Blanche was sensational. Rose was brilliantly naive. Dorothy was extraordinary in sarcasm and Sophia’s whit became iconic. The Golden Girls was truly in a golden category of its own and I don’t think there ever will be anything as wonderful as the four of them were together. I’m so grateful to them for welcoming us into their home for it is us who are truly “thankful for being their friends” ☺️
My son got me the entire series on DVD, and my Dad and l would watch it together before he passed away in 1993 from lung cancer. I STILL miss his laugh.....he had a great laugh! ❤️

Rose is my favorite too. My favorite episode has to be : It's a miserable life, when Rose told a neighbor Freida Claxton to drop dead. The neighbor instantly drop dead to the floor.
Betty White is one of the great comedic actors out there and Rose was one of her best characters. I have trouble picking a favorite. I think for me it was Sophoa, because she reminded me a little of my own grandmother; whom I was very close with.
I have a confession: I watched and enjoyed this show as a teenager. Back then, their wit and humor did not seem “old” to me. Now that I’m older,, they’ve become even more relatable and hilarious
I loved the Golden Girls when it was current, and now, I am watching it on Hulu from start to finish. Thanks for this video! I enjoyed the 'behind the scenes' look at the show.
The show is timeless! The ensemble made the show work so to choose one is almost impossible but, if I had to choose, it would be Dorothy. Her zingers always made me laugh. Thx for the vlog.
I have been watching the show from the time it started as a teenager and I still watch it almost every day. It is just so funny and AWESOME. I absolutely love it and watch it with my family now.
I’m turning 50 April 30th, and I remember watching this show with my Grandmother as a teen. Now the episodes make so much sense as I approach 50! Dorothy was my favorite. They all live on in my Golden Girls tarot deck.
My favorite character is Dorothy. She was strong, confident, and smart on the show. But also like all the girls together. The each bring something great to the show.
Sophia was my favorite! Even though she ‘was going through memory issues associated with a stroke’, she was the only character, it seemed, who would give some of the best quips, zingers, and one liners on the show. She also gave 100% what she got, and wasn’t afraid to throw out the occasional insult either. I always loved her stories too!
I must say that Betty White has always been dear to my heart. But, what I liked most about her character, Rose, was her stories about St. Olaf. They were wild. I often wondered if they were scripted or if she she would ad lib much of them.
@@sabinebruhns6632 Seriously , I did not know that she would ab lib those stories. That's awesome. Loved it when Betty started her sentence "back in St Olaf". You just knew it was gonna be good!!
Dorothy was my favorite. Between her biting and hilarious sarcastic responses, her witty one-liners, and those incredible facial expressions, she just had it all.
It will always be one of my all time favorite shows. I was still in school and used to watch it with my grandma. Years later I bought all 7 seasons on dvd. The saddest moment for me was when Dorothy left at the end of season 7. The season that followed after that called golden palace just wasn't the same without her.
The last one was the saddest for me, too! I cried like a baby in that last episode, especially when Dorothy kept leaving and then busting back through the front door (and through the lanai!) to hug the other girls some more and tell them again how much she loved them and would miss them terribly. The only other episode that made me cry was in season 6, episode 9 titled “Mrs. George Devereaux”. In particular, the part where Blanche finally gets to hug George in her dream for the first time ever and can still feel his arms around her when she wakes up…yep…that one had me grabbing for the box of Kleenex. 😋 I wish Bea Arthur had been a main character in the Golden Palace instead of just those 2 episodes, but I still love watching The Golden Palace episodes. I laugh just as much and just as hard as I do when I watch The Golden Girls. I wish so much that they had made more episodes in that series. Don Cheadle and Cheech Marin were wonderful additions to the story line. Even Jack Black made an appearance in one episode, which blew my mind the first time I saw that scene. He was soooo young! 😃👍🏻
Hotspot Oh thank goodness I wasn't the only one to pick up on that. I remember watching an interview with Betty White and she said that she and Rue kept in touch. It seemed like they were close, so glad I'm not the only one who caught that.
I agree. Bea & Rue worked together on Maude. Rue said when her mother passed. Bea had Rue to come stay with her and take care of her. That was in the 70s. Rue & Betty worked on Mama's Family before Golden Girls. Betty & Bea knew each other in 70s because of their circle of friends. Bea worked with Lucille Ball in Auntie Mame & Lucille Ball & Betty were good friends. As Estelle got sick those 3 were still at awards shows together. They may not been hanging out 7 days a week, but over a course of life they shared a bond.
Betty White said in an interview once that Bea Arthur was not fond of her. That made me sad because I would like to think all the women were as close as their characters were on the show.
