Best Video on dalia breeding i came across on YT! Keep up the great work. I will give it a try with the breeding this summer as my dalia fields just have started flowering. Greetings from Germany.
Outstanding video. As I am being my journey into Dahlia breeding. I would love to see more videos of how your seeding turn out. And I agree with your selection process.
Super interesting! Is the same process also if I want keep the same variety seeds for next year? This year I have bought a beautiful variety, how can I be sure to keep it? Thank you!
Thanks for the info, very helpful video! Questions... If you're breeding from Dahlia7 and crossing pollen with Dahlia11 to collect its seeds, will then Dahlia7's tuber still be true to that bloom? Have you tried cross pollinating with other plants like zinnia or peony etc? Thanks 🌺
Is there a way to know what you’re generally gonna get from cross breeding? Like for example, if you cross breed a white dahlia with a red one, do you generally get whites, reds, and pinks? Or is it truly random?
So I have a dahlia plant iced tea that came back from last year I’m in zone 7b in virginia and my spent dahlias don’t look like everyone else’s. They seem rotted and black on the plant and mushy, why aren’t they making seeds I see the bees all over could it be an insect issue possibly??
Great video! I'm trying to breed some of my dahlias here in my little cutflower Farm, just for fun... I'm glad I found your channel. I am going to subscribe! I have a channel as well if you'd like to checknit out! 👍
Awesome to see another young dude growing dahlias in qld, I’ve just gotten into it recently

Please do some more videos, Peter, you're a great presenter. I'd be interested to see some of your dahlia children and which parents they came from.
Super helpful video. Thanks Peter!
I'm looking forward to trialing your method this summer!

Thank you, exactly what I needed to learn, 2nd year growing dahlia, in the southern of Oregon

I’m dying to know how these turned out! I am beginning to hybridize daylilies but wanted to try my hand at other flowers too

Dahlia 7 and 11 remain unchanged. Their tubers will be true to original bloom. Only the seed produced will be a combination of the 2
Would like to see a follow up to this video. How did the seeds do?
Please update! How did it turn out? 🙏
Love the dirty hand method 😅❤

Great video! Also, what do you bench man. I want to be like you when I grow up! LOL
Question, why can't we just cut the male flower after taking the petals off and take it to the female and just rub the male on to female's stigmas?
I wonder myself.
How to distinguish between male and female flowers
You will use the same male flower repeatedly over several days because it continues to make pollen.
Do you not need to worry about the mother flower self-pollinating? Are dahlias not self-fertile?
What do you spray your garden before you spray with worm water
Thank you. Very helpfull

Thanks for the information - one question, how many seeds do you typically harvest from one flower head, following this process?
Please do an update! 🙏
River Caro and I love you and I hope your day is good
So good! Thankyou
