I think the overarching thought I have about this discussion is that our doctrine is so beautiful and true and good. I loved the point Todd made when he said something along the lines of, “Who cares about horses in the Book of Mormon when the whole thing is actually an endowment narrative!” I think we can become so embattled by the constant attacks and accusations against our church and beliefs that we don’t take enough time to actually understand how amazing our beliefs really are. It’s so easy to get tripped up by things that don’t matter in the grand scheme of things (like horses in the Book of Mormon) and if we allow that to happen we miss attaining our divine potential which culminates in obtaining the fruit of the tree of life.
Very, very well said. Our doctrine is so profoundly beautiful and incredible and humbling - makes me wonder if some people just can't believe how amazing it is and therefore, it must be false. I can't believe I am so blessed to have had it my entire life. Wow! Talk about being LOVED!!
I hope you will bring him back... this was NOT long enough. He has a lot to talk with you and all of us about and the conversation is fulfilling!! Thank you @Greg Matsen and @Todd McLaughlin
You know a discussion is good when it's an hour and eighteen minutes long, but it takes two hours to get through because I have to pause and jump into the scriptures. Thank you Greg for these faith building conversations. Keep them coming.
This is awesome that you had Todd on! He did my temple prep for my endowment a few months ago, felt super prepared going in and understood what was happening all the way through.
This discussion really brought great insights about the Temple and Endowment. I really like how Todd explains in a way that is understanding and brings it down to the level where everyone can learn. Thank you for the video. We need more of these discussions in our troubled world. The Gospel of Christ is such a blessing in our lives.
Well...not exactly sure Todd brings it down to my level of understanding, but I am getting some of it - and it is profoundly beautiful and perfect!! A year ago, I would not have been able to understand much of what either man was teaching today. I am deeply appreciative of their decades of intense study and how much they are sharing with us.
Gotta chuckle by this comment... I was thinking the exact opposite regarding an understandable discussion. I think going too deep too fast and too wide publicly may not be the best. Especially seems to be approaching the doctrines of men... mingled with scripture.
These guys did really really good on this one . Not going over your head . It was really good . I think because of Gregg Matson explaining things so well it kept Todd on a better level. I think Gregg. Matson did such a good job .
This is the type of conversation that lights my soul on fire. Thank you both for your respective contributions to faith-fostering content. There is nothing more beautiful than the doctrine of Christ.
This is my first visit here. The title caught my interest. Wow! So much….. I can clearly see that my understanding of The Book of Mormon is extremely limited. So this is why we are encouraged to read and study the scriptures all the time. I feel like I know nothing. Yes, I have received my own blessings of the temple, but, I know nothing! I seek to learn. Does anyone crawl us through this like a baby learning to crawl who hopes to walk some day? Where does one begin? I’ll be 80 this year. Will I learn what I need and want to know and understand in this lifetime? I doubt it.
Brilliant! I love these discussions. I wish we did these kind of deep dives in the Gospel Doctrine, (and bring back Gospel Principles for those who are beginners) so that we truly can be educated more fully in the strait and narrow path...But I guess if wishes were horses beggars would ride. I am not the prophet, and the order of things in our lessons are in wise hands. Thank goodness for Cwic Media! (and other helpful sites) so we can spiritually feast on Doctrine. Currently reading the INFINITE ATONEMENT by Callister again, again revisiting the greatness of the gift that was given to us, and aligning my spirit with Christ anew. Highly recommend this book to all.
Yes, I agree on that. It's hard because some need milk, and others meet. So we give milk. Another option is the Cwic Study Group - www.cwicmedia.com/study-group
Man, I had been a little confused why the church has been building more and more temples and these temple focused videos that have been popping up make it crystal clear. I can’t even believe all of the connections between Christ, the scriptures, and the temple that have been in plain sight that I’ve never seen. This is truly the work of God on earth.
I needed to see this video. Thank you. My testimony has been struggling as I’ve watched academic biblical scholars (Dan Maklelan) attempt to dismantle fundamental truths from a scholarly view. The temple is real. We can come closer to Christ and Heavenly Father by abiding by the principles taught there. As discussed in this video, the priesthood has been on this earth (on and off) for millennia. And the temple is a key portion of that order.
