How do people behave themselves in a close community? The pigeonhole man investigates a group of young top athletes: the Papendallers (from Papendal). In Papendal, young athletes are mentally and physically prepared to keep the country's honor high. Selected because of their talent, ambition and the body in which they were born. The Pigeonhole man investigates how the promises and talents in Papendal are transformed from athlete to top athlete all the while knowing that only a few will get to the top of the podium.

Fascinated by the prevailing pigeonhole spirit, the pigeonhole man goes on field research into the world of appealing Dutch subcultures. With a wink to the classical ethnologist, dressed in a three-piece suit with a bow tie, he analyzes the man as one of the animal groups.
