I currently own a 10 year old female Dalmatian and a lot of the points are spot on. Luckily my dog isn’t deaf, but a con you missed is they are prone to health problems. My Dalmatian has been dealing with a liver disease for almost half her life and takes 3 prescriptions everyday along with eating a special dog food to balance everything out. I still wouldn’t change it I love that dog to death, I still think when she passes I will never be able to get rid of all the dog hair on my stuff.

The Dalmatian is an ancient breed, dating back to 2000BC, when spotted dogs appeared on Greek friezes and tablets, showing them working with the chariots of ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt. Some very early records of the breed are found in Dalmatia, Yugoslavia from whence the name came.

Wow, it's fascinating to learn about the long history of the Dalmatian breed and their role in ancient civilizations. It's amazing how dogs have been working alongside humans for thousands of years.

They share many of the same traits as my Border Collie. Perhaps a cross between the Dalmatian and Border Collie would be good to perhaps fix the hearing issue. All aside, they are beautiful dogs and I'd love to own one.

Mine doesn’t bark to save his life….he prefers to destroy my furniture instead…

I'm sorry to hear that your dalmatian is destroying your furniture instead of barking.
Dalmatians, like all dogs, have their own unique personalities and preferences, and some may exhibit behaviors that are different from what we expect.
It's important to remember that destructive behavior can often be a sign of boredom, anxiety, or frustration, so it's worth considering whether your dog is getting enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention.