I love that you dive into "deep" doctrine, or rather the meaning of doctrine. Growing up I was always told to just worry about the basics. The basics are important no doubt, but I look at it like growing up through grade school. If you ever only study and learn at a 3rd grade level you never truly grow and that education will only sustain you for so long. Thanks again for this amazing conversation.
That was so awesome! I feel so energized all the while my skin is tingling. I am so grateful for you both! I tell you what, I will never pass, if I can help it from speaking with the tongue of angels in the circle while learning the true order of prayer.
Wow! I learned a lot! Admittedly some of that was “steak” that I don’t have the right teeth for but in the midst of all that, it hit me how much we communicate by the spirit. Once again, it gave me another reason why we need to read scriptures daily and be in tune with theHoly Ghost ❣️ And…. there is no way Joseph Smith authored the Book of Mormon!
32:25 I agree with what was said about Lehi and other book of Mormon prophets potentially receiving that Melchizedek priesthood power directly from God. The purpose of the priesthood is ultimately to help us develop the POWER and ATTRIBUTES of Godliness, and an ordination to the priesthood would only be a secondary part of God's program towards helping mankind to obtain that divine goal. Lehi likely didn't need an ordination to obtain the power manifested in the ordinances of the higher priesthood. He was given the ceremonial expression of an understanding to what that power is and how it works through the visions and visitations he had with the Lord and other heavenly messengers. That's why his vision of the Tree of Life we have now seems so representative of the current endowment ceremony and symbolisms to us. It is in the ordinances of the priesthood where the power of godliness is manifest, and obtaining the power through that order is what God's glory in us actually is. We become the seed that sprouts up and grows outward into a new tree of life when we attain to this power. A man may be ordained to the priesthood, and given authorization to it's rites, but that authority is absolutely useless without ultimately developing the POWER it points towards. That power is actually only obtained by individuals who will honor that sacred covenant relationship and responsibility by the accountability of order through God. This also looks a lot like an individual who is willing to experiment upon the actual ability of God's order and hold the actual order up in accountability to the power it can truly wield. We must not only understand that the power exists, but we must know how to use it, and then actually do so. That is how men and women alike have access to that power, and that is the difference between "holding" the priesthood, and actually exercising or wielding the power of it. Priesthood power is the power of God. Same laws and rules that even He abides in. His gift to us is for us to be able to obtain it fully. For many men who "hold" the priesthood, they actually have no idea what to do with that authority, and I would suggest if any man wants to know how to better understand how to obtain and use the actual power of the priesthood, that he look no further than the ways of his wife, or any woman for that matter, who naturally cares for and helps meet the spiritual and temporal needs of others. This is why many women in the church actually have much more power in the priesthood than the men who have been charged and authorized with the responsibility to officiate in and administer the ordinances of the priesthood do, and also why I feel that being ordained is only important as an introduction or initiation into that order for the men. Its my opinion that women truly don't need an ordination to start in on learning that accountability towards God, or to learn how to start developing that power; even from an early age.
One thing that sticks out to me in 22:30 with the condescending nature and the tree of life is that you must be buried below the ground like a seed to then sprout up high into the air. so condescending referes to the tree in that way
I listened. My husband is getting ready to listen and then we are listening with our scriptures open and markers ready! Thank you what a great conversational lesson!❤
One of the most profound podcasts I've heard in a while. It's been a long time since I've visited the Temple but your discussion was like fireworks for me.
Great discussion! Gods plan for his children as it pertains to this life is a book that opens with the fall, and ends with the endowment. What a plan! Despite the struggles he puts us through, I cant imagine a more loving plan.
She washes the husband’s feet. Very little info on this ordinance out there. This could be a shadow of the matriarchal selection, process of kings in ancient Egypt and with the ancient Hebrews. See Bruce Porter for more information about those ancient Egyptian temple rights.
