I’m not just saying that because in the second film we got to see more of, um I mean, more Elastigirl in it!
I’m so happy animat reviewed this movie
Everytime my mom makes dinner, I always put on this film for a while when I'm eating. This film makes me hungry
This is without a doubt, the best animated film about food. Take that Foodfight!
I think the Ego character design is the best by far. It´s just an awesome design. If I didn't watched the movie and they tell me that Ego is the evil of an action movie, I would believe it. And also, the way he changed in the climax it's just wonderful.
The design of his character makes him look creepy.
This film is above phenomenal, but my biggest problem is that some of the characters like the chefs could’ve used some more screen time. Because they were all really enjoyable and full of personality.
Horst is pretty much the best one because he’s voiced by none other than Lego Batman himself, Will Arnett and also...
“I killed a man.., WITH *THIS* THUMB!” 👍🏻
Wow. You seriously haven't already reviewed Ratatouille before today at 3:00pm? I am shocked.
yo we have the same timezone
I have the same time zone too!
If this movie was made just for the pun in the title, then this would be a great example of how to do it right. Seriously though, it did a fantastic job showcasing the culture of Paris, along with the aura of the restaurant.
This movie made me not want to eat, but want to cook. Thats how good I view this movie. In my opinion, Linguini (sorry is i misspelled his name) was the weaker link, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it.
ohman that’s me snd my sister’s favorite character
I was waiting for this review for a long time
My compliments to the chief........I mean people behind this film.
I remember seeing this movie when I was in 5th grade and loved it so much, I took up learning how to cook. All because of this movie.
I can definitely see that.
The 1939 animated Gulliver’s Travels is going to be the next review coming up for Animat’s Classic Reviews
This is probably off-topic, but who else thinks Brad Bird should direct the MCU's Fantastic Four film?
It’s already been announced that Jon Watts (who directed the last 2 Spider-Man movies) will direct the next Fantastic Four movie.
@@alexmapp5444 Well… they're screwed.
@@toyland_f Not really, Watts knows how to make a family movie.
12:11 this is funny he looks like a calm men but he saw it he back for it
Ratatouille is One of Disney’s Pixar division’s Best.
It’s actually far from it
I know this may sound harsh, but I am kind of glad The Iron Giant didn’t do well at the box-office box during its original release. If it had succeeded and had more marketing, I don’t think Ratatouille would be the acclaimed animated film it is still considered today considering Brad Bird would have never left Warner Bros. Feature Animation and Jan Pinkava would have still been the director and considering the troubles the film had during its production before Brad Bird took over and saved the film, without him, the film could have been similar to the previous film Cars, an average at best animated film short of the critical streak of the previous films. I know it sucks that Iron Giant flopped at the back box-office, but if it means that Ratatouille becomes one of Pixar’s best animated films with having a fan-made Tik-Tok musical dedicated to it made during the pandemic for the Broadway professionals that couldn’t perform during the summer with Broadway closed last year and a review by Schaffrillas Productions on how it’s Pixar’s Magnum Opus, then I wouldn’t have it any other way.
;-;

Is it bad I was expecting you to impersonate Anton Ego throughout the entire review? 😂😂😂
One of my favorite Pixar films because I like that it’s about the passion of cooking. You don’t get that in many animated films or movies in general. Anton Ego is one of my favorite Pixar characters because I like how complex he is. He reminds me of Professor Snape in a way.
This is Pixar version of Over the Hedge, but better.
Both movies are great in their own rights. ;)
no need to compare and say the other is the best, they are different film and both are awesome movies. They have their own charm that makes them unique.
Over The Hedge is only good if you’ve watched it as a child
Over the hedge will get a 10/10 because of the verminator.
Reptile?
The next review is the...
1939 Gulliver’s Travels not the live action one
And Thank God it’s not the latter. AniMat will definitely have a better time with the 1939 version of Gulliver’s Travels.

I'm glad that this movie appreciated mice and rats as softer animal protagonists like The Secret of Nimh, An American Tail, The Rescuers Down Under and Stuart Little. We deserved more animated films having mice and rat protagonists in animation. That's why I have planned to make an animated film about mice and rats in the near future. 🐭🐁🐀 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤
