When Martin comes in with the backup vocals the song really hits heavy.

I have dedicated this song to my mother who died in 2010. She was death sick in 2009 when this song came out, and it perfectly describes her whole life in three minutes. Depeche Mode have always written hymns of life that have accompanied me since 1981 when I was 14 year old. The bible of intelligent and sensual music.

I was a very hardcore DM fan long before this song came up, but until this day it became my favorite DM song of all time. It’s just perfect.

One of the few post-Wilder tracks that really stands up as good as anything else they've done...a bit clinical sounding with the modern day SMT synths though, if they stuck some gritty EMAX on this it would have been perfect

Gore’s definitely familiar with astrology, this song is about the endless choices we have to make in our life in the name of God. Only Martin could put it on lyrics so precise, when every word is in the RIGHT place♥️
Wow this is really cool
The lyrics of this song really get to me, seem very appropriate at times nowadays, this guys are amazing artists and musicians, I recently paid tribute to them by doing a live looping cover of this track, with weird synths and a bit more "heavy rock" sound, I'll leave the link in the comments below in case anyone wants to check it out!

As humans, with the specific way we evolved, are able of both great empathy and great vileness, we come up with these nicely packaged colloquialisms and ideas that things work out in the end.
From religion, karma, zodiac signs etc, to try to come to some kinda idea that things are okay, that things work out for everyone in the end. That everyone's life somehow equals out in suffering and happiness .....

Some peoples lives really are like this song. And to me, instead of saying "The universe will take care of it" I want to instead share any fortunate circumstance I come across with as many as I can after I'm taken care of. Why should I have excess while others have nothing? Even if it was "their fault" I have nothing to lose by sharing what I do not need. Some people do just get the short end of the stick. There is no greater power or purpose or control. Sometimes people are just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and instead of either trying to soothe our conscience with an idea of karma, god or the other side of the coin saying "That's life, shit happens" (which I usually only hear people who are doing well at the time even say) how about realize instead that if you are doing well, you are simply lucky and someone who isn't is unlucky. Nothing more or less.
A roll of the dice, draw of the cards. I want to share my riches with those who simply either got a bad roll, or didn't even have a chance to see what their luck would bring.
In the future, we'll understand why we used to excuse suffering through all these superstitious means, but it will be no less tragic and we'll still mourn all the lives lost through sheer bad luck/chance and that many did nothing about it.

When I first started at Wendy’s
I keep thinking Depeche Mode has seriously missed the opportunity to achieve a grandiose and phenomenal feat with this album whose cover looks like a grotesque caricature of a banner that could have been as grand as Summer Olympics. Sounds of the Universe was a good record with vibrant and titanic ideas unfortunately treated by Depeche Mode in a minimalist and moderate trend that leaves for example the immense rock potential of Peace or Wrong to be limited to some good retrograde ideas.. There are neverthless some real very well orientated tracks like In Sympathy or the perfect Corrupt as well as Ghost just a blatant classic failed on B side in ways that are incomprehensible and that prove that SOTU had all the assets to be perhaps the best album of Depeche Mode all time if its orientation was less minimalist and retrograde letting aberrations bloom where minimalist was not the solution
PUT IT IN 1.25. WOW.
Wish you hadn't (almost) all been and keep on continuing being dead wrong in your compliance.