Hi Todd and Greg, thank you guys for this enlightening conversation! Wow! This makes so much more sense about the Temple and how much more we all need to learn about the Power of the Priesthood and the Holy Order of the Son of God! We all, as women and men need to understand the Power we are Endowed with from on High each time we leave the Temple. By the Power of God's Love in our hearts, minds and souls we can literally, each individually lock Satan out of our hearts, minds and souls through Christ and His atoning power, of repentance and forgiveness every day, so that Satan cannot influence us anymore with his negative, dark power. We must all continue to bask in the light of God and learn more and more from God to receive more light and Truth. And trust in God with all of our hearts, minds and souls. If you will look at the Star of David, you see two triangles emerging one with another a Heavenly triangle coming down from Heaven to emerge into an Earthly triangle that is rising up toward Heaven. Here is where Heaven and Earth meet in an eternal Circle, or an eternal round. We have a Heavenly Father merging with an Earthly Mother and family, wanting to be sealed together for time and all eternity. It's just a thought that I have had for many years. 😊
@@HomesliceDrummer it’s actually more than that. Kings and priests are spoken of in the book of revelation and Isaiah. This is something that will happen to those living into the transition of the millennium. We will obtain the fulness of the priesthood (power over the elements etc.). Kings and priests are political and spiritual callings/office. Second anointing etc.
Excellent conversation, I really got a lot out of it. I had to go back and re-listen to make sure I caught everything. Love your show Greg, very insightful!
I really like Bruce Porter’s definition of repentance. He says it’s the process of changing one’s character. Pretty much what Greg said. Very interesting video. I felt like it zoomed right over my head many times but still really liked it. I’m going to listen again to see if I catch on a little more.
I would love to hear more about women and the matriarchy. As a woman myself it seems I don’t understand as well as Todd seemed to elude to know, specifically within the temple. I would love to hear more insights and more in depth discussions about the differences between the patriarchy and matriarchy. There’s not a lot of resources where I can turn to get more understanding.
Look into Egypt. Yes, Bruce porter. I believe there is a good episode with Greg and Bruce on chic media. I know this because I went to Egypt with them a year ago.
Thanks for this, as someone preparing to go to the temple for my endowments for the first time, it opened my eyes to an extent. Thank you once again. 🌼
He that eyes to see and ears to hear... everytime you see that look for the mysteries of God. Aka the mountain/temple initiation. It's a way to speak to some in the presence of others. He that has ears to hear and eyes to see.
Love hearing you two discussing these things. Please have Brother McLauchlin on again and again so that you both can get into this deeper. Can't remember where I heard this (Shattering Triangles?) Prayer circle: Christ is in the center of the prayer circle (point of the compass). We see each other differently if we see each other with Christ in the middle of our view of each other (or the person in the circle represents Christ).
Yes this is the mor ancient understanding from early Christian fathers. The people in the circle also turn their back to the world and dance with their hands.
Even though it's not deliberated on too much here the point made beginning at 33:55 is super important, and ties in with the New Testament, and flies in the face of the idea that too many have that a man can get to heaven on his own while a woman can only get in with her husband's permission. The reality is practically the opposite. Okay, that's enough for now. Well, I will say that a man can only achieve exaltation if he has become the type of man his wife would want to spend eternity with. There's too much talk of, "My husband is a jerk but the Church tells me I can only get to heaven if I just put up with him." But that is not how it works. UPDATE: I see that this gets touched on somewhat later.
If you want to understand certain elements and symbols of the temple endowment, study the coronation proceedings of kings and queens. It was very enlightening to me and confirmed to me when you said we are "practicing" for the real thing. We get many dress rehearsals as we are in our own process of sanctification to become such. 💡
I remember a YT presentation Brother McLaughlin gave a few years ago and trying to get it all into some notes. I could lay my hand on them in less than 1 minute.
Greg, i always love hearing your thoughts on the temple!! I struggle with guests sometimes... it depends if I've seen them arguing on Facebook pages or anything like that. However, that being said, this was a very interesting episode, and i would like to hear more 😁
Great video Greg. There was so much there and Todd was amazing. Getting into these deep doctrinal discussions is so great and so fun. I learned a lot. I love the different views and angles both you and Todd presented. Another great and important show, thank you.
I’ve been hoping you two would get together for a discussion for a long time. This was a nice intro and I’m excited for future discussions between y’all.
Great discussion, Greg. The DBR thing is new to me, have you covered that in more depth in another video? I have wondered about what Moses 6:7 is calling the Priesthood: Moses 6: 1 And Adam hearkened unto the voice of God, and called upon his sons to repent. 2 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bare a son, and he called his name Seth. And Adam glorified the name of God; for he said: God hath appointed me another seed, instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. 3 And God revealed himself unto Seth, and he rebelled not, but offered an acceptable sacrifice, like unto his brother Abel. And to him also was born a son, and he called his name Enos. 4 And then began these men to call upon the name of the Lord, and the Lord blessed them; 5 And a book of remembrance was kept, in the which was recorded, in the language of Adam, for it was given unto as many as called upon God to write by the spirit of inspiration; 6 And by them their children were taught to read and write, having a language which was pure and undefiled. 7 Now this same Priesthood, which was in the beginning, shall be in the end of the world also.
