"Turcaria", esse é um barroco atento a formas e gêneros característicos de outros países. Isso interessou também a Bibber e Telemann.

Nicely done, with the recorder working surprisingly, well, but it would have been even nicer to have had the entire piece in this arrangement.

You should play slower 'Jantischara' because Janissaries were a member of the elite infantry units that formed the Ottoman Sultan's palace troops, and their marching pace determined the tempo. @@YusufYalcin83 @YusufYalcin83 thank you for commenting on our recording and sharing the piece!
We are open to the discussion about it.
It was played fast, because Fux decided to write it alla breve (instead of 4/4). There is a Chor der Janitscharen also in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail - written as an Allegro in 2/4, rather fast. We take the sugestions of the composers (western composers, let us underline this) to reflect their point of view and idea on this music.

@@cornucopiaebaroqueorchestr4449 Yes, I understand, you are partly right. I think we may not know exactly what the composer had in mind when he composed, it is obvious that the musicians of that period did not have much idea about Eastern music like today, but I thought it would be useful to think about reality (The historical reality of what influenced the composer) when making an imitation. I think the thing that was most disturbing and frightening to the ears of Europeans at that time was that the music of the Ottoman army was heavy and very accented. And i think it still can be play 'alla breve' at a slow tempo. (By the way i am sorry I forgot to mention; congratulations for your performance, your sound is very good)

@YusufYalcin83 thank you very much for the compliment!
This is indeed a very interesting subject and I think we can dig more on that. Thank you for bringing it up. As you can see, we performed it quite some time ago.
Do you know any good sources about the janissary music? Was it for sure only military marches? I heard some songs which were called also janissary...
