My favorite ribbon technique was the gather of three with a bigger loop in between. Can’t wait to try it out! Thanks!! Any suggestions where to find beautiful wired ribbon? I love the traditional red ribbon you used on your main tree!
I love the way you add the ribbons 🎀 to the tree 🌲! It is hard choose which ribbons I like the best , I’ll tried them all since I have three trees 🌲! Thank you ! You are very clever, and a good teacher! ❤
I love that you take the time to not only say what you are doing, but also do close ups to show what you are doing. Your trees are all decorated so beautiful. Speaking of beautiful, you are so gorgeous. You have the perfect porcelain doll look. Your decorating style fits your perfect look. Thank you for sharing. I haven't put a Christmas tree up, and barely, if at all, decorated for Christmas since my husband died 8 yrs ago. But watching this video has me wanting to put my tree up this year. Hopefully I won't choke when it comes time. 🎄❤️🎄
Aww Tracy, your comment made me tear up. I can only imagine how different the holidays must be. I hope you get to enjoy your Christmas tree this year. ❤️🎄 I will be here on RUclips decorating, and I hope you'll spend the holidays here with me!
Hi. Thank u for showing the different ways to put ribbon. Never knew lol. U have beautiful trees and decorations! My fav one is with the bows on the top of the tree with the dangling ribbon down the tree. This year will b my first time adding ribbon, I’ll b b putting my ribbon goin down the tree.
I thought the ribbon technique was awesome and really did give me some good ideas. Thanks for the tip and I really like the bow for the treetop so thanks again for sharing with me Joanne
Glad i found your videos!! I am not very good at making my decorated tree look so polished! They always look pretty but now maybe it will have modern pizazz!! Thanks!!
This video was extremely helpful to create bows. I have tried many times by watching videos online before and always seemed to be missing something... Today, however, watching your video I was able to follow easily and create my own bows. Thank you! Love the little tips on the bow tails cascading down the tree. So very pretty.
Thank you. This was very helpful to me. I especially liked the vertical way you decorated with the bows. Will definitely try this on my tree this year.
It is nice to have someone so beautiful AND talented to watch on a video! I will not get rid of the ornaments I have had for years. My present tree, is very simple, though very tall and narrow. I have a very tall space to fill because we have a two-story open living room. My tree is green and decorated with silver, pale white, and matte gold ornaments with white lights. It has a pretty conservative design, though I have started to dislike it because I can see imperfections things like wires and clips, especially during the day. I think some ribbon will help to camouflage this. I think maybe adding a pop of color might be nice. Do you have a recommendation?
Thank you so much Mylene! Your tree sounds absolutely lovely. I can tell by your description you put a lot of love and thought into your design. ❤️ Ribbon can definitely provide that finishing touch you may be looking for on your tree. I actually just added in some extra ribbon to one of my trees this year because it needed a little something, and I love it. To answer your question, you could always add in a color if you'd like since you have a beautifully neutral palette already. But, you could also just add in a ribbon in gold, silver or white to give the tree more texture and cover the spots where you see those wires and clips. 🎄❤️ I hope that is helpful! Merry Christmas!
This video is just as relevant this year as it was last year and I needed the refresher. You’re the best Christmas decorator in the world, I’m sure! I’ll be sure to watch your new stuff for 2022!
I have tried-and failed-with ribbon on my tree before. I could not get the volume and symmetry right. I now realize I did not come close to having enough ribbon, and I didn't need to use one continual length. I am going to try again this year. I am not certain which technique I will use, but excited to have 3 options. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching!! I am so happy this video was helpful. ❤️ If you have any questions while decorating with ribbon this year, feel free to reach out. I am always happy to share tips and tricks. You can comment here or message me on Instagram. I'd love to hear from you!
