    What a great video. Everything is such pure Appalachian from the cooking, the music, feeding the chickens, and love the rushing water. You are such an ambassador for showing the REAL Appalachia. You are knocking down that carboard figure of how some try to portray us, and that light is really shining through to the real Appalachia many of us know nd love.

    I don’t know much about how it is to live in Appalachia, I’m born and bread in Sweden. I’v seen some videos and it seems like it’s a hard, tuff life and for many people a poor life too witch is so sad. I have to say though that in many ways it seems to be a much richer life then a lot of people in better of communities have. Personally I wouldn’t mind living there, I think it’s beautiful.

    This is my first time watching your channel. I love it. We live in Southeast Tennessee down in the corner right on the Georgia State line; as far South and as far East as you can go in Tennessee. The foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains. The next road over from us has a view of the mountains of the Blue Ridge and the Smokey Mountains. We have a small 5 acre homestead. Right now we have 76 chickens. We have 16 Buff Orphingtons, 6 Rhode Island Reds, and 5 miscellaneous breeds of hens. Then we have 7 roosters that all need to be in a lot but they're not. On top of this we have 18 baby chicks in the brooder. Hoping to have goats on day soon but we need to prepare for them. Love your channel.

Lord have mercy.. He TRIED to eat it. Salt, pepper, SUGAR..LOL first homemade biscuit's.. Well, we enjoyed target throwing with them. Sounded like a big rock hitting the trees. There was NO WAY to even think about biting into those things. Thank the Lord for canned biscuits, otherwise, we would never eat them.

After a tree is dead for a few years, the pitch becomes concentrated, is very easy to light and is called 'Pitch Rich', or 'Fatwood'. It easily starts fires in fireplaces but it gives off black, thick smoke and smells like diesel fuel. It is available in some grocery & hardware stores. I love your videos. You all are so sweet. Please keep up the great work. It freaked me out to see you pull that cutting knife out of your dish water. I learned by expearence never to put sharp knives in the dish water. Can't see them, good way to cut fingers.

    I want to know if there are any little shanty’s near by for sale with maybe a 1/4 acre or 1/2 of land. This place is gorgeous & winter is one of my favorite times of year. Especially snows & Streams all around like this. Not to deep on gorges & 2 or 3 falls of 3 or 4 ft dropping on down, & that last heavy snow ❄️. Just Gorgeous! 😊

    Here I am thinking you put a meat gravy over your biscuits and it's actually what we in Australia call a white sauce! We call biscuits "scones", they are sweet and we eat them with jam and cream on them.

    Is the name Paul? Please forgive me as I forget! Good Man & Father right there! 😊👌 I love a woodstove fire or an open fireplace. Nothing better in the dead a winter. We musta had 3 or 4 of them big ole heavy danged Pot Bellied Stoves but they would sure put out the heat. You just didn’t see the fire except the red hot stove pipes when we Add Coal in the morning after stoking it for the night. During the day burned Coal & Wood but at that time (the 60’s), a truck load a Coal wasn’t to expensive, that & pops working in the mines for several of those years got a discount. Whose turn is it to get Coal in for the night boys! 😂 daddy couldn’t keep up as I was the oldest of the 6 boys. You didn’t wanna wake up & the stove be out or purt near it either. The old house was huge . 2story built in the 1850’s brrrrrrr

    Is that just cornmeal or cornmeal mix? My grandmother made cornmeal gravy but I don't know what she used.

  • @vickydyar1856
    @vickydyar1856 7 месяцев назад

    Years ago I was told about a gravy, and if remembering right it was called jublie? gravy. You use cornmeal instead of flour, however you chop an onion up and cook it with the meal. After you finish making the gravy, you add a can of pork and beans in the gravy. You eat it with fish. Well, I guess you could eat it with anything you wanted, but I was told fish. It is good . To me anyway, but there’s not too much I don’t like. God bless you all.
