I feel like that's more embarrassing if the book is not inspired by boyband fan fiction, tbh. Whether it's specific to Harry or not. I've never read it but I've watched videos of other content creators reviewing it and giving writing examples as to why they don't like it and imo they're correct in their assumptions. Theres a lot of cringey fan fiction esque lines of dialouge in that book, and the entire premise is so incredibly juvenile and giving fan fiction vibes. To say that that wasn't the intention makes its existence so much worse. 😂

As a former fanfic connoisseur during my teen years I loved this movie. The only thing missing was Solène reading a book during the the Coachella performance and Hayes noticing and stopping the show to call her up on stage! 😂😂😂

This movie only worked thanks to Anne and Nicholas, their chemistry was so good that it really makes you ignore most of the cringe
it's not inspired by harry styles, or rather, not solely inspired by him. the author regrets ever mentioning that because of course the internet ran with it and now that's everything its known for, which you beautifully demonstrated. i actually kind of feel bad for this author bc not only has she recieved multiple death threats because of this, she has repeatedly talked about how hard it was for her (a woman of colour) to get published. she only got published once she made her characters white and talked about celebrities a little bit. There's a great article on Entertainment Weekly that talks about this, as well as one over on Time Magazine (If you google Idea of You author, or Robinne Lee, you should be able to find it). I just wanted to share this because I think it's so unfortunate that her work (regardless of quality) has been "reduced" to this.

i'm not gonna lie, for some reason i didn't get that romcom cringe i usually get from movies these days. i think it also has to do with how the movie was filmed. it felt more down to earth, more film-like rather than super high quality HD camera which takes me back to 2000s rom coms. also anne Hathaway always brings that charm back into the movies that she is in and nicholas galitzine just was fine as hell in the movie and their chemistry was so good i enjoyed it

Side note for you, COACHELLA is actually super fun. I am pretty introverted and have never been to a music festival BUT I went this year with a group of friends, stayed at a nice golf resort nearby, and had one of the best weekends ever. No one was rude, the bathrooms surprisingly clean enough, TONS of space to rest and chill away from crowds. So so so so much fun. (plus I got to hold Billie Eilishs hand and nearly fainted)
