Since Rome 2 was the first game to have actual naval artillery, I think in a possible Empire 2 combined battles will definitely be possible. I'm optimistic for the future.
Agreed. An empire 2 would have a lot of potential now that technology has gotten better since empire 1.

I'm pretty sure Empire had naval artillery too, but t was just limited to sea battles against other ships. Mortars and fireships come to mind.
@@RestitutorEuropa ive played every total war since med 2 and empire is probably the most fun ive had. ig the soldiers were optimized into moving as smoothly as shogun 2 no stutter or slow motion run for the infantry would be perfect. the new graphic and mechanics would just be perfect. some big woodland mountain maps in appalachian mountains would be cool too. empire 2 could be so amazing. could even start at the beginning of the colonies and go up to right before the civil war through the napolenic wars etc.
Have to agree, for historical accuracy when it comes to battle simulation, the atmospherics, and the sheer scale of the battlefields, NTW has to be at the top!
Even visually, yes the graphics may be lagging behind the others, but when you pan out, and look over scene of the battle, for us military historians at least, it can't be matched!

Unless I’m crazy this map looks like that battle in Spain where the British forces extracted by sea, I can’t remember all the battle names but I remember that France basically didn’t finish off the British forces in Spain because the 2 marshals present were arguing over who should lead.

The half north of Spain is it quite snowy and you need to remember that Spain has a lot of mountain ranges
I live like 40 km from where that battlefield is, it rarely snows. There are lots of mountains, though.

Ok so the coalition forces failed to protect their artillery, the failed to use cavalry properly, and they failed to keep flanks secure.
Something I have noticed about players who play with the all French armies is they seem to always position themselves to surround the other team.
Seems like I witness this every time I watch NTW3.
I’m guessing that on the coalition’s side there was lack of communication and team work. They always seem to try and take a 1v1 stance with whatever army is in front of them. Also seems like it is at this point they get tunnel vision and forget about their flanks.
I saw no use of square formation or any real attempt to fall back properly.
With a map that big the fight should have been longer. Also they had that big port city that they could have drawn the French into, only one way in and the French probably would not have been able to flank there.
You have to pick your engagements. If you see the enemy is close to one another the try splitting them up. Two armies go one way the other two go a different way.
The biggest mistakes I saw from the coalition was.
1. Artillery was not protected.
2. Lack of cav usage and counter charges.
3. Letting themselves get surrounded. (Game ending mistake)
4. Not properly falling back.
5. No utilization of square formation.
Remember that when you are playing any war game leave yourself room for error. Meaning don’t commit to a battle to the point where you can’t fall back.
Players should always have a contingency in case the enemy starts to overwhelm.
I always have a rally point. Somewhere we can all fall back to that gives you and increased ability to defend. From there you push back.

just my take on this but I'm glad thwt the french players won we don't usually see an all french army win and when they do it's by the skin of there teeth and it is wonderful to see them domination the battlefield every now and then

Artillery really need to have limited ammo. You should also be able to select to buy supply wagon units for extra ammo if required.
Maybe they could even add a naval battle here ;)
Each unmarked building is 1 point if you read the NTW3 rules. That's how most of us play.

What i dont understand, is why modders dont make a napoleon 4 out of warhammer... they have so many guns and cav and cannons and modding tools, tone down the magic spells and put them on captains as rally effects... warhammer 3 has amazing seiges now and added alot of troop formations... like where r the modders?

I don't know why someone bothered sending this to you, the Aus/Spn/UK players were mediocre at best, especially the Austria player. I suspect it was one of the France players who sent it, seemingly not understanding the point of watching replays! It might have been great for him, but the rest of us would like to see something competitive, or at least have skilled players on both sides, and then if there was a one sided battle, it would be due to one side having to go that extra mile, and pull something unique out of the bag! If that makes sense!

I have a random question, some friends and I are looking to start getting into the multiplayer battles and we were not sure if there is a general restricted/limit/ban on units or unit types and didn’t know where to go to find that or is it just generally agreed upon by all players?
host picks year and faction point limit you are free to bring which ever units the army had in real life... i think

My 10 minute into watching this prediction: the French will win. Their coordination and army positioning is superior to that of the Coalition. The Austrians must NOT withdraw- if they do, they cut off the Spanish from the rest of their army (and the Spanish are far too passive to begin with).
