The new FICEP KATANA “E” series has implemented advanced engineering to minimize the cutting times. It starts with the cast iron head assembly which has the unique ability to absorb vibrations that are generated during sawing. This reduction in vibration enhances the blade life and minimizes the sawing times.
The band saw wheels are tilted to reduce the required blade twist for enhanced performance and blade life. The new automatic self-positioning blade guides offers improved blade guiding and reduced vibration, reduction of blade wear, improved cutting quality.
The arch movement along the vertical axis is handled by electric drives, which replace the hydraulic ones, allowing a better blade feeding speed regulation.
Also the sawing unit rotation is managed by electric drives guaranteeing better positioning accuracy and faster positioning cycle.
The machine is managed directly by the on board CNC, but it can be easily managed through an independent controller.
On the new KATANA, FICEP has incorporated a new special system for the processing of bundles.
With this innovative solution, bundles up to a maximum size of 1015x460 mm can be processed in a fast and automatic way.
The system also allows the processing of single bars, and thanks to the rotation of the sawing unit, it can perform mitered cuts up to 60° in each direction.
The automatic positioning and re-positioning of the feeding carriage and the motorized outfeed roller conveyor simplify handling procedures and minimize processing times.
Katana has been designed with a modularity concept that makes it functional as a stand-alone machine but perfectly integrable with an automatic beam drilling and milling line.