My #1 favorite show of ALL TIME. Long live The Golden Girls! 👵🏻 ⭐️ I have seen every single episode a million times! Dorothy was always my favorite, followed by Blanche. Love them all though, greatest show there ever was or ever will be! ❤️
Love this cast. Couldn’t see anyone else playing these roles! RIH to the ones that have gone to glory. And they also placed Ms. Arthur in the middle because of her facial expressions. And they were friends. Ms. McCallahan got along with everyone.
I love this show! I watched it when it came out for the seven years it ran. Then didn't see it for years. Now 30 years or so later I watch it most nights before going to bed (recorded on my tv)!! It is amazing how this show has stayed popular through the years with a various age groups of people. I don't really have a favorite character, I liked them all for different reasons, it really just WORKED!!
I can't pick a favorite. I love them all. I wish I could take the best characteristics of each of them and reinvent myself. This show will never grow old. May it stay, forever golden.
How could we choose a favorite? They are all so wonderful! I do love Blanche because she is so deliciously hedonistic and selfish all the time that her vanity makes her seem more human and I love her lackadaisical towards men and all of her escapades on the show..... Sophia was hilarious and Dorothy and 'Rose had their own charm. My favorite show of all time! Watched every episode too many times to count! As much as everyone wants to claim to be the "Blanche" of their group, the simple truth is we are all Dorothy. She was the everyman character of the show, who struggles day to day watching others stumble along in ignorant bliss (Rose) or those who seem to get everything they want (Blanche) and occasionally comes upon some nugget of wisdom about life (Sofia). Without Dorothy, the show would never have worked. That's why the spin off after Bea left didn't work. It lacked it's everyman character.
@@michaeloberg3018 That was a crazy year for tv. So many of the shows I had watched my entire life ended! AND Johnny Carson Retired. What a cultural shift the summer of 1992 was.
Even if I'm still 14 years old, i relate to some of their problems that it became my favorite sitcom. I hope other young people like me will see this beautiful show
They were all great, but my favorite was Dorothy (Bea Arthur). Because of Bea’s Broadway stage background, I always connected more with her sarcastic delivery.
I think they all brought something different to the table, but my favorite is Blanche. But none of them could be replaced in my opinion. They all were great!
I loved them all , Dorothy reminded me of my mom and Sofia was exactly like my grandma and Blanche and Rose are exactly like my aunts . I grew up watching them my kids watch them now .
Dorothy, hands down. Her dry humor and quick wit was amazing. I think I was the only twelve year old who preferred this show to others aimed at my demographic at the time. I watched this on Saturday nights with my mom and sister.
I never missed an episode when it was new. Rose and Sophia were the funniest. I liked Rose's St.Olaf stories. The people she spoke about were as weird as the locals on Green Acres and Newhart. Rose was a hoot, and really sweet.
My nick name is Sophia from The Golden Girls, because People say that I remind them of Sophia. So she’s my favorite. Although, I love them all and the show.
Great video! I especially loved the clear shot of the kitchen set-up and the house blueprints that you included. I’ve been a HUGE fan of the Golden Girls for over 25 years. A good friend of mine gave me the DVD set of all 7 seasons (21 DVDs total!) for my 30th birthday and I still play the discs regularly while doing things around my house. Watching, and even just listening to the show, always brings me comfort-like a soft, warm blanket wrapped around me-not to mention the laughter that fills me up every time I watch or listen to the characters’ comedic banter with each other. My favorite character is a toss up between Sophia and Blanche. Both characters have so much self-confidence and quick wit, which is so inspiring and hilarious to watch. They’ll say whatever they want without a care in the world about whether it pissed someone off or not. I guess I lean a little more towards Sophia as my ultimate favorite out of all four ladies, because she did and said whatever she wanted and didn’t care if you liked it or not. Blanche was awesome too! But she was a little bit TOO self-centered, egotistical, and easily became jealous and nasty if someone else took the attention away from her. That trait also carried over with her Blanche character in The Golden Palace (like in episode 15 titled “Heartbreak Hotel”). I still love Blanche’s character so much, because her self-esteem and ego are so outrageously strong, yet at the same time, we’re able to experience her human flaws…which is comforting because we ALL have them. All four actresses showcased each character perfectly in The Golden Girls…Estelle, Bea, Rue, and Betty…and they will be greatly missed, now that they have all departed this world, but their spirits will live on eternally through their many theatrical performances which have been memorialized in film for us all to enjoy forever. Rest In Peace beautiful ladies. 🕊 We love you!! 💞🏆 (apologies for the super long comment! 🤭)

Rose (Betty White) was incredibly witty and funny in an ambiguously sarcastic way and graced with a dimpled smile. All of them made for a compelling “must see the next episode” viewing.
