As I am proud of your Son and all of the Men and Women willing to stand in harm's way, so we can sleep safely in our beds. Watch out for the Bulldog at the last 500m. Say hello from me! Best years of my Life! From a Hardcore British Veteran!
I think the SLR was 12 lbs and Peters pool in February and breaking the ice was brutal but fun. At the end of the endurance course one of the guys in my section let off a 7.62 round off in the butts. Cupid stunt comes to mind. It was even harder because my opponent and I had to push and pull this guy, carry his weapon and kit back to camp because he gave up. And as everyone knows who has done the course,3 start 3 finish or you all fail.
@USMarineRifleman0311 Did you carry that M249 on a 9-mile speed march? Having completely the six-mile endurance course two days previous? Knowing that you have the Tarzan course the next day? And then the 30-miler, running with 50lbs across the marshes and tors of Dartmoor? After 32 weeks of the longest, most physically and mentally demanding training in the military world? No? I've worked with USMC. Most of you are likeable, hardworking and professional. I guess you're the exception.
Lol so true i am 39 with loads of injuries ,bad knees and fucked up right rotator cuffs . Bloody hell wish i could turn back the bloody time to live in my prime !
Speaking from a mountain walkers scrapyard these are really hard ..i have done a few 35 milers day and night ...and just keeping going , focused and safe ..with your wits about you is difficult enough for 12/15 hours...in cold wet and blisters with outdoor cuisine!
@USMarineRifleman0311 US Marines dont do any runs like the RM Commando`s and you only do 11 weeks basic training .Most US Marines would fail RM Training all day long so wind your neck in fella.
So true! Furthermore, there has been an attempt by a U.S.M.C. Sgt, by the name of Nava the Beast, who failed on the first attempt. That means a "Re-Tred" with no excuses, on a Basic B.F.T. No "Hunter" just sheer lack of Weight Circuits and the 7, "p" However, Nava regained composure, prepared and came back fighting, showing what a U.S.M. is made of! I sound like a commentator! Lol. All Banter aside, my Father wore a U.S.M.C. Cap Badge under the flap of his "Green Lid" in Korea. My Cousin was a U.S.M. who I miss very much. I myself a Veteran, would not like to fight "Shoulder to Shoulder" without my U.S.M.C. Brothers. God Bless everyone of you!
Had a freak of a PTI in my old regiment, constantly doing things he shouldnt, like the fastest CFT, standard was 8 miles in 2 hours, this guy insisted on doing it as fast as possible, our record was 8 miles in 1hr 24 mins, and we were all blowing out our arses. so good on ya to these blokes.
yo my best friend got to work with Rmarines when he was in. he had nothing but good things to say about you guys. Good on you for serving brotha!!! i think all able bodied men should do their part.
Or the single file sections that go through the woods for a couple of miles and stretch the Troop right out so the lads at the back are sprinting to keep up!
I've served alongside US Marines. In my experience, they don't boast, nor do they object to being termed as 'soldiers'. They are respectful, and respectable. If you genuinely are a member of the USMC, you are a disgace to your fellow soldiers.
I served in the Canadian airborne regiment our physical training seems very similar 2 by 10s as what we called your 9 miler we would parachute in and run back in fighting order regularly seems similar to the royal marines
There is no wet stops on the 9 miler, nor do you fire your weapon at the end. I passed out back in 89 in my original troop. I found the 9 miler relatively easy, as did I the 30 miler. It was painful because I was carrying a groin injury but as for the physical side of it, then not too bad. Endurance was harder, and I found the Tarzan assault test the most arduous. It’s the fact that your body is broken down and beaten up and everyone is carrying injuries and fatigued, especially as it is straight after your final exercise. My troop sergeant throughout training was a USMC Gunny. “Oliver Tilley” a top, top bloke. He informed our troop that the comparison between basic training of the respective Corps was huge.
