Perfect is Ed's song, on his album Divide. He wrote it about his now-wife, Cherry. The Italian parts of this were translated from the original version specifically for this duet. There is also another duet version - with Ed and Beyoncé! :-)
I only just saw your reaction. A really important piece of information is that Perfect was originally meant to be an orchestral arrangement with Ed's brother Matthew who is a classical composer/arranger but the record company rejected that concept an had the backing re-recorded but Ed really wanted to use the orchestral version and said to Matt that they should approach Andrea who Ed really admires. Fortunately Andrea's sons are huge admirers of Ed Sheeran and got him to agree to singing it with Ed. The video would have looked very different if Ed hadn't had the bicycle accident and had to cancel some live shows while he recovered as the original plan was for Ed to record his vocals in his home studio and the video to be a Skype call between Ed & Andrea, but due to Ed being in 2 casts and unable to perform his live shows he flew out to Tuscany to record live in Andrea's home studio.
Both of Andrea's sons as well as his wife are in this video. He's done some duets with one of them, Matteo, including Perfect Symphony as well as a very elegant video of Fall on Me. I think I read somewhere that it was Matteo that first introduced Ed's music to his father. They say that family sounds best together and they might just be right.
Hello, the Very Talented Bocelli 'Family' just keeps coming. Amos on the piano. Matteo piano vocals and writing. Virginia on piano and vocals. And, lets not forget Veronica, vocals and dancer! At the Hollywood Bowl, I was there, Matteo performed, Solo, which he wrote. That is the second version of the song I have heard. Then...I found another post, just him in a home studio playing the piano while delivering one of the most emotional performances I have ever witnessed! I am 74. Check it out!! Hello, As you did not mention, you seemed to be looking away, as he is singing Andrea Bocelli is reading the lyrics on a braile machine. In the hundreds of the videos I have watched this is only the second time I have witnessed him using it. The other was, Stranger in Paradise with Tony Bennett. Also, Ed is attempting to use, visual (OOPS) as he "shows" Andrea the tempo he wants. I love watching the, 'Making of'...videos!
