I can't stop thinking about 2 wonderful works of art acted by him. first unforgettable " Women in Love " adapted from D.H.Lawrence's masterpiece. second poignant " Mayor of Casterbridge " adapted from Thomas hardy's great work.
Loved his fantastic performance in "The Shout"! I also enjoy hearing about the multi-layered strata of people's lives. It's so comical now, but so many people needed to hide their "other lives", either because of inner pressures, societal laws and expectations, or of religious dogma. So happy we had Alan Bates in our lives. Bless him. Thanks!
These liars really annoy me. Fake stuff through and through. How dare they? Anyway. LBTQ rights are a recent thing and not all gay people agree with them let alone fight for them.
@@madamedellaporte4214 What's recent to you? Fights for rights started in the 70s, grew more intensive in the 80s and continued into the 21st century. Are you a spokesman for gay people? The large majority of LBTQ+ people support rights for their community.
Three minutes in and already four errors - he did not play the lead in Look Back in Anger, was not in A Taste of Honey and was not Oscar-nominated for Zorba or Georgy Girl (only for The Fixer). Dismal research.
Had he not hidden his homosexuality, he would have been arrested and he wouldn't have any carrier at all. So was the law in the kingdom of her majesty. Was it not?
So AI is writing and narrating these now? Alan Bates was not in A Taste of Honey. I stopped listening there and won't watch anymore of your videos anymore. Useless.
This doesn't seem right. I dont think Alan Bates had ever heard of LGBT because it didn't exist in his lifetime did it? And surely he was bisexual not homosexual
Err. You obviously don't know anything, but I wouldn't expect anything else of a right-wing troll who has posted twice under different names. Activists began to use the initialism LGBT from about 1988. It didn't magically appear some time in the 21st century. Gay rights activism has been arround since the late 60s.

But for the rest of us who care about people other than ourselves and don't swallow the kool-aid of Fox News, Human Rights Watch reported that in 2022 attacks based on gender identity were up 32.9% from last year, while attacks based on sexual orientation are up 13.8%. The FBI’s report noted that there were 1,947 recorded incidents relating to an alleged victim’s sexual orientation in 2022. But I guess all those reported attacks and murders were made up by lefties.
He was excellent in The Go Between playing opposite Julie Christie, one of my favourite movies
His performance in “Far from the Madding Crowd” 67 and “Zorba the Greek”

I love both of those
Loved alan bates very handsome ❤

"King Of Hearts". All ya need.
Totally agree, I love many of his movies but come to think of it, king of hearts is my favorite one
His true identity was not gay. Beautiful man. RIP ♥️✨🙏🏻
He was living life
You omitted the fact that he had lost a son from drugs faraway from the UK, under dreadful conditions, which destroyed him. He truly loved his sons.
Tristan didn't die of an overdose. It was an asthma attack while in Tokyo.
Alan wasn't in A taste of honey and the photo you showed was Murray Melvin...thumbs down for a dud video
Not only the video is faulty but also Bates DID NOT COME ACTOR AS A GAY MAN IN THE 90's or ever. He was bisexual but never talked about that.

Stop shouting
Great man. Thanks for exposing our pathetic postal service.
The King of Hearts. Brilliant Movie.

What an amazing actor for all time ! One of my favourites…A Day in the Death of Joe Egg with Janet Suzmann was off the scale brilliant 👏
Joe Egg was amazing.
Strange, I've read that Joanna Pettet was his caregiver when he was sick. No mention of any Mike.
Had he not hidden his homosexuality, he would have been arrested and he wouldn't have any carrier at all. So was the law in the kingdom of her majesty. Was it not?
brilliant actor so handsome
A beautiful actor
He kept his love life very secret. Why couldn't he have been bisexual ?
A KIND OF LOVING(1962)

An English man abroad brilliant performance of Guy Burgess
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and have a great day!