The Canadian Army Battle Fitness Test ("BFT" for all trades/and both male and female) was 13 Kms in two hours twenty minutes carrying 24.5 Kg (53 pounds) of gear, including rucksack and rifle. At the end end of that you had to do an immediate 100m untimed casualty evacuation using the fireman's carry of someone apporximately your own height and weight. Then immediately fol that you had to do a trench dig simulation by shovelling .486 cubic metres of pea gravel (which was a little strange). The fastest I did the march in was 1 hour 28 mins and 30 seconds, but I was 48 years old by then. It actually wan;t a bad test, but way easier than the older standard called the "2 X 10" where you had to do a ten miler with full kit and ammo boxes, etc., on two consecutive days. They've binned the BFT t now and have a universal fitness test for the whole of the CAF called the FORCE test. It's pathetc. If you can't pass it you prob don't have a pulse. Yet people do fail it.
Nod here, RMR (S.A.S)/ rubber dagger, we're currently away on exercise this weekend, speed march is set at 21lbs of weight that includes the rifle. 4 mile 40 minutes that's a hang out but it only gets harder as this is only our 2nd exercise weekend not including the induction and some others. feel free to ask any questions
jay will Yes, you're required to do the same tests, but there is the rather small obstacle of the recruit training that you get to short cut (Much like the AACC) Which is blatantly obvious when you work with rubbers. Why would I be taking the piss out of reserves if i was one? Silly billy.
Barry Buddon You're essentialy right Barry, but then again our training is 1 year and 4 months long so we take a bit longer. Essentially though it's fucking exhausting!
True fucking warriors. Proud to have these lads protecting this country. Hoping to join up myself soon. Going to spend a good year training endurance first as it’s not upto the standard and I have a good 20kg bodyweight to lose aswell. My upper body strength on the other hand is amazing.
You are only taking your opinion from this video which doesnt represent real basic training. You most definetley get yelled at,you get beasted and your gear does get tossed about. They are just being nice for the programme trust me. The USMC Training is just abuse and as for it being harder thats just not the case as your fitness tests are way lower than the Commando tests. Why do you feel the need to come and talk rubbish about someone elses armed forces?
the last hike/march US Marine recruits have to complete before the crucible is 15 miles with packs weighing 60+ pounds. that hike covers soft beach sand to hills you gotta use your hands to climb. the crucible is 48 miles in 3 days.
Look how dark there tunics are that swet when I did this I lost nearly a stone but its very important that they can doo this march it's what separates them from other troops
L85A2 weight unloaded: 8.4LBS L85A2 weight loaded: 10.3LBS SUSAT sight: 0.7LBS L123A2 UGL weight: 3.3LBS L85A2 weight, loaded, with SUSAT sight and L123A2 UGL: 14.3LBS. Make no mistake, the SA80A2/L85A2 is a heavy fucker.
it's only 11 weeks but when i went through it was brutal. i've seen what you guys do as training. ou get talked to with the utmost respect and they really take it easy on you guys. nobody got screamed at nobody had their gear thrown around. there was no breaking down of anyone to remold them into what's needed. you train longer but we train harder. discipline, leadership, and killer instinct are whet they instill in us
As a previous comment mentions, I too hate the comparison between US and Royal Marines. The US Marines are regular infantry with around 11 weeks of basic training. The Royal Marines have 32 weeks to go through, and are elite infantry. The similarity between the two ends in their names. I would sooner compare the US Rangers to the Royal Marines, in that, the Rangers are a step above regular infantry, just as the Royal Marines are. US Marine doesn’t equal Royal Marine. Regular vs Elite is the difference.
@ajw1212 but surely they have a medic in the jack wagon incase anyone goes down, look at all the tabbing videos on here at Depot Para/P Company then you will see the PTI and ALL the DS carry the weight
When i was in the united states marine corps i did plenty of times. every monday we did a 5 mile run. running in duce gear and carrying ammo cans isn't something that's a surprise for United States Marines. That's how we train. carrying ammo and running in duce gear and then having to hit your target even though your heart is pounding at the range is a regular thing.
it instlls a lot of good traits. you learn combat formations and learn instant obedience to orders. there are a few more reasons but i can't remember off the tip of my head
Which Marines are you joining? i know the USMC a perfect physical fitness test is 18 min 3 mile run, 100 crunches in 2 minutes and 20 pull ups. in all honesty you'll be expected to be able to run no less than 3 miles and no more than 12. no less than 15 pull ups and 100 crunches. we ran 5-6 miles every monday , rest on tuesday, run 3 miles on wed and then circuit traiing or weight training on friday. weekends you pt on your onwn unless you did something wrong
For 25 miles? In the Army we carried roughly that amount of weight in our rucks, but only for 12 miles or so at the standard infantry pace. I doubt the British Army did more than that either. If they were indeed doing a 25 mile ruck march, it was undoubtedly with less weight than that, otherwise they'd all be hopping through selection.
