@@OnMars3D you explain clear and direct, topology is a headache sometimes, and a good topology on hardsurface models for baking without any artifacts at edges and corners or cilinders, etc due to the normals is another nightmare too.
Thank you, I put a lot of effort into my videos so I'm glad you find them helpful. I'm working on baking texture maps (high to low) next with my cyberpunk grenade, so stay tuned!
19:30 does that mean it is okay, to have edge loops in an island that can breakout basically to areas where it shouldn't be as long as the areas where I want now or later more edge flows, are contained? I'm having trouble to create an contained island that has no edge loops breaking out but I will not use them to add more detail
Thanks for another brilliant video. Perfect narration and extremely useful information, as always. Your channel has been a huge discovery for me, I think it's 100 times more powerful than some popular channels like Flipped Normals. Any chance you can film a video on how to model an HP iPaq h1940? I think I've been struggling with the bottom part (where the buttons are) for like 20 hours and still can't figure it out(
Thank you! Have you seen my video on how to model panels: ruclips.net/video/F7cq5qQXrx8/видео.html I would use this technique for where the bottom buttons are and then make the buttons themselves separate objects to keep everything modular.
@@OnMars3D Hey, so I've got this now ibb.co/SmPCd8M ibb.co/sv0dcQN ibb.co/k9bqfKh Though can't still figure out how to make these corners sharp without affecting the overall topology (pictured on the 3rd link). I'll be glad if you can advise smth.

What type of organic modeling (characters, creatures, environments, props, etc)? If you want to go deep into organic modeling, sculpting then retopology is the way to go.
@@OnMars3D Creatures and characters is what I want to learn to make first and then start learning the other things you mentioned in the brackets. By the way doesn't organic modeling just mean modeling of living creatures or is something more than that?
adding pole or that diamond shape wont cause issues for fluid simulation like bifrost or realflow? im havin a very hard time filling a logo from inside bud the retopo acts so wierd...
@@OnMars3D @On Mars 3D thanks for answer, im trying to place a liquid emitter inside an object, but when i set the object as collider , its like the model is full of air and water will be pushed outside and only collides outer side of model, so i cant fill the object with liquid.

Bryce was my professor at Ferris! Love the video! it's in my study folder for sure!
He was my instructor too! What a guy!
That's awesome, I've known Bryce for about 10 years now, it's always great to see his students support him!
What an incredible retopology tutorial! Thanks for the valuable method, Sir.
Glad you liked it!
I regret not knowing this 12:33 extremely simple but valuable guide early on. Really appreciate this
Glad you found it helpful!
I guess avoid 3, 5 and 7 or you have a disaster.. 🙂
This video is pure gold.
The amount of knowledge shared is right on the spot. Thank you.
Im both a student and self taught learning 3D artist and this video was very helpful, congrats you earned a sub
Incredibly useful information, even for someone who does not use Maya! Will definitely apply the theory on Blender.
What a clean, on-point tutorial, it helps significantly. Thank you!
Happy to help!
@@OnMars3D :))
Amazing tutorial! Exactly what I needed and couldn't find in any blender tutorial
Best tutorial I’ve ever seen !
Happy to help!
One of the best channels, thank you! so much helpful information about so hard topic for beginner!
I found this channel yesterday, and defo will keep watching the vids. Thanks for the lectures !
No problem, always happy to share!
That's how I like to describe it, too - "localizing topology to reduce 'damage' to the surrounding area."
Yeah, it's helped people understand to not just needlessly add edges throughout their whole model.
When I was still learning 3D, I had a fear of triangles lmao
Yeah, same here. As long as you are careful and avoid triangles in areas of deformation, they are fine to use.
Same here, I blame my 3D teacher for scaring me to death about using triangle
It took a while to understand what you were doing but that's awesome now that I see what you're doing. Thanks man.
Glad to help!
I don't know why but I find topology fun
Pure gold! Thanks man!
I should have seen this before. Thanks for the rundown. :)
You answered so many questions I had for long time. Thanks, and please share more videos.
More to come!
Kindly make more in-depth video on topology. If possible, how to retopo full stylize character. Thanks for superb content.
I cover stylized characters from beginning to end here: ruclips.net/p/PL0WgCOFFlmqJQUckEciAP7YhpJAXOS84s
Excellent video! 👍🏻
Thanks for great work, and imo for relaxing is good sometimes press B for smooth
All of your videos are really well done.
This video is a blessing. Thank you so so much and hope everything works out for you!
Thank you so much!
Fantastic video, thank you!

the evenly distribution edge kind of brush direct in the editor and in retopo model phase is cool ....r. thx..

Great tutorial, but aren’t we supposed to keep “poles” away from deformation lines?
That's correct, you want to minimize poles and triangles of areas of deformation.
Where can I find the guide image you used in the localizing topology section? It would be great to use for reference during retopo

What is the difference between hide and isolate?
You can toggle isolate with Ctrl+1 on a selected object. Hide will actually hide the the objects in your scene regardless of isolate.
Answer is do it alot to get good.
