I dont think a nixie clock needs usb-c, it's just charging it doesnt really need any of thev data transfer cpabilities

Is it possible to fill a nixie tube with helium or argon to make the digits glow under diferent color like pink or blue?

If I recall correctly, I believe they do use a mix of Argon and Neon for these - not sure what other colors you can achieve with different mixes?

@@Maraxius it always fascinated me how fluorescent glowbottle starters glow in different vivid colors depending on the gas used inside. the argon is very rish blue violet color, the helium is rich bright pink, neon is orange red and xenon argon mix glow bright white. I always wanted to have a glow lamp that would glow under different color than juts plain orange of neon gas. That is why I wonder if it were possible to make a nixie tube glow with different colors using different gases

the neon/argon mix is the brightest you can get afaik, I remember seeing a full-argon nixie once, and it had a shper faint purple glow (barely visible at all)

So I'm 2 years into owning this thing...as an EE what stands out to me is HOLY stable oscillator batman. I set the time 2 years ago and it hasn't gained or lost a minute. It's connected to an AC/DC USB supply so it's not getting time from the computer and I sincerely doubt it has a radio receiver. So the oscillator must just be a really really nice piece with excellent temperature stability and precise oscillation frequency.

@@daliborfarnyyeah not bad, says worst case of +/-2ppm so you’re looking at max gain or loss of 1 minute per year. That’s also the DS max, they don’t even give a min or typical.