This is a 9 mile speed march as it says in the title. One of the commando tests, when you are nearing the end of basic training. It isn't so bad, depending on the weather, and the mood of your instructors. The drinking stops are a new addition, and add to the time limit. There's also a thirty miler, carrying same kit.
So you've got to average a 10 minute mile or less over 9 miles of very variable and probably undulating terrain, carrying 21 lbs of kit? Not easy at all. I'm sure many other people in more mainstream and regular parts of the British military e.g. regular army would find that really tough.
when i was attached to raf regt we had to do 10k in full webbing with SA80 and helmet. We had 90 minutes to do it. Nobody failed. My time was 55 minutes..as a techy i was chuffed with that as it was quick. But i was very fit and could run a mile in 4.50 in trainers and PT kit at my fittest.
We come in all shapes, sizes, colours etc...one thing we all are and will remain forevermore, is a Brotherhood of Commandos! What did you do this year?
i apologize on his behalf. i'm a united states marine and i want to say im sorry for his offensive comments. i'm prouds to think of yuo guys as our brothers in arms
that's not ok Devildog. Don't bring up their friendly fire incidents it's going too far and beign way too disrespectful. You're better than that marine
I'll have you know I'm eating yogurt. Those who can't teach. Those who can't teach teach gym. Those who can't do that troll the youtube comment sections.
mate u clearly don't know anything about the royal maries taret accuracy firstl the targets are over 400 yards and you have to hit 12 out of 15 (which is more than 51%) after a speed march
as long as they dont have 2 shoot u can say that.of course thats what combat leads 2 so it is what it is. Royal marines rifle qual at 300yards and only have to score 51% US Marines qual at 200-500 and have 2 score 80% or better to pass. i can't even count the number of times i had to out right run 9 miles.not run walk the royal marines get babied not trained.or at least thats what the videos of their training looks like.i mean they ask to leave if they decide they dont wnat 2 be there anymre
some serious bullshit been written on here! im not long out of training an you do carry that weight but for like 4-5 miles, 25 miles is just complete bullshit!
I have no idea where the hell you are getting your information from. There is a reason they call RM training the longest and one of the hardest in the world. US Marines have completely different tactics and they are twice as big, they have their own tanks for christ sake. Your including specialist training. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT.
What are you on about mate? Your statement about light infantry and heavy infantry has nothing to do with mine about body count, but seriously, why do you hate the british forces as much as you say you do in your comments through-out youtube?
Yea I know I bet the Comandos training in ww2 Scotland had it 10 times tougher than you also things change and training is more science based so dont be critical
Or us …. PO454xxx with an SLR, one GPMG per Section, starting at CTCRM with a Blank Section Attack on Woodbury Common at the end. Not drummed into CTCRM afterwards either.
@@Grayman58 Their equivalent was a 12 mile speed march with those hob nail boots, I kid you not. The ones worn only for parades now. Feckin beastiality 😩
@USMarineRifleman0311 just shut up. Royal marines are completely different to USMC so dont even compare them. Royal Marines have much harder training and the USMC have a much larger force as the training is so much easier to pass than the RM training. Not saying they are better just completely different. They are more like navy seal or something
not from the video i just saw they're not. they get talked to like high school kids. they quit when they want to with a little letter of resignation?Training longer does not mean training better.
Then its a pointless argument. All armed forces around the world do it differently ,no particular training regime is better than all the rest.Me personally,I dont need to be screamed at like a dog to understand what I needed to do as I`m not an idiot and I dont think abuse is the way to train people so i dislike they way the USMC does things but if you do,thats up to you.
that's not the USMC you're talking about. it's the US military. don't try to act like all of that falls on the Corps. We didn't have to drop the nukes to win but we chose to to save lives.
my son is doing this training now and I am very proud of him and of all of them.
As I am proud of your Son and all of the Men and Women willing to stand in harm's way, so we can sleep safely in our beds.
