We hope you all stay safe, if you have any other areas you'd like to see after the storm, let us know in the comments.

We appreciate the comment. We are aware of wakes that vehicles can cause and for that reason stuck to main roads and tried to avoid residential areas. We always kept our speed way down when driving through waters where homes and businesses were nearby, but we did definitely witnessed more than a couple of vehicles driving quite fast through flooded residential areas.

Ghanks for this. My area in Sarasota is not in a flood zone but flooding just 3 miles from downtown and it was really bad. We got minor flooding but basically everywhere in Sarasota had inaccessible roads. They keep building concrete condos on every patch of grass available. Nothing left to absorb the water and a whole month of heavy rains prior to Debby

Thanks for sharing. We have been hearing a lot of really scary stories about the flooding in Sarasota. We used to own a home not far from Pinecraft, and we heard that area got flooded very bad. As a Person who spent the day out at Anna Maria all day, this is just another Rain event. We can have this same thing happen without a hurricane! As for Sarasota, that's where the real damage is. Anywhere along Philippi was terrible! My friend and I were getting people out of their apartment complexes by the Highway! A FIRE truck flooded on Bahia Vista in Amish town, Multiple Bridges need rebuilt as there is no structure under them anymore.

Most of the businesses on the island seemed to be open, and the locals seemed to be going about like they had been through this more than a time or two. Compared to all the stories we've been hearing about Sarasota, what we saw in Anna Maria seems like almost nothing.

If I still lived up north, thinking of moving down, I would be concerned watching this video. But as a FL resident since 1978, I’ve seen more water in a regular summer storm. On the other hand I really miss my Xterra. Not sure I would make this drive in my new car if I wanted to get home.

Yeah, Anna Maria really wasn't that bad compared to some of the other areas around here. Sarasota unfortunately flooded much worse. I always liked the Xterras. As long as I live in Florida, I think I'll always own an older somewhat beat-up SUV. It takes away most the stress of driving through flood waters and having a vehicle that's constantly full of sand!