Loved them all but the last one and the cascading down I think the second one it was …were my faves. Thanks ur a big help for my tree!! Did this last year but wanted to go all out this year and ur techniques are beautiful and way easier too. Happy holidays 🥰🥰🎄🎄❣️❣️
Wow this is one of the best ribbon tutorials I’ve ever seen!! I love every technique!!! I already have my trees decorated this year but will definitely refer back to this video next year. So excited to try new techniques! I love them all ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Oh thank god I found this! Thank you 😅 I have been fussing w ribbons for days bc I couldn’t figure out how to get em just right. It was getting to a point where I was either going to give up or the tree wasn’t going to be done until Xmas eve 😂
I love love your bows they are beautiful gorgeous and elegant! You are amazing and talented! I learned a lot from you! Thank you for sharing your talent! You are Also a great teacher! ❤❤❤❤! Love ❤️
Thank you Heather! I got them at Sam’s Club. They have a different version each year of their 6ft nutcracker. The one in this video is from 2020 I believe. Here’s the link to their 2022 version: rstyle.me/cz-n/g9crtdcdh2f
Is velvet ribbon harder to work with? What size red ribbon did you use on the green tree? What is the style of that edged velvet ribbon called that you got at Walmart? Did you use white or frosted picks mainly on the longer picks? Was the garland flocked or frosted? I apologize for all the questions. I am obsessed with this tree and want to get it as close as possible. I love the way you layered the elements of the tree to change it from just standard green. That's my goal as well. You are the absolute best designer at everything I have ever seen!
Hi Tony! Thank you so much for watching and for your sweet compliments! I am glad you enjoyed the video.❤️ I will do my best to answer all your questions. The red ribbon from Walmart is 1 1/2 inches wide, I believe. It is a velvet ribbon, and I haven't been able to find it online yet, but I am hoping to find it closer to the holidays. If I do I will be sure to link it here and in future tree decorating videos. I use a combination of both frosted and flocked picks to add variety to my trees. I also like to use various different sizes as well. Larger picks make a bigger statement. The garland was frosted, and something I found a Homegoods last year, but I have seen similar garland at hobby lobby. I hope those answers somewhat help! ❤️
Hi Brittney. Thank you for the helpful tutorial. One thing though.. it would be even more helpful if you could give full details of how much ribbon for which sized tree, plus the type of ribbon (Wired or not, and the widths of ribbon. I'm in the UK, and it's much easier to order ribbon online here. Many thanks xx
HI Karen! Thank you! I can absolutely answer some of those questions for you here. I always use wired ribbon with these specific techniques. Anytime I am trying to get ribbon to hold form, wired is the way to go. I also don't like to use anything smaller than a 2.5 inch width. With the last technique shown (the bow technique) you could probably get away with a slimmer ribbon, but wider is easier to work with. In terms of how much ribbon per tree, it does depend on the technique, size and width of the tree, etc, but a good rule to follow is 4 times the vertical length of your tree. If you care for your ribbon properly, and purchase quality ribbon it can last over the years. I always say, if you aren't certain, buy more than you think you need. You can always use in around the house in other areas, like in your garlands, etc. It really ties the whole look together. I hope that was a bit more helpful! Happy Decorating! I am sure your tree will turn out beautiful.
Great question! using a bit of floral wire to secure your ribbon to a live tree is a great option. Also, pipe cleaners work well and are soft on the branches.
Thank you so much Letty! ❤️ I found those at Hobby Lobby this year. They are out of stock online, but here is the link for reference if you try to find them in stores: www.hobbylobby.com/Christmas/Tree-Decorations/Garlands/Joy-To-The-World-Banner/p/80947108
Thanks for this u wanted do ribbon last year but no one said wrap the inside branch to the ribbon wondering how it stayed without it unravel. I have cats so I wanted see if I could do it. Should I put the ribbon on first lights? I have lights round stack on top on each other from as seen on tv.
Hi! When you attach the ribbon to the center of the tree, you can always use gardening wire to secure it if your worried about it coming detached. I just use a few branches around the center to hold it in place. I would put my lights on before the ribbon. ❤️I hope that helps! Happy decorating!
And where is the link for the white Christmas present Christmas decor with gold ribbon and bow that are sitting next to your fireplace? It is around 2:10 in your video?
I am new to commenting on RUclips. I’ve only used this app for music. Your tutorial is absolutely beautiful and precisely what I needed. Thank you 🙏🏼 I am incredibly inspired by you. Merry Christmas 🎄