Watch out for the Bulldog at the last 500m. Say hello from me!

redmotive and there will never be a place for you in the armed forces if you have that closed a mind
How'd he get on,y'all?
Seeing this Video for the first time brings back such memories except back in 79 it was SLR’s very emotional god bless you all
Remember that too with SLR’s back in 79, and breaking the ice to get into the water tunnel 👍🏻
I think the SLR was 12 lbs and Peters pool in February and breaking the ice was brutal but fun. At the end of the endurance course one of the guys in my section let off a 7.62 round off in the butts. I love how this video makes it look like a "stroll through the beautiful Devonshire countryside"! Speed Marches and I were not friends.
Great smiles I tell ya, these boys are the greatest ! Keep on marching proudly.
Speaking from a mountain walkers scrapyard these are really hard ..i have done a few 35 milers day and night ...and just keeping going , focused and safe ..with your wits about you is difficult enough for 12/15 hours...in cold wet and blisters with outdoor cuisine!
This is a tough schedule : 9 miles in 90 mins with 22lbs of extra weight plus 9lb rifle.
Fair dues to these guys.
Remember it well. 83 recruit troop 1975. I was a front traffic guide. Breezed it, TBH.
Immense respect for our brothers in arms. Cheers from a Swedish Marine.

Well done good job I am pleased of my grandad sergeant major with his 1000 men by his side
Did this in January 1982 four of us collapsed at the end with heat exhaustion 48 hours in sick bay then onto the 30 miler. The good old days!!
Solid. Love it. How’s it going fella ? With a big smile feel good ... says it all.
Been there, Done that! This video does not show the many uphill climbs

Question:
How do you feel about getting a green beret the easy way?
Barry Buddon I thought they had to do all the same tests. Are you a stab in the royal mess tin repair unit? Sounds like it from that commeny
jay will Yes, you're required to do the same tests, but there is the rather small obstacle of the recruit training that you get to short cut (Much like the AACC) Which is blatantly obvious when you work with rubbers.
Why would I be taking the piss out of reserves if i was one? Silly billy.
Barry Buddon You're essentialy right Barry, but then again our training is 1 year and 4 months long so we take a bit longer. Essentially though it's fucking exhausting!

I personally found all the tests buckers. It was the yomping, with full kit on exercise i found the hardest.
the royal marines 30 miler is done in 8 hours in Dartmoor, to put that into comparison.
we had to when i was in the USMC. Hitting what you're aiming at when you're heart is pounding is real combat training.
great one
You DO NOT WANT A BAPTISM OF FIRE WHY HE ROMANTICISING THIS‼️😨😱.
i had to carry the saw when i was at mct. i was only 140 pounds and was carrying 60 pounds and ammo and the saw. hardest 15 miles of my life
No you didn’t. You were playing snooker u weirdo
I'll give you that. i'm proud as hell of my service but being SAS and dying in combat deserves more respect than i can muster.
Sgt. McCrory -hi Sgt mccrory I saw your post thank you for your service my husbands uncle was in the SAS ( Australia)
Thankyou for your service. Take’s a hell of a mindset to get to the SAS
Stick to billiards your full of shit
Oh yes indeed, we did it with SLR rifles and that bloody heartbreak hill!
Heart break mile
Never got a waterstop on mine in 71... In fact we donned respirators for the last 300 yds
Paras best uhuhuh bro
I nor sure I would like to give this one I trying to get fit I love the outdoors
the last hike/march US Marine recruits have to complete before the crucible is 15 miles with packs weighing 60+ pounds. that hike covers soft beach sand to hills you gotta use your hands to climb. the crucible is 48 miles in 3 days.
Yea and you get to sleep and rest in those 3 days . RMs 30 miles is in one shot over dartmoor hills and rough ground with little food and water
Bull shit
10 minute miles in trainers and PT kit would be a doddle. In boots, webbing and rifle......it's a bit harder (to say the least!).
Look how dark there tunics are that swet when I did this I lost nearly a stone but its very important that they can doo this march it's what separates them from other troops
❤
Paras 10 mile battle march was 1 hour 45 mins with 45lb load rifle without sling back in the late 80s
You must be good hey. These are crap hat sailors with guns
Miss the 95 kit
@TheAirbornePainTrain The DS are the safety staff. Need them to be fresh if anyone goes down.

