Considering that it's a rhcp song and John always plays and records on strats the strat is a no brainer. It's not like I've never played that riff on a gibson
@@briegleruyet4139or maybe because it’s a bright, punchy riff and not a smooth legato line that the Gibson would suit better. Why you give the fender the bright bridge pickup and set the Gibson to middle position. Are you anti-gibsonite? The song calls for a bright sound and you’re not giving a fair comparison
Great observation! He's obviously trying down the LP and make it look like they don't have great tone... Yes they are pricey, but they do sound great and the added status of a Gibson LP a plus... @@Zepln21bro what are you on about? I would be more interested in someone playing a Strat. Ritchie Blackmore uses a Strat, Yngwie Malmsteen uses a Strat, Dave Murray uses a Strat, Janick Gers uses a Strat, I can go on and on.
The Gibson sounds great however if you want to sound like the album All twangy and mid-range strat will always win not to mention the volume is higher on that recording
It’s not a matter of what’s better it’s a matter of what type of guitar fits what song obviously the Les Paul doesn’t work for this but the strat sounds great but you wouldn’t play Sad But True on a single cool same difference
The fender sounds better in this application because it's pickups are better suited for this kind of riff. I'm pro stratocaster but give the les Paul another chance with a heavier more rock and roll riff or maybe a good jazz riff les Paul's are very popular in jazz and blues
You know what? I have both Les Pauls and Strats. My opinion is they both sound awesome. The marriage between Gibson and Fender is iconic. Whenever a band shares these two flavors together the music just kicks ass. The other brand I'd through into the mix would probably be PRS. But the argument for Gibson and Fender? I mean together they've just historically been a delicious well blended salad of tonal yum yum. Red Zone or No Zone. Gen X has spoken.
Pretty disingenuous… now compare the two playing Enter Sandman … they are both cool but a Les Paul gets a chug that I can’t get on a Strat .. they sound best together in a 2 guitar band . They compliment each other beautifully
The strat sounds better because it was a strat that was used in recording of the song plus the strat has only single coil pickups whereas the Gibson has humbuckers. The strat is a mile better on this riff
Silly Question because every Guitar has it's * Best * place . I'm a Hardcore Gibson Les Paul Guy and I own several . I do not own a Strat or a Tele but I know dam well that when I'm Recording in a Pro Studio and one of my Tunes requires a Strat sound I will definitely go find the right Guitar that fits the Tone I need . Great Video !! Great Les Paul !! 🎸 And this Song definitely needs a Strat Tone without a doubt .
They’re both amazing. The price difference is what got me BUT pretty sure I can easily find a $6000 strat too. I’ve never understood those prices. Probably has something to do with me not being that great of a player.
I bought the 6500 guitar for 50 Euro 2 hands at a junk shop. With a guitar rig you can make any sound you want? And the 1700 is now on offer, new for 300 Euro.
In all my years as a performung guitarist, I've never been playing a Strat or a Tele and wished it was a Les Paul or an ES335. I cannot say the same thing when I was playing a Les Paul or an ES335.
Though one, I’ve always been partial to the clarity of Strats, but I love how easy Gibson’s are to play, easy on the hands… That Strat chirp wins here to me…
I own both and with one twist of a tone knob I could make either one sound the same as the other. There is no "better"!!! They are tools and each has a job to do and both do it well. (I also split my humbucker coil, but even un-split the above still applies).
Depends on who is playing it and the music, listen to the Outlaws "Green Grass And High Tides"... you will hear the battle of the Strat and Les Paul Hughey Thomasson and Bills Jones two of the most underrated guitarists in music, unfortunately they are no longer with us... They were constantly dueling...
A electric guitars sound comes mainly from the strings.. the best most durable ones typically agreed to be cobalt strings, then the pickup, picks the sound up like a microphone and then that sound is amplified a good amplifier, just amplifies with NO CHANGE to the signal like a class A, other than that they all sound pretty much the same, there is string action/distance from the neck,
Gibby for sure. Even tho the bender fender sounds pretty decent too. Iv played guitar for 16 years so if I'm wrong can someone please let me know . cheers my fellow guitarists. 🙏
I didn't know that was a RHCP riff nor that it was played on a strat but I couldn't help but think immediately that that particular riff def sounded better on the strat!!
The LP is tighter and earthier woth better lows. The strat is a little heavy on the highs. Move the toggle to the second position from the top to clean that up.
Gibson switch played 2nd position Fender switch played in the 1st, 3rd position would be the better position in a comparison setting. Also, on price point and well made, I'll go Fender.
Considering you had the Gibson in the middle position and weren’t getting the crispness of the bridge pickup it’s really not a fair fight. Starr will always be the JF sound.
Considering that it's a rhcp song and John always plays and records on strats the strat is a no brainer. It's not like I've never played that riff on a gibson
It was recorded on a tele
@Jaredscotmusic teles he loves as well but gretsch is his gibson
@JHMNSFTFAD you sure it wasn't his toranado
Also he’s using both pickups on the Gibson instead of just the bridge pickup
Gibson all time
For this riff, the strat destroys the les paul.
Because it was played on a strat and you use to hear it on a strat.
@@briegleruyet4139 Well yes, but also the snap and jangle of the strat is much better suited for the riff rather than the warm sound of a les paul.
@@Someguy-ic3mu maybe because it's a fender player who create.

