Wisdom teeth usually come out around 17 to 25 years old. If you are planning to have your braces, you do not need to wait for your wisdom teeth to come out. Even in a young patient who had orthodontic treatment at an early age, you need not to worry about your wisdom teeth affecting the treatment done.
A wisdom tooth is recommended for extraction or oral surgery when it becomes impacted. If there is not enough space for the third molar or wisdom tooth to come out and becomes partially erupted, wrong position of the tooth, or it is being blocked by bone, tissue or another tooth are factors that would indicate removal of the third molar or wisdom tooth.
This can be done before, during or after orthodontic treatment.
