    I was there in September1983 ( 7/2/83 ) for my military service in " Folgore " Brigade, Was a fantastic experience and I managed to make about twenty launches from the Hercules C-130 and the Chinook helicopter Ch-47., I remember that with the parachutes of the time (I think they were called ch55 or something like that) you wanted to pull the risers but you moved very little ! I also discovered that the reinforced concrete towers of the parachuting school with the false nacelles had been designed by my engineer father who had studied at the Engineering University of Pisa.

    My biggest regret as a young 82nd Airborne paratrooper, was not earning a set of foreign jump wings. Back in the 80's, it seemed everyone at Ft. Bragg wore a set of foreign jump wings on their BDU's. I know its no longer authorized except for dress uniforms now. I did earn a German Schutzenschnur medal while I was in Germany.

    The Folgore Paratroopers fought against the Australians and British in the Second Battle of El Alamein (1942), with no more weapons and ammunition and down to the last man. At the end of the battle the English granted the survivors the honor of arms.
    PS. The Germans of the Africa-Corps escaped on the Tiger-Panthers, using the Italian "Allies" as a rear guard. But on the Eastern Front the Germans paid dearly.

      Us Americans don't shuffle anymore. We walk normally. But Italian Paras still shuffle at airborne school (CAPAR). This aircraft was the C-27J. Very similar to the C-130 😉

    Zona lancio "NELLA", si chiama ancora così?! Era Altopascio (se non ricordo male) , mentre "TANIA" era Tassignano dove ho fatto i lanci dal C130 Hercules e dal CH47 Chinook. 1985 gestivo i collegamenti dalla sala radio della SMIPAR con l'aereoporto (CICOGNA 30 ALFA) e appunto le zone lancio NELLA e TANIA, bèi ricordi 👍

    Hey SGT, commenting again one of your videos. I’m really interested in going airborne and could get the option this summer, what do you recommend to get over the heights and fear with jumping?

    • @pousinboots
      @pousinboots  6 месяцев назад +6

      I recommend going to a rock climbing gym. Get harnessed in, climb up. Make sure you’re belayer is ready and let go of the wall.
      I used to do it for fun where I would even have some slack built in so that I fall a bit before the belayer would catch me.
      Don’t be afraid to push yourself off the wall. Use your legs also to get used to bouncing off of the wall. This instills trust in equipment which is what you need to be a paratrooper.

    • @generalkaffenberger8675
      @generalkaffenberger8675 2 месяца назад +3

      Your "MAXIMUM Fear of Height" occurs at 34.1 Feet above Your Ground Altitude. As You go higher than that, Your fear DECREASES.
      Also, Instead of "Looking Down", develop the habit of "Looking Out toward the distant Horizon". It does help.

      To say. The Folgore Paratroopers do bound launches at an altitude of 400 meters (1300ft) at night. They sporadically do bound jumps at even 213.36 meters (700 feets), but as training and in a non combat scenario is evalued as an useless risk, even if they are capable to do that.
