I have a question about an 84 250R ATC that is not engaging in 3rd gear. Owner claims its a shift star issue, in everyone's experience, does this not sound more like shift forks or actual gear issue? I have never tore into one and really dont know?
The air cooled units are different, but that does sound like an internal issue such as missing dogs on the slider or fork issue. Expect the worst if looking to purchase.
Thanks a bunch for this video. It really helped me on my trans assembly.
Thank you for the explanation, these video’s help all of the 250R community.

Do you happen to have part numbers for the clips?
Go to partzilla and look up any year 86-89. All of the clips are the same.
Do you have a video like this for a honda 250ex? Having trouble
I'm sorry, all I do is the TRX250R engine. Never had an EX apart myself.