That passage seems to be an allegory to eternal families. Priesthood authority being passed on to all generations through righteous living and keeping the commandments which God has revealed to us. But it’s probably deeper than that
I think the tree is the ordinance of the resurrection The fruit is the convent The Angel and the flaming sword represents repentance It is only by passing through repentance that we can receive exaltation
Nephi asks for an explanation of his father’s vision and the tree is more the Devine feminine and the fruit the son. But hey I think you could argue there’s even more symbolism packed in there. God works on many levels at once.
My current measure of pondering and "distill upon thy soul"... is that the Tree of Life is the Love of God which is Knowledge of all things--the only measure by which Full and Pure Love IS or I AM. To say it is the full presence of the Godhead including Mother is accurate because their full presence is knowledge of all things. That is who They are... and from the point of view of One Eternal Now... it is who we all are too. Knowing all things must include not knowing all things in every degree possible--the very process of line upon line unveiling of Light which Father describes as... "The man has become as one of us, to know good and evil." Adam and Eve are now in the same process Father has been in.. or always IS.
Why do so many LDS teachers act like that brother of Jared experience isn't possible? Moroni wrote it right there. . I heard it again today. No wonder miracles cease because of unbelief.
29:05 Have we mastered judgement, mercy and faith to such an extent that now we're delving into realms mysterious? I can't help but wonder if discussions like these are consistent with looking beyond the mark. I'm sorry if my comment comes across as arrogant or naive.... maybe even judgemental. I just wonder why we make the simple gospel of love so complex when it is not supposed to be.
Hey brother, I understand where you're coming from. The "milk" portion of the Doctrine of Christ is simple - but there is so much meat to enjoy for those who humbly seek. The meat may appear daunting and unnecessarily complex at first, but if we hold fast to the word of Christ it becomes a rich tapestry of the "Doctrines of the Kingdom". Remember, Nephi highly encourages us to seek the mysteries. He laments over our unbelief. The mysteries are not vain secrets, but the truths that lead us back to the Father, Mother, and Son, and to eternal life. The "what" of the Gospel is simple, but the "how" and "why" are rich. Also, mastering "judgement, mercy, and faith" *require* an immersion in the mysterious.
I have a question to any expert out there. There was a women many years ago that drove negligently by driving too fast and coming up on a slower vehicle. She locked up the brakes, swerved and skidded across 3 1/2 lanes of a highway, fishtailing and slamming the side of her car into the side and rear axle of a pickup truck attempting to evade her. The evasive action taken suggests that the action kept the truck from going on top of her and killing her. She lived, the impact (45 mph) caused the truck(50 mph) to flip 2 or 3 times killing the truck driver. This woman was embraced by an airbag manufacture to promote their product and went to there meeting and as reported in the news article "Autoliv: Results are no accident" states she said her car was smashed by a pickup truck and the other driver was killed. Her statement and image was used by this airbag manufacture in their 2006 Annual financial report that can be downloaded. My question should a Mormon after killing an innocent individual as a result of her negligent driving, be profiting (sympathy of others, maybe financially/party favorites) by lying and deception by omission. The evidence shows that the fishtailing effect of her car, caused the left rear of her car to slide under the bed of the pickup in front of the rear tire then the truck wheel running over the back crushing the rear of the car. She never stated she caused it. Also since it states in 2 Ne 9:34 Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell If she never states the truth and continues portray herself as a victim instead of the perpetrator will she be REDEEMED. Just as a side note, she had her child after this incident. Her child married (presumably in the temple) on the birth day of the father of 3 girls under 10 that she killed. I wonder if she was allowed in the temple.
