Man even seeing the black cat logo takes me back to when I was 6 years old. We had a box that was about half this big but as it went off it would spin on the ground. We had it tip over on us. Well everyone went running and trying to hide from the mortars because I was a pyro at birth I just sat there with no care in the world. Sure enough I got hit right in my chest and it knocked me backwards just enough I caught the curb and tripped backwards on my butt. I actually still have a very small scar from it but that didn't stop me from my love for fireworks if anything the adrenaline only made me love fireworks more. Almost everything I've ever gotten from Black Cat has been poorly made but because they have a whole lot of malfunctions they are one of the most fun brands. I have had several fireworks malfunction and explode like a M-80 or M-100 on the ground feet away from me over the years and all of them were Black Cats. 😹
I was expecting double that duration and for it to have way bigger breaks. That felt like two 200 gram cakes... I seriously think some of the 200g cakes I lit off this past year were better than that... and they easily cost 1/10th of the price or less.
Totally agree, most every "finally" cake I've purchased, especially the combined ones are a major let down. They have the "grams" but are distributed among so many shots that it's not that big of a show. I'd rather have a 20-30 big shots for a finally.......from my experience that means mortar racks.
Personally I thought it failed halfway through. Then the other view with your comments. I was shocked. You kidding me. I've had 500 grams that lasted longer and for 60 bucks. Sad. Thanks Cody for the heads up.
The colors were some of the purest and brightest I have seen, but I was remined of 'Roman Candles" other than the depth /purity of the colors, not much there. That said, those color balls may be able to blend into , interact with others big cakes fired together.
In the Netherlands, 1000 gramms compound cost around 80 dollar. We have up to 4000 gramms compounds. Max 25 gramms each shot. And they are connected with quick burning fuse pushed against each other.
Great vid really nice even if the cake was overpriced. Black cat fireworks is a go to brand for me. Their product has never failed me, and always has imo performed better than the competition. Large companies will try to capitalize on this knowing certain customers don't think twice sometimes on brand.
Agreed, that’s why I wanted to point out at the end of the video that I have no ill will towards the brand, in fact it’s not even their fault it’s the stores for charging $200 for it
I'm glad you said it, those were not anywhere near worth $200! Maybe $50, but even then, the display was underwhelming to say the least! Not one for a repeat purchase, and a great service to those who can buy these, don't buy this one! 😁😎👍✌
It was black cat, I've always revered black cat is one of the best well I guess not always. You tried that's what counts hope your family is well. God bless
Bro, you weren't rambling... you spoke facts. We pyro's LOVE your honesty and actual displays. You have saved me from disappointment and a waste of money way more than once P.S. My 9 year old daughter said you are super cool.... and be careful. (awww)
As a former fireworks dealer, their products are expensive. I must say though, certain items are simply the best available, such as firecrackers, moon travelers, smoke bombs, and fountains.
Here in New Hampshire, I just felt like a 1/2 an SUV full of fireworks. For 250 but none quite as spectacular as this which is why we light off two biggies at once so we have different colors and patterns
I try my best to call it when I see it, but I appreciate your comment because for some people it’s still not enough. Everyone thinks I’m either sponsored or getting paid to say good things about a brand and that is NOT the case
Thanks for saving a lot of people $200, agree just not worth it. BC is riding on their reputation. Can't get away with that anymore.. Hoping prices drop a bit with lower shipping costs...
Dude, don’t apologize. I did like somethings when I like those crackling streams that we’re going up through and I do like the color balls they were pretty vibrant because like I said in the prior statements, I am color blind and I see them colors clear as day, but hey, that’s how companies get better with their products by you critiquing them and say hey, it’s not worth the money now. Maybe black cat will try to make it worthwhile so don’t give up on them. Hopefully that’s what happens they make it better for the money so don’t apologize Cody you’re doing your job that’s good consumer reporting.
@@CodyBPyrotechnics sweet. If you ever are able to do you think you could review fountains that do nothing but jellybeans that would be bad ass if they made fountains with that effect only. Are you able to find that bad ass fountain you did a few years ago. That Hawaiian light fountain. I'm not going to attempt to spell the word lol.
There are definitely 50 dollar cakes that are much more thrilling than this one. To give it credit, I liked the variety of different effects they used.
this $200 thing lasted 30 seconds. ive bought cakes that had 15 loud ass colorful shots that were way cheaper and lasted longer than this. Hell I wouldve bought 200 bucks worth of fountains and had a much better experience than this
@@CodyBPyrotechnics it’s pretty big I would say almost the same size as brothers maximum load assortment assortment, a lot of big cakes and brands. I never heard of in that assortment.
Nice to see you call out the package for what it was, an overpriced underwhelming waste of money. But hey, we’d never know if you weren’t out there showing us the products. Thanks Cory! 👍🏻🍻😎
I've lived it before and if you don't get it exactly right it's a mess LOL. When I got it it was two for one so I got two of those for 150 bucks. Fireworks are just super expensive these days
I saw that last summer when I was shopping at Pyro City. I almost got it, glad I didn't. It's one of those things that catches your eye, and you think for that price it will be epic. Definitely overpriced and underwhelming. Still enjoy your video though, and I feel much better about passing it up.
You could see Cody lit both fuses at the exact same time but the cakes were so out of sync. The whole point of these things is to try to replicate a Class B cake and this thing fell so short. I get they can't make a Witch Doctor but this thing wasn't even trying.
What sucks is sometimes on these compound cakes, the duration of the fuse within the fan slices in the cake can sometimes have big delays. It’s too bad that it happens but it’s very common in consumer fireworks
As I was watching it go off I was thinking this is totally not worth that, you could buy a bunch of good 200 gram cakes for that. I will probably never buy a giant cake like that unless I win the lottery. I like buying more of the smaller cakes and just sit the family a little closer, way more fun !
Interesting design. But quite lackluster firework display. Too bad they have not a good compounds in US. In last new years eve I shot SRpyro's compounds CLE4549 and CLE4546 and I paid about the same than you did for this compound. Definetly not in the same class
Great video Cody I always seen these and wondered but mot worth it now I know btw if you can demo wild hunt assortment by Raccoon thanks much appreciated
Cody B there is a bad ass company called hammer and Anvil fireworks. They are local to me in the Cincinnati tristate area. U would be amazed at their stuff.
Unfortunately BC has lost my business. With other competitors offering better quality and prices. They still hold a place in my childhood memories. But brothers and winda are where my money goes.
I’m sorry to hear that they have lost your business. That sucks, because like you I grew up on Black Cat Fireworks and Phantom. But I see your point, big firework companies = big prices
Nice colors, but it was basically just a mediocre zipper/fan. Black Cat has a lot of good stuff, it just tends to be way overpriced. Something that's good at a $80 price point is not at a $200 price point
Nice colors on this one but definitely not worth $200 lol
$200??????

Wow what a ripoff.
They know people buy on brand. Maybe the cakes need to be weighed to see if you're actually getting that amount of powder.
I enjoy the honesty in your videos and not overhyping things to grab attention.
I really appreciate your honesty! For 200 bucks that was a rip off

Crazy to think that the legit compounds like 4/1 version of witch are only 80 dollars more than this
I do agree it isn’t worth the money. I did like the sort of continuous crackle effect. It kept goin for a while which was my favorite part.
Still good times but ooooof that’s rough 😢
It lovely cake
Why not cut down the sides of the box so that it doesn't block the outermost tubes? It bugs me. 😅
I was totally thinking the same thing....although I think it still wouldn't be the best cake out there.