The SAS selection only have 50 lbs in their Rucks, so you're telling me the standard infantry put more in theirs than the SAS? I don't think so.
What the F are you on about?
Any idea how to complain about this "marinerifleman" bloke? He's obviously a walter.
Yea stu I think his lights are on and nobody's home 🇬🇧🇬🇧

This is severe training that only elite can do, that is why most of troop has either left out of choice or not fit enough at this point.
Fucking spartans these lads, total respect!!!
Greek Land Army's frogmen (not the Navy's ones) run 32 klms (i think this is 20 miles) with rifle and webbing.Fuck yeah!
Since when was there a break on the 9 miler? I don't remember a water stop!
It used to depend on if you did it in summer or not.
Now they all have one no matter the weather.
The clock keeps ticking though ...
furtherst i ever ran was 11 ish miles. 20 miles with a 75+ pound pack on is the furtherst i ever hiked. up and down hills
😂😂😂 what tool !!!
why do the marine pti's and ds never seem too carry any kit on these ?
They've already proved themselves.
like curious how any breaks is it now
Macey Rickard one water stop 3 miles in, another 6 miles in, the timer continues however

finally i see an African dude
We come in all shapes, sizes, colours etc...one thing we all are and will remain forevermore, is a Brotherhood of Commandos!
What did you do this year?
i apologize on his behalf. i'm a united states marine and i want to say im sorry for his offensive comments. i'm prouds to think of yuo guys as our brothers in arms
Why don't you fuck off,attention seeking,boring Prick.
No your not !!! Your a liar
Well, you've just practically confirmend that you aren't a soldier. To any soldier, weight matters.
Did PRMC recently and run back to camp after endurance was hell. Can't imagine doubling the length and adding 21pound and a weapon. Shitting myself.
You're trained for it not thrown into it
so did you pass this was 9months ago?
Jonny Kitchen or maybe a month ago lol
it was difficult
But not impossible...if you want it enough. 👍
What's the soundtrack ?
Adam Truth Brothers in arms - Mark Knopfler
Dogo Argentinia Thank you
Annoying mixed with the footage
This similar to Raf ref 5 miler?
OH PLEASE!!!!!
@@Grayman58 easier ?
that's not ok Devildog.
Royal marines rifle qual at 300yards and only have to score 51% US Marines qual at 200-500 and have 2 score 80% or better to pass.
i can't even count the number of times i had to out right run 9 miles.not run walk
the royal marines get babied not trained.or at least thats what the videos of their training looks like.i mean they ask to leave if they decide they dont wnat 2 be there anymre
penguin
some serious bullshit been written on here! im not long out of training an you do carry that weight but for like 4-5 miles, 25 miles is just complete bullshit!
No. They yomp with a full kit. Bergen full of wet towels...
A high body count isn't efficiency, especially when most are civvies. American tactics
We didn't stop for water
Bill PO33833J
@Paul RS or us P0345 *** + SLR!
They are more like navy seal or something
the pack i carried in the USMC was 75 pouds.
You wouldn't complete Royal Marines basic training
Not while running I bet
Your full of shit !!!!you wouldn’t get that kind of weight in a Bergen unless you filled it with lead
not from the video i just saw they're not. they get talked to like high school kids. they quit when they want to with a little letter of resignation?Training longer does not mean training better.
Then its a pointless argument. All armed forces around the world do it differently ,no particular training regime is better than all the rest.Me personally,I dont need to be screamed at like a dog to understand what I needed to do as I`m not an idiot and I dont think abuse is the way to train people so i dislike they way the USMC does things but if you do,thats up to you.
ok mate why don't you try it then? yeah get out of your comfy computer chair and do it.
No its so you can pretend you won the most dangerous territory in afghan when we held it the whole time. Oh and were holding it again now...
that's not the USMC you're talking about. it's the US military. don't try to act like all of that falls on the Corps. We didn't have to drop the nukes to win but we chose to to save lives.
lool
And swim 7 miles.
The whole scenery represents the escape from enemy territory after being captured.Fuck yeah! (again)
