In this case, Ianto is referring to when Susie was brought back with the glove before and she drained Gwen. Ianto thinks Owen is going to do the same to Jack.
I' m gonna be honest, I did not like Owen too much before his death, except in Out Of Time. However, his episodes after his death were great. Particularly A Day in Death, Dead Man Walking episodes and the season finale :'(
its soo sad when Tosh is cryin n its all quiet. then... "Im really gonna need that hand back." that was brilliant. i remeba screamin when i watched this!!!
"I know what death is. Be brave." When they clasp hands and look into each other's eyes and Owen's sheer terror and Jack knowing what he will face, but knowing he'll (probably; he doesn't know that one day he will die of course, by the Doctor's side) never get to see it himself. Death. Nothing. It terrifies them both and the way they act it is amazing. Pure adrenaline and fear. Wow.
@@TheFallofTheEleventh though I can't find anything solid, I found a passing comment that jack knew about the face of boe and made a mystery out of it, without it actually being true. I also seem to remember finding something that said the face of boe (in the case that he is jack) didn't die, but that the body he was in simply stopped being able to function properly. Like how the daleks never die, but can become immobile (dalek graveyard Clara and Missy end up in)
i think that the gloves were actually meant to be used together, as on their own the effects are worthless pretty much. before i go into my theory lets recap what we know: the left glove brings the person back but they come back with death. then theres a whole thing about how death needs 13 souls to live forever in the mortal realm but thats not important for the hypothesis, and in fact i believe that is just the downside effect of using the glove on its own. the right glove locks onto both the user and the resurrected. the resurrected slowly drains the life force of the one that used the glove until they are dead and the resurrected lives on. the knife is used with this glove because when most people do anything it is with their right hand first, and as such the blade is both needed for and helps the resurrection to work. now heres my hypothesis of whats meant to happen when BOTH gloves are used: the dead person is stabbed with the blade in the chest. this would start the circuit off and be like a beacon of sorts for death to lock on to. the user of the gloves would then hold/cradle their head until death is summoned. death would then claim the soul of the one who used the glove and as a payment for the soul or as a trade off death would gift the leftover life energy to the deceased and allow them to live again, because the right glove only drains life, and not the souls. this would also i feel prevent death from going on an unhinged rampage since the right glove also locks the deal between the user and the resurrected, and would therefor only allow the soul of the user of the glove to be claimed. once the receiver of the life energy is resurrected they would remove the knife, the wound would heal and the deal would be complete, maybe with a final goodbye to the user before they part. but then again, thats just a theory of mine which i believe in but since both gloves were shot to bits and the blade was melted this theory cannot be tested in the show anymore, even if they still had the hub.
Well, my theory was that, The Timelords we're trying to make a way to bring back Rassilon, and the glove which they use on Owen is a failed attempt, which they chucked into the Eye of Harmony, which explains why it came through The Rift. The glove they mainly use is another one of the failed attempts, which only ressurects for a few minutes, or it could be the sucessful attempt along with the knife. Both fell into the Eye of Harmony after Gallifrey "fell". This glove could have been used on the Master, hence John Simm's return in Doctor Who. The gloves always seemed Timelord to me because of Rassilon's gaunlet, if they ressurected Rassilon with it, it seemed apt he would want to weaponize it. However I like your theory better as it gives a reason for the pairs. I always assumed that they weren't pairs because of the slight difference in colour.
the timelords wouldnt be so stupid to throw something like that in the time vortex or anywhere if the wrong person got a hold even the smallest amounts of there technology it could be devastating. they are a hermit race so much so even before the time war other beings thought they were just a legend rassilons gaunlet is a completely different tech.
How can people not see the love between those two. God Jack loves every member of that team and if had a choice he'd have them all (at the same time). And as far as the Owen being dead thing, if I've learned one thing from soap operas is that if you don't see the body then they can come back.
Dead doesnt stop people that died a very long time in the past from coming back through a tear in the rift. They can work her into the show again through time travel... I have watched all of the episodes up to children of the earth since Im in America we have to wait just alittle bit longer.
Jack: "Hate to say it but you'll get used to it." Yeah... Doesn't make the thought of it any better. Thought taken with the costs of immortality, I guess that is a drop in the bucket.
Just beacuse he's gone doesnt mean they wont bring him back. They have a rift manipulator. Tosh will probably make a few walk ons if nothing but flash backs for jack to remember her making something. They didnt sign either Owen or Tosh for the new season so hes most likely gone forever.
His weakness is that he is dead so while he is around and moving, he can't heal and none of his organs work. So he can't eat or drink and he has to be very careful because any injuries he suffers are permanent.

The way Owen does not have ANY patience for Gwen's lack of words cracks me up. "No offense Gwen, but I've only got two minutes to live!"