I’m so sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one consumes us until we find peace in Christ. May I share the wisdom I received when facing a similar situation? “Pray for your enemies”. When I first heard these words, my heart stirred in anger. How could I pray from someone who had destroyed my life and the lives of others? Those words would not fade - and eventually I took my first step. I put the woman’s name on the prayer roll of the Temple. I did the best I could at that time. Eventually, I knelt to pray for her as I had been encouraged to do so. Over time, it became easier to pray for her. One day, as I was kneeling in prayer, the Heaven’s opened my mind. I could see this woman and how wretched her life was. She was in so much emotional and physical pain. Next I could see my life and all the many blessings the Lord had poured out upon me - and all the blessings He was going to pour out upon me. Did the woman change? No. But the Lord changed my heart and blessed me with His peace…”that passeth all understanding”. I pray you will think about my experience and listen to the same wisdom. God Bless.
Very little. The wife washes the husbands feet. Could be a shadow of the ancient matriarchal selection process of picking and selecting kings. Also related to coronation rights. Check out Bruce Porter for more information.
2:08 Actually in the latest changes Satan doesn’t say she won’t die. That was excised. In fact I now find it hard to see how he’s deceiving her. Everything he says now is correct.
Hey Jerry, thanks for the comment. Sure, but the changes in the temple drama today do not change the scriptures. Genesis 3:3-4 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. Moses 4:9-11 9 But of the fruit of the tree which thou beholdest in the midst of the garden, God hath said-Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 10 And the serpent said unto the woman: Ye shall not surely die; 11 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Of course in the narration of these accounts, God is shown to have said the opposite and here Satan is countering God's words. That is a big part of the story. God says there will be judgment, Satan says there will not. And sure enough, God's words are fulfilled after they partake of the fruit when the cherubim arrive on the stage. Of course, we have also removed the curses (natural consequences) for Adam and Eve. But of course, we live those curses every day.
@@CwicShow Thanks for the clarification. I suppose you can also imply that he’s deceiving her by not telling her she’ll suffer a spiritual death. Either way seems like a pretty important thing to take out since it’s the lie he told her.
I think he is telling her that. To our modern, scientific minds, we do not see or hear spiritual duality in ancient texts. But it's everywhere in the scriptures. I would recommend one of the two best-supporting accounts of the Garden of Eden (both in the Book of Mormon) Alma 11-12 First, Amulek speaks of the physical death, then Alma speaks of the spiritual. "Death" is judgment and physical death. Anyway, I always appreciate your comments!
1:16:06 Christ didn't "have the Melchizedek priesthood, per se" because He WAS the manifestation of the order. Melchizedek held the order after The Son of God. That order was given by the premortal Christ or Jehovah. Jesus was simply manifesting what He had already taught the ancients about the order. Yes, we call it the Melchizedek priesthood, but "it" is what Christ is actually demonstrating by being baptized by the order He gave anciently that ended up in John's hands. As a reminder, the Aaronic priesthood isn't a separate priesthood. It is an appendage to the authority of God given to men on the earth as a whole. It may be given in a preparation format alone, but it is a part of the same thing and the ordinances of the "Melchizedek" priesthood are still exercised in continuing conjunction with the preparatory rites. You can't have the fullness of the priesthood in operation without both. It's a combination. The full rites of the priesthood can only be brought through the lower parts of the priesthood as a whole. I love this discussion about the Savior manifesting the way. He is the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father, but by Him.
Thank you Greg and Todd both for a very wonderful content presentation. While I was watching, I had some sudden giggles come to me as I thought about HelloSaints Pastor Jeff, and how confused he would’ve been. Lol. Hopefully he will watch this and learn something.❤❤❤😂
In Revelation 22:14 it states; 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. How I understand it is, Adam and Eve broke the laws of God, and as it states in the Temple that Christ represents the veil, He comes between us and the Father as we have now fallen out, gets us to admit we were wrong, and repent pays for our mistakes until we ourselves can keep the commandments which includes love John 13:34-35. We know that Lamen and Lemuel never got to the tree of life as they never kept the commandments. Therefore wandered off into the mist of darkness, If we continue to break God's laws without repenting and doing our best to keep them and at some point live them perfectly can we ever stand in the presence of God? We know Christ said if thou lovest me keep my commandments. Just a thought 🤔
I think our current temple ceremony has definitely been dumbed down to keep the wokies who oddly still want to attend happy. The deep stuff though, the spiritual stuff if you will, has at the same time been highly augmented. Soon, the temple will be the only place we hear about the order of God, the heavens, family structure and our divinely created two sexes and how sinful it is to mess with it by promoting the satanic counterfeit we’re seeing introduced into our chapels. Thank you, to Cwic and your guests, for this stuff. It helps me and my barely hanging on testimony (not so much of God anymore, but in the truthfulness of a restored gospel teaching church) as we struggle with sin, hate, unrepentant evil and ignorance on earth.
