Rear wiper requirement? As a owner of a Honda Clarity PHEV with a steeply sloped rear glass, I do not feel the need for a rear wiper. I love the design of the Ioniq 5... hopefully Hyundai will sell it in all 50 US states, and not just California. That short demonstration of the CCS charging curve was quite impressive. Superb review as usual Thomas - far more loaded with reliable, intelligent, valuable information and opinions than other channels. Well done again, and thank you. This is a super impressive Tesla challenger. I would buy this as the Tesla alternative. It's far better looking also than that hideous blunt-nose design on the Tesla M3. The Polestar is the best looking regular car on the market right now - electric or not - also an excellent candidate, although it appears not as good as this Ioniq 5 for fast charging.

I have seen it live for the first time yesterday and it is definitely a head turner. Still there are many ifs and heavy calculations in the regions of the Europe, where the charging network is not so developed yet.
Probably the most tempting EV for me so far - but not until Thailand can provide an electricity supply in the NW which doesn't get knocked out every time it rains heavily or the wind blows a little strongly . . . Until then, the HiLux stays :)
FYI : Norway is the entry market for Asian car manufacturers and also the most electric car fleet market of Europe. So you will see a lot of new electric cars in Norway before they are seen elsewhere. Hence the Norwegian registry. It would only be sensible to look at the Norwegian car market to buy yourself the best price/quality electric car. I will wait for a few more years, looking at battery wear and depreciation... Maybe buying a second hand premium in stead first.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
I can live without a wiper. I use on all car windows but the windshield RainX and it's doing a pretty good job at keeping them clean even with a wiper in the rear. I believe a helping of RainX on that rear window would be ideal on this car.
When using the buit-in car GPS, features of it are getting shown at the display behind the wheel, but how about Google maps via Carplay? When will we (finally) see cars also displaying this behind the steering wheel..!?
Thomas, greetings from Virginia. Nice review, seems like a very nice all-around electric car for everyday commuting and shopping. Not sure about long distances in terms of comfort? Thanks for the review!
I have Ioniq 1 , first car I’ve had in around 25 years with no rear wiper, yes I feel I need a rear wiper in the winter. That is the top model and still has the door mirrors when a move towards camera’s is a way forwards..? Great review….😊
1600kg towing capacity. Frankly, after Tesla's behaviour removing the tow bar option from the Model 3, with no announcement or explanation, they are asking for trouble in Europe. The option to tow a trailer if you own a home, or like a slightly "outdoors-ey", family holiday is almost impossible to live without. And 18 minute charging. Wow.

@@autogefuehl 👍🏻 Looking for a comfortable first EV with some punch. Enyaq dcc is a selling point for me. From your reviews I understand the dcc have become better last couple of years..? I’ve followed you for serveral years and like the constant points on sustainability. It’s the future. Again, thank you for your impartial reviews and looking forward to future once. LET’S GO!
@@autogefuehl future ones of course. 🤓
Appreciated! Yeah dcc will give more comfort!
navigation should always be google maps like in tesla or polestar.
anyway, stunning car!
I have seen it live for the first time yesterday and it is definitely a head turner. Still there are many ifs and heavy calculations in the regions of the Europe, where the charging network is not so developed yet.
Excellent Test.
I really like the look of this vehicle. Very unique. The front ‘grille’ reminds me of the new Vauxhall Vizor.
Alfa Romeo RZ/SZ
Super-nice, can't wait to see them on the road.
Probably the most tempting EV for me so far - but not until Thailand can provide an electricity supply in the NW which doesn't get knocked out every time it rains heavily or the wind blows a little strongly . . . Until then, the HiLux stays :)
I am still waiting for my Ioniq 5 4wheel drive and it is taking ages because of the chip shortage.
I like this car! Makes ID.3 look very poor by comparison. Another excellent video, Thomas
Thanks Andrew!
Kia & Hyundai - simplicity, reliability, value for money !!! 👌🏆👍

Good job Hyundai !
Oh no, animal skin. my car is covered in kitten skin and the wind screen washer are spaying condensed kitten tears.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html
In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter.
If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html
Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
Another quality review. Danke 👍
Great effort by Hyundai. It is a lovely car.
5:15 thanks for honesty 😆 btw a blooper reel video would be fun I think
in your opion
0:38 "Click cluck, click cluck" 😂😂
😇
I love my Model 3 but I'm super exited about this one. More EVs in the USA please.
The driver’s seat cushion seems short. A thigh extension would probably more beneficial that a lower leg rest.
You neglected to mention that the rear seats slide forward, to increase boot space.
I can live without a wiper. I use on all car windows but the windshield RainX and it's doing a pretty good job at keeping them clean even with a wiper in the rear. I believe a helping of RainX on that rear window would be ideal on this car.
High quality and good presentation, thank you!👍🏻👍🏻
When using the buit-in car GPS, features of it are getting shown at the display behind the wheel, but how about Google maps via Carplay? When will we (finally) see cars also displaying this behind the steering wheel..!?
AFAIK the VW ID and Skoda Enyaq software displays the arrows from Apple CarPlay in the instrument cluster display. Not sure about the HUD though.
I'm not really a fan of the design/styling, but I love it in white.
No rear wiper. Spoiler is supposed help direct air to blow off water.
Thomas, greetings from Virginia. Nice review, seems like a very nice all-around electric car for everyday commuting and shopping. Not sure about long distances in terms of comfort? Thanks for the review!
Cheers! Seating is good, for sure they might be better vehicles for long distance traveling
Why there is not such a parking system camera in more expensive cars? It's ridiculous
I have Ioniq 1 , first car I’ve had in around 25 years with no rear wiper, yes I feel I need a rear wiper in the winter.
That is the top model and still has the door mirrors when a move towards camera’s is a way forwards..?
Great review….😊
Thanks 🙏
1600kg towing capacity. Frankly, after Tesla's behaviour removing the tow bar option from the Model 3, with no announcement or explanation, they are asking for trouble in Europe. The option to tow a trailer if you own a home, or like a slightly "outdoors-ey", family holiday is almost impossible to live without. And 18 minute charging. Wow.
