I have 2015 RV that came with the property and want to remove the tanks and install house toilet soon to be AIRBNB. Thanks now it is to decide what toilet will fit. Question is the house toilet standard 3in also.
I've been thinking about putting a house toilet in my RV. So I searched RUclips and found your video. Then I had a lot of questions. But so did other people. I learned a lot watching your video. I don't have much room in my bathroom so I might have to sacrifice my little vanity and sink area. I was thinking about removing the tank and running straight PVC to the dump. Thank you for your video it's helped me a lot.
They have tankless toilet’s work good as well, Thank you for the wonderful comment… You can drop a comment of questions along your toilet install and RV journey for some information, I’ll try my best help as well as some other RUclipsrs out there as you’ve seen… Last look some comments on here for removing the blank tank and straight PVC, My homework research came up with black tank removal is a pain so I never did it. That is your RV do what you want with it and homework searches help… 🙂
The black tank was closed for 3-4 days then open for 1 day that’s our uses of the toilet when we were park hosting a campground for months at a time. The sewer smell went away and the black tank sensors were cleaner and much better on reading the levels with the home ( residential ) toilet ( no ice with traveling needed ), the rv toilet we had to place ice down to clean the black tank and sensors ( when traveling ) The new owners of the trailer absolutely love the home toilet also the way it works and no sewer smell…
Did you remove the black tank out for this to work, or could it be installed with the black tank, because I'm debating to install a home toilet instead and completely remove the black tank, so I dont have to go out in the winter every couple days to empty it.. looking forward to your response..
I left the black tank installed, worked fine I left closed for few days then open for a day or 2 then closed again depends on your use The new owners leave the black tank open all the time as the trailer is permanently parked on there property and they have no issues Side note they absolutely love the home toilet compare to a RV toilet, also read some comments I answered other people’s questions might help you with other questions you might have As well… Thank you for watching our videos!
You can still put in a 2 part toilet and upper tank system if you dont have the back room of the toilet just buy a 2 part tank goes up high and it still works like a standered toilet lol
Great video. Simple straight to the point and done by a relateable guy. But could you leave the black tank open if your permanently hosed up to a septic hookup? I plan on keeping my RV parked in my yard and getting a hookup installed to my home septic tank. So it will rarely be moved as my brother wants to stay in it while we add to our home.
Yes you can leave open as I did most time with no issues Check tank sensors sometimes might need be filled up and cleaned if some sewage waste dries up Thanks for watching and wonderful comment!….
Nice install. I have an A class and I'm looking to do the same thing but also remove the black and gray tanks permanently. Have you done this before or any suggestions?
Thank you for the nice comment!… I did a lot of research and homework on removing the both tanks also talking to other full time RV’ers it was going to involve a lot of work to remove the tanks and redo pipes being at that time park host wasn’t feasible to do that big of a job… I kept the tanks in the RV with no issues. The new owners kept the tanks in the Rv and they have permanently parked the trailer on there property to much work involved to remove the tanks for them, There better with keeping the tanks. All the advice I can give you for your question, Glad our video helped your next project and Good luck with your projects. You can research removing blank tank in rv on RUclips help you as well ( there are other RV videos on my channel check them out ) 👍🏼

The home (residential) toilet worked great for us for the one year we had used it, The new owners of the RV love the home toilet… We had the black tank closed for 3-4 days then opened for 1 day, this worked great for our use. The home toilet eliminated the sewer smell as well.
We have a stationary Rv with no intentions of ever driving it I bought it for my mother in law to live but the toilet smells so Gad and we have it connected straight to our main sewage system I was thinking of putting in a regular toilet and by passing the black tank do you think this will help? Thank you for your video
I did have a plastic and porcelain toilet RV toilet both let sewer smells come into RV, I installed the home toilet with no sewage smells! also enjoyable going bathroom in RV with no smells like old RV toilet… We are full time RV’ers the black tank is always hookup to sewer and open 7 days a week when parked, One day out of the week I close the black tank for few hours after I’V poured half bottle (sometimes full bottle) of bleach in toilet and flush… after few hours reopen the black tank It should show the black tank is empty. Mine is empty or 1/4 full (rarely) Hope this helps you any other questions I’ll do my best to answer them 🙂
Planning to replace our toilet to a house toilet since were not gonna use it for travel no more, our toilet is porcelain, thanks for this video..update hows your toilet hold on,cons and pros?
The toilet travels pretty good, I’d recommend to put the tank lid on the floor when traveling and empty the tank of any water ( unnecessary ) weight…. Con, of the home toilet ( heavy ) extra 20 - 30 pounds for the Pros, no more sewer smells also going to the bathroom is more comfortable place for bottom and legs, easy clean and looks nice.
Hey. Did you remove Black tank? I was thinking about bypassing black tank. On another note, did you have to change the toilet flange to a residential flange?
To the first question, no I did not remove the black tank. I keep the black tank closed and add bleach on day number two of it being closed. Then on the third day I dump it. This allows for the bleach to eat through the black waste. We’ve tried using the rv black tank tablets and liquids and bleach seams to work best. To the second question, the rv flange was the same size as residential and worked just fine without having to install anything extra. The toilet that was purchased came as a complete set. So it was just a matter of putting the new screws down and installing with the provided wax seal. Same as you would a home installation.
Depending on your RVs rough in, most residential toilets are roughed in 12 inches from the wall some older ones are roughed in 14 inches from the wall and some are roughed in 10 inches from the wall so it really depends on your RVs set up. Please note, 14 inch Rough in toilets and 10 inch Rough in toilets Are more expensive than a 12 inch rough in toilet. Just a bit of information!
No I didn’t have take the black tank out, it’s your choice to take the black tank out… Read some the comments there’s been lot’s questions about the black tank this should answer your question Thank you for watching the video!…

Hello, thanks for the video brother. I'm about to install a house toilet in my 5th wheel camper on Jan. 2, 2023 (Happy New Year to me) but I'm wondering about the fill valve connection on the house toilet. How did you get the water line to connect to the house toilet?
Dee smith connecting the toilet is the tricky part the line from the RV is 1/2 but to short reach the toilet the big box stores sell the flex line for the toilet 1/2 to 7/8 Now the job is find a flex line is 1/2’ on both ends then find double male adaptor put seal tape as well on the parts… Can also use shark bite cut the rv’s 1/2 off slide a double male in the pex pipe use right tools to tighten the clamps down then other end attach a 1/2 to the pex pipe use a clamp ( my water heater video ) ruclips.net/video/uMaoSt1P3ec/видео.html has me using shark bite tool and clamps get an idea if you go this route… Good luck with your project You can also read other comments see if the other advice helps you as well.