Many restorations have happened and then head to entropy. It’s literally in all the scriptures. But there are also those who preserve and restore. Like Lehi and Nephi.
I would LOVE to hear the symbolism of the creation drama. What does the creation tell us about ourselves and why is it a major story in every temple endowment. How can the drama of the creation make a difference in my own life?
The presentation of the endowment gives an overview of the plan of salvation but one thing that has always alluded me is why so much time is spent on the creation. Is it just that so much of the presentation has been shortened except for that portion and so it now takes up a disproportionate amount of time?
The creation is a parallel to our creation and to the priesthood. Read Abraham 3. Also, the creation exists to allow us the physical ordinances required for Exaltation. It is a onramp to covenants.
@@jerry_phillips As I stated in the video, priesthood is order (DBR). The creation is creating order. We get an order of the cosmos in the creation story, then an order of priesthood or hierarchy/patriarchy, in the delegation of the creators/messengers. This is exactly what is happening in Abraham chapter 3.
It seems that Faith, Trust, Honor, Authority, Proving, Truth and Power (Empowerment) are the concepts at work in reclaiming/receiving/being restored to the Presence of Deity.
I'm new to your channel. Liked and subbed my first video the other day. I feel like I've been prepared to hear this message. Thank you. Gotta get back into the BOM.
"What is the Tree of Life"? On a universal scale, to me the Tree of Life is the symbolic splendor representing the living realities, eternal purpose and spiritual lineage and priesthood order for the everlasting to everlasting Family of GOD. The pure and holy structure of GODKIND from eternity past to the eternities to come and is the continuous posterity of the living GODS compared to a beautiful and glorious living tree of eternal celestial unity and righteousness. It's trunk, nourished by and is, the love of the universal Gods who are rooted in existence from eternity past ... never ending. The tree of Life that will never stop growing. Our heavenly Father and Mother are one of it's many branches and we are their fruit created innocent in their image and likeness and created by them. In fact, I couldn't deny the Tree of Live is love and spiritual procreation as well. Without either there would be no such tree ... no living things at all. :>) Since the fall of Adam and Eve from innocence into the cloudiness of mortality, at this time, our veiled minds cannot perceive the fullness of it's glory. But our eyes have been opened sufficiently and engrained in our two DNA's... is the ability to learn through the fog the truth of it all because of the partaking from the Tree of Knowledge. Given the choice of choosing good over evil... our Creator(s) loudly hint..... "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever" In my understanding, translating to... now that we have the ability to know better... will each of us pursue celestial glory? That's my story and I'm stick'in to it. LOL Thanks for this video Greg and Todd. I'm enjoying it immensely. :>)
I’ve never heard this level of commentary on endowment before. Wondering if it’s all quite appropriate. Maybe so, but I know this much discussion outside the temple itself, was not common when I received my endowment, or for many many years following.
Here is a little something to chew on. The word Head as found in Godhead is an old fashioned way of saying hood, like priesthood. So keep that in mind when you're talking about orders, and the priesthood and the other things mentioned here.
Yeah I also think of the old Christian concept of Headship which was recently greatly removed from the temple. The idea that the feminine bring the spirits into the world and the masculine guides them back out. Hence why Eve harkens to Adam. I believe the females veil is connected to this too.
This!
But interestingly it is proven that horses were in that region during the time of the writing of The Book of Mormon 0:36
Wonderful point. It echoes Neal Maxwell when he warned not to “get caught up in the thick of thin things…”
I think horses are interesting too, but I get his point. BOM gets more and more interesting every year for those reaching to learn.
Or rewinding and listening to insights again
This is awesome that you had Todd on! He did my temple prep for my endowment a few months ago, felt super prepared going in and understood what was happening all the way through.
Does not surprise me.
Agreed!

@@CwicShow I was filled so Sunday is on my radar! Fantastic conversation.