I used to watch this show with my grandmother when I was younger and I always thought Dorothy had the most appeal to me. I lover her "zingers" and I find that I have a very similar sense of humor as the character.
I liked Dorothy’s character. She was always always reasonable ~ level headed and it seemed to she kept the show together. In my opinion there was an episode or two where the writers lacked ‘truth in character’. The episode where Dorothy went to a Beatles review and brought one of the Beatle look a like home with her. That would have been best played by the character of Blanche.

Betty White will be 100 years old next January.
I love them all!! This show NEVER gets old.
They were all great, but my favorite was Dorothy (Bea Arthur). Because of Bea’s Broadway stage background, I always connected more with her sarcastic delivery.
My favorite golden girl was Dorothy always had something smart to say. Rest in peace
I think they all brought something different to the table, but my favorite is Blanche. But none of them could be replaced in my opinion. They all were great!
These comediennes were so hilarious, have every episodes, brilliant!!
I loved them all , Dorothy reminded me of my mom and Sofia was exactly like my grandma and Blanche and Rose are exactly like my aunts . I grew up watching them my kids watch them now .
Favourite character was Rose just so brilliant how she kept a straight face after some of her lines incredible
They're all my favorite! This show is my absolute go to show especially if I need a pick me up.
(apologies for the super long comment! 🤭)
Your comment is lovely ! I wish mine were longer but I’m not much of a writer lol
@@desertrose1226 ~ I have needed a reason to smile the past couple of days and you just did that for me.🥀 Thank you for your sweet comment.
{I’ve been stuck in my house for the past 2 days because of a winter ice storm that decided to plop down in my city & being from Texas, we don’t know what to do with ourselves when we see a snowflake or a patch of ice❄️🤔}.
Anyway…I never mean to post comments that long, but sometimes it just turns out that way, especially when talking about something I love. Thank you for taking the time to read it. I’m surprised ANYONE did. Ha! Just remember, sometimes it only takes a few words to say everything you want to say. Your reply to my comment was perfect. Thanks again! 💌
P.S. I hope it’s warmer where you are!
💫
My favorite has always been Dorothy. I remember when the show was on the air. I’d play in front of the TV while my Grandma watched it. I still love it today 😁
Though I love them all and enjoy the show immensely. My favorite had to be Rose in her stories. Kind of think that she was the smartest one of the bunch
Sophia, was my favorite, of the show. She always reminded me of my grandmother. Fiesty, headstrong and great wisdom. Miss you Nana.
Every single character is different ... LOVE ALLOF THEM !
Loved that show. Always made you laugh at something. In fact there were that many funny/ memorable moments its hard to pick which is my favourite.
Hard to say who is a fav. Loved them all. My grandmother used to comment on how great their cloths were.
There will never be a show like this, unique & crazy funny, cannot be matched!!! Loved all of them but Dorothy is my favorite ♥️ RIP to the fabulous FOUR
Dorothy: "Let me take your height, uh, I mean your coat. That was one of the funniest lines from her.
BLANCHE will always be my favorite 🤩 character because she wears high heels 👠 all the time. I love ❤️ hearing the pitter patter of her shoes when she runs.
Hilarious that Rue had got to keep the clothes and always liked that they never used the same outfit twice. ❤️
I had a smart-mouthed grandmother like Sophia and I'm from Minnesota.....Rose, of course!!!!

Rose (Betty White) was incredibly witty and funny in an ambiguously sarcastic way and graced with a dimpled smile. All of them made for a compelling “must see the next episode” viewing.
ROSE !!! All the way 😍 this show is the best! I got the box set as a wedding gift , probably one of the best gifts we got 😂
I used to watch this show with my grandmother when I was younger and I always thought Dorothy had the most appeal to me. I lover her "zingers" and I find that I have a very similar sense of humor as the character.
I watch it almost every day
I LOVE the show, watched it as it was 1st airing, still watch reruns today, My favorite character is definitely Rose!!
The Saint Olaf stories are fascinating. And don't forget: "picture it, Sicily.......".No, I cannot choose among them, they're all special to me.
Thanks for watching!
I really love the two-part episode "Sick and Tired" because of how it brought awareness to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
I have the series on cd and i watch it over and over . I love all the girls and its so hard to pick a favorite
My favorite was Rose and Sophie that can always make me smile and laugh when I am feeling down.
Absolutely loved it, still do, Dorothy was my favorite, our skin color is far different but we have many things in common..
My mother loves that show. So does my grandmother. I liked Estelle Getty’s character. I laughed a lot.
Love all of them, but nobody makes me laugh more than Bea Arthur. Dorothy has always been my favorite. Love Dorothy and Sophia’s relationship, too,
I liked Dorothy’s character.
I loved blanche ---she was her true self-stylish , funny, and fresh...What a great series!
