You are the first person to talk about the holder relay out of all these videos. I've been looking and looking. Mine just goes click click when I press start on my XP. I'm gonna go hook a meter to the 2 wires you just showed me. You are the shit bro. Thank you so much.
I rarely like and subscribe to RUclipsrs I watch off my tv. But you did such a dang good job I did not even think twice of spending my time showing the love. Good good good video brother, keep up the awesome work man.
Dude, thank you so much for your video. I have two 96 XP’s. I was watching your video when I saw you had your wire hooked up a little differently then me on the starter solenoid. I could not figure out why I was not getting a spark. My other one worked fine the way I had it hooked up. Sometimes you just don’t question why. Thanks for your video.
I know this is older video of yours but still well done, I have watched your fuel system video as well also well done. They have been very helpful. I bought a project 1992 GTX and it has frustrating, a vehicle so simple can be a real pain to run constantly. Thanks
Really helpful! Unfortunately, it didn't solve my no-spark condition. I bought a 97 XP, from a shop, that they had installed a new starter, stator, rectifier. Once they got that far, they got a no-spark problem, and told the owner the ski "most likely" needed a new MPEM. Well, the shop ended up with the ski, and I bought it as-is, thinking I'd be getting an MPEM for it. But, I wanted to check everything before just dumping parts in it and hoping. I followed your vid and everything seems to check within specs except the coil secondary, after cleaning every contact point and clipping the wires back to fresh core. The one thing that makes me think it may still be the MPEM is when connecting the key, the VTS gauge bumps up and then back, but I've only had the 2 beeps happen a couple of times. My test results: Trigger coil -230 Ohms, stator-.9 ohms, coil primary - forgot to write it down, secondary-23k ohms. And, I do get voltage at coil spade from stator/trigger when cranking.
Awesome job! I followed this video and got a 95 SPX running that I got for $200. Now I've picked up a 96 SPX for $100 (its rough) and will to try some of this again.
Great video!!! very detailed - with I got 97 gtx running after 2 year of setting. the crank trigger broke loose from the bracket and hit the flywheel but it still omh'ed out good - good idea to pull the front cover is inspect to before replacing the cdi/mpem - $700.00 - the crank trigger is what took out the my module. fyi the exhaust band clamp was a big pain...
My 1992 Seadoo Bombardier, even in the Owner's Manuel it only had 1 big black neg wire that ground to the engine, no small black connecting to the coil back up front. Do you think I need to add that small wire?
Thanks so much for this video. I just rebuilt the top end of my Challenger XP with the 787, and was out on the lake shaking it down a bit. Was running fine, then all of a sudden it just flat out quit. Naturally I was assuming the worst (and that I made a mistake which blew up my nice new top end) but it sounded like it was cranking fine and moving plenty of air. So - plugged in spark plug, and did a close look to see if there was spark - and there was none. Per suggestions, checked all fuses (all good) so went to the primary coil (in spec) but a resistance check of the secondary showed NOTHING. Pulled off the plug ends and they were pretty cooked. Cut off 1/2 inch, screwed it back on and... whee - fired right back up. I'm kinda irritated that they had to integrate the wires INTO the CDI unit, it would be much easier to get a generic plug wire. Actually, now that I think about it I have some ford coil on plugs, and running those primary wires to the COP on each cylinder would probably work with a much more powerful spark. If it goes down again I may try it, or run those wires to a ford DIS system which I also have lying around...
Just bought a 1996 seadoo gtx bombardier. Previous owner bought from older man that lost spark one day. He replaced the coil pack, stator and cdi mpem. I've got two wires that didn't come connected. One is a yellow wire coming off coil pack that I assume goes to negative like in your video. And another black wire coming out the top of the black electrical box near batter. That doesn't have a home on the other end. The jet ski still had no spark when I bought it. I have pictures but can't seem to post them. Any help is appreciated
Excellent informative video. You said you would add a comment for the type of test light you used to check that the CDI module was triggering the high voltage coil. Is it just a standard 12V automotive test light? Do you just pull back the white wire spade on the high voltage coil while still attached and hold the test light probe to it with the other end of the test light grounded while cranking? Thanks.
is it possible to have not enough power going to the coil? i did the test for the coil and my coil checks out and i have power going to it..... still no spark. could i not be getting enough power to the coil to be getting spark?
Hey bro! Did all your test & actually failed the stator ( 3 prong) I got here because although I do have spark it seems weak.. & only 1 cylinder is firing.. I swapped out a stator for a good one and put it all back together… finished video and passed all the test witb flying colors! What the hell do I do next ?? I have spark it just will not run on 2 cylinders.
your video was incredible, i put a new engine in my seadoo single engine rotax 787 1996. and before i put engine in i had forgotten that i lost the seado beep, like what could that be? i changed the starter relay.
Very good video. My 97 GTS is set up a little different, the plug off the stator is 4 wire. From what I’ve been able to find the resistance between the two yellow wires should be 0.6-1.0 ohms and the 40-60 ohms between the black and black with red stripe wires. Can you verify this?
Nice video! I got a vxr pro been working on myself, when I bought it it would start right up just couldn't get it above 15 mph so been doing a bunch of stuff to it, well now I put a new ignition coil on it and lost spark it cranks just wont start put old coil back on and same what could I have messed up?
You wouldn’t happen to know the ohms that I should be seeing on a Kawasaki 2004 SXR 800 would you? I had a friend hook the battery up backwards and now it won’t spark.
Adam, I am in the process of replacing the top lid of the rear electrical box. How do you remove the light grey female harness connector that is on top of the cover? It's usually covered with a boot seal on the top of the lid. Thanks!
Hey bro got a question I got this jetski from a friend i put the battery in and I hit the start button but the engine wont turn over so I take off the spark plugs and liquid shots out the spark plugs holes and the engine turns I put them back on and engine doesn't turn any idea
Great videos, we appreciate the time u put into these. Wondering if u can give me assistance? I have 08 rxp215 and digital display Is starting to lose certain lines or not display correctly. I think water or condensation is getting in and messing with it. Is there anything I can do besides check the connections to it? Also is there somewhere I can pull the specs like u have for resistance testing?
I am working on a 1996 GTX and would really like to know how you got access to that service manual. I need to figure out how to test the computer modules in the front of the ski to make shure they are functioning properly cause I don’t have any power to the starter solenoid when trying to start
Most useful video ever made for the X4 Electrical system. We all owe you.
Thanks Kevin, more good stuff to come. I am thinking of making an entire Seadoo fuel system over haul video since that is such a common topic.

You totally saved me. “The little black wire at the battery” Couldn’t figure out why I lost spark after rebuilding carbs and pump. Duh…Thank you

Great video, I have no power on white wire going to coil. What does that mean
I hope that works for me. Got signal to the coil but not going to the plugs. I'm glad it was explained
dude, this is gonna help me so much. Thank you!!
I’m not getting power to my ignition coil. What could be the issue causing that? I already replaced the holder relay and trigger coil
Awesome video! As a diesel tech I don’t know squat about this 97 xp I’m working on, this helped a ton, thanks for your time!!

Hey Adam great video! When you tested the female connectors of the coil did you have the stator plugged back in or does it not matter?
Good job on the vid man, just subscribed.

Thanks Carl, actually I work for a Seadoo dealer right now haha
I get 1.4 ohms between all combinations of yellow wires is that bad?
Question. Do you fix them up and sell them. Your good at this stuff. Let me know.
Hey man I have 96 xp I replaced every thing to do with spark still no spark need help

You don't have to pull the stator cover to check it all you do is unplug it from the electrical box in the front and check it they're much easier