Strats are my personal favorite so I’m drawn definitely more to the Strat.
Think this on a Gibson SG with heaven gauge strings....it's almost a different riff

Lol exactly

Bridge pickup on strat but middle on LP? PAFs are pretty trebley too. I’m curious why you played on the middle position.
smearing gibson is trendy and is what gets the views.
he's devious and pushing his own agenda.
gibson hater
He looks so happy on the fender 😂
They each have there place depending on the song. Both are good guitars.
It’s played on a Strat so I think of course a Strat sounds better
It was recorded with a tele

Fender for this song

Fender always
The strat sounds better because it was a strat that was used in recording of the song plus the strat has only single coil pickups whereas the Gibson has humbuckers. The strat is a mile better on this riff
I personally cannot decide which is better overall, but for this riff, 100% strat considering John frusciante uses a strat
Just for that riff you need the sound of the Strat. But I prefer the Les Paul.
Absolutely not a like-for-like comparison - they both sound great in very different ways.
Maybe use the same switch position for the comparison
and same energy, look his right hand
Different pickup position = different sound ... what a test ! OMG

The strat sounds better here but I noticed it’s on the bridge pickup whereas the LP is on the middle setting which only accentuates its darker sound.

Fender cuts. I always go back to telecasters. Prs, gibson super, super good. For me I need the bite on all the notes
Fender +
Depends on the riff. This song is obviously meant for a strat.
You can do anything on a strat !
Fender is perfect for this song.
Fender is brighter
The strat pickups were designed for riffs like that

They both sound good in their own way
Debes usar la cápsula del puente en la gibson y ecualizar de forma distinta
Some how the middle position Gibson sounds really really good
For that particular piece of music, on particular amp settings, obviously the fender.
It all depends on the settings on the guitar and amp.
You could easily reverse this situation.
theyd both sound great in their respective genre's and real music
It's subjective on what sound the player likes. Between the two I like Fender
Depends on the application.
I own both and with one twist of a tone knob I could make either one sound the same as the other.
There is no "better"!!!

(I also split my humbucker coil, but even un-split the above still applies).
I had that discussion many times with my wife. I NEED them all… I need them😅
That’s a pretty good Strat imitation tone from the LP, obviously Strat for an rhcp riff
I like the compressor and the extra delay you used on the strat.
and he adjusted tone on the guitar which I think makes the comparison so unfair 😂
Every Guitar player should own both of these wonderful guitars period!! There is no one is better than the other they both are badass guitars!!!!
For a song that was played on a strat and a toranado
It's amazing that the strat sounds the best ... wow
You're using both pickups on LesPaul, but only bridge pickup on strat..???
Would slash sound better?
I usually go with the Les Paul, but the Strat this time sounds pretty good

Les Paul forever
I choose telecaster because the song was recorded on it.
Would be more fair play if you would have the mic settings the same way, also you put more fx on the strat..?
For this specific song and riff obviously the strat
Gibby for sure. Even tho the bender fender sounds pretty decent too. Iv played guitar for 16 years so if I'm wrong can someone please let me know . cheers my fellow guitarists. 🙏
At first I thought i saw a 600$ price tag, at the gibson and i was confused, thinking its a epiphone, so i looked again, and it was 6k. Thanks gibson

That’s like comparing apples to oranges, the sound depends completely on the riff
To me personally the Gibson sounds cleaner.
Gibby no way. The punch of the Strat is pushing the riff to the ceiling
No fair you pick the song recorded on a Stratocaster..,
Fender hands down❤❤❤❤
i used to love my strat until i got my les paul
I always loved les paul guitars, after I have seen slash's guitar. I love it and for my first electric guitar I bought a les paul
It's a good fit and a good voice. It's a different story, brother.
I’ve always preferred Gibson but the Strat sounds better in this video
Les Paul played on both pickups. Strat played on bridge. Let’s hear the Paul played on the bridge pickup.
What is the name of the song
Can't Stop
Overall? The Les Paul, but for the song? The Stratocaster blows this one right out the water.
😊Absolutely Fender... Strat more Bright Crisp and Outstanding
Put the strat on the neck pickup and the fender wins
What's fun to play can't stop on Gibson?
Fender is an objectively better brand in every aspect. PERIOD
The fender strat sounds perfect
Gibson switch played 2nd position Fender switch played in the 1st, 3rd position would be the better position in a comparison setting. Also, on price point and well made, I'll go Fender.
Why putting the Strat in middle pickup too?
Considering you had the Gibson in the middle position and weren’t getting the crispness of the bridge pickup it’s really not a fair fight. Starr will always be the JF sound.
Quelle Strat? Quelle Les Paul? Suels micros? Quels réglages? Quelles cordes? Quel ampli?
Gibby sounds good so warm and nice
Gibson sounds better. Just because he plays a Strat on stage doesn’t mean he recorded with it
They both sound like you need one of each! 🤷♂️👍
Totally the strat, and while you’re at it, WOULD YOU PLEASE SEND ME ONE
Name song pls
Hambuckers aren’t very good choise on this song because they sound dimmer than single’s
For can’t stop
It’s gonna be strat hands down, it really depends on the riff
You should use the mid or neck pickup on that Strat to make it more yummy
😁
I know this song is done on a Strat but I actually liked the Les Paul better
Ideally you would use one at 9 o'clock, the other 3 and overdub them.
Yeah for that song the fender but for other stuff the Les is definitely very much needed but I feel ya the fender for this one!
Different pick up positions being used. Fender has effects added.... Not a fair question... Including the song was actually recorded on a strat.
