    Don't setup your dimension or text styles in model space. Always setup your styles in paper space. That way you won't be annoyed with the different scales you might be using in your project. If you want your dimensions to show in model space you can still use the CHSPACE command later. I use the CHSPACE command all the time for scaling dimensions, text, blocks, etc, between paper space and model space.

    • @deezynar

      Why would you want to dimension in paper space?

    Would you please tell us what is the use of "by block" in AutoCAD I've searched it but not satisfy with anyone's answer.
    Please sir do reply on my comment here.

      the "by block" option is basically taking the PROPERTIES of the selected block onto the current element

    how do you get to the dialogue box in the first place??! So annoying when people dont explain things properly. Howe do you get to the DIMSTY box?? I keep typing and pressing ENTER...nothing happens!!

    I wish you could use better" FIT" tab the one you said is not important and Use an overall scale button and scale accordingly the as required for drawing, we only need to fill text and arrow size as 2.5 mm or 3 mm etc if using metric units. That's the another way to work around.

    • @neji6559
      @neji6559 3 года назад

      Yes...this is much easy..

    • @neji6559
      @neji6559 3 года назад

      On the Dimstyle
      Go to FIT tab
      Dont TICK on annotative
      Select "Use overall scale of:"
      and key in scale that you want..
      Choose smaller number that your current use..

    • @neji6559
      @neji6559 3 года назад

      For me i use this setting
      Arrow size = 2.5
      Extend beyond = 1.25
      Offset from origin = 1.25
      Text Height = 3
      Text offset = 1.5
      FIT tab:
      use overall sacle = same with your layout/viewport scale

    Everytime I make a new drawing, the dimension styles I created are gone and all I have left is the default ones. Is there any way that I could save my new dimension style so that i can I still use it for my other drawings?

      Save your dwg as template (dwt)
      When you make new dwg, choose your template that you save as template before..

    • @davidr2943
      @davidr2943 3 года назад +3

      @@SidneiPoeta Drawings hold the dimstyle, not the program. If you make a .dwg and go from that one everytime you start a drawing, then you will have the dimstyle. More properly, save as a .dwt... Effectively the same as a .dwg, but, if saved with the rest of your .dwts, every time you make a new drawing from template, you will start the new drawing dialog in the correct folder so you can grab your .dwt.
      Alternatively, if you have already made a drawing and want to bring a dimstyle in, the easy way is to grab the dimension that you want the dimstyle from and CTRL+SHIFT+C (copy with basepoint) and then Ctrl+V (paste objects) that dimension into the current drawing. This will bring the dimstyle into that drawing.

    Have set up DIMSTYLE to this video yet did not get same results
    Example:_ Symbols& Arrows can not change Jog degrees from 315.0 to 45 like yours
    dim line in correct place yet no specs, arrows, or any thing else
    maybe one needs to do scale setup or what is one doing wrong
    RJ would appreciate feed back on matter

    Why don't any videos talk about "naming conventions"? Assuming we all want to be professional and will be working in an environment where you have to deal with 100s of drawings, it would be good to have a system for naming. I just don't think "new dimstyle" would be descriptive enough, over many years and 1000s of drawings from a wide variety of sources. Certainly, firms would likely need more than one dimstyle. Oh well, maybe that is for another video.

    I created a new dimstyle with my preferred settings and had the idea of going between the Standard and my preferred. When I created the new dimstyle it basically made my new style and Standard be the same. My new style had my settings but when I switched back to Standard the settings didn't revert back. Basically, I made Standard be updated to my settings. I do not understand why. Have you come across this?