I appreciate this conversation. I've been in the church my whole life and have never seen all this as you both described. Wow! I'm fed and grateful❤️
If you enjoyed this, look for other videos I have done with Val Larsen. Also, I will have a similar video this weekend. The gospel is deep and true!
Check out all of Todd's stuff on YT. He has done many interviews, and has a channel called Shattering Triangles.
Check out interviews with Dave Butler, and Bruce Porter. Very faith affirming and fascinating.
I stopped the podcast every 5 min or so to ponder the incredible things you were sharing. needed to digest it all. beautiful explanations
Go to the meat without leaving the milk.
You got bad advice!
Once again, it gave me another reason why we need to read scriptures daily and be in tune with theHoly Ghost ❣️
And…. there is no way Joseph Smith authored the Book of Mormon!
Please have another discussion with this brother. This has been the best gospel discussion. Thank you Greg!
You're welcome!
Todd McLaughlin is my favorite. He has his own RUclips channel with a couple of other good guys. It is called shattering triangles.
One thing that sticks out to me in 22:30 with the condescending nature and the tree of life is that you must be buried below the ground like a seed to then sprout up high into the air. so condescending referes to the tree in that way
That’s fantastic!
You should do more of these kind of videos! Phenomenal explanation! 🤍
What Todd said there at the very end is true, these discussions increase my faith and help me open up the gospel and I'm seeing it everywhere.
Yep, it’s bad advice that says one should stay ignorant.
I listened. My husband is getting ready to listen and then we are listening with our scriptures open and markers ready! Thank you what a great conversational lesson!❤
Wonderful!
Fascinating, I wish I understood better, but line upon line! I will need to listen to this again and again! I need more of this.
I stopped many times during this to write down concepts, thoughts, scripture references. Thank you both! I hope there is more!
This was most enlightening! Thank you, Greg and Todd, for your inspired scholarship and the synergistic way that you taught together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thiank you for this insightful discussion! This is the 2nd time I am watching this and learning more
One of the most profound podcasts I've heard in a while. It's been a long time since I've visited the Temple but your discussion was like fireworks for me.
Great to hear!
Great discussion! Gods plan for his children as it pertains to this life is a book that opens with the fall, and ends with the endowment. What a plan! Despite the struggles he puts us through, I cant imagine a more loving plan.
Wonderful discussion! How can I find out more about the "second anointing done by women?"
The process of true repentance is a gift!
This is so profound and enlightening. Thank you 🙏❤️
IMO, The Temple ordinances are a foreordination for the next life, much like the foreordination that we received prior to being born into this life.
Well said.
@@HomesliceDrummer
it’s actually more than that. Kings and priests are spoken of in the book of revelation and Isaiah. This is something that will happen to those living into the transition of the millennium. We will obtain the fulness of the priesthood (power over the elements etc.). Kings and priests are political and spiritual callings/office. Second anointing etc.
That's the best explanation I've heard. Well said.
I have never thought of this before. Thank you for sharing. I need to think on this - it is truly a beautiful belief.
I have never thought of it this way. However, it makes SO much sense. Thank you for this nugget of truth.
"It is greater to be trusted than it is to be loved." is what my Mission President used to say.
I'm gonna have to listen to this again.... and maybe again. I'm mind-blown and aware that I don't understand all of what they are talking about.
Definitely listen again.
Me too! So deep but so good. I need to listen 5 more times
What a treat to see Todd discussing with you today! Sure miss him in AZ. Loved this episode!!
When Christ was baptized he was modeling our path back to the father. Again, a pattern. Good job on this one guys!
The Lectures on Faith refer to Jesus as the prototype of a saved being.
Excellent conversation, I really got a lot out of it. I had to go back and re-listen to make sure I caught everything. Love your show Greg, very insightful!
Wonderful!
Please have this guest back for more
Incredible discussion of truth and doctrine. You provide us with True value that is life altering and I’m speaking personally. Thank you!
That is so great to hear. Thank you!
I really like Bruce Porter’s definition of repentance. He says it’s the process of changing one’s character. Pretty much what Greg said. Very interesting video. I felt like it zoomed right over my head many times but still really liked it. I’m going to listen again to see if I catch on a little more.
President Nelson said similar things. It's about constant improvement.
This was wonderfully eye & ear opening but too short. So many things to talk about! Looking forward to more of these discussions. Thank you both!!
Check out David Butler, Bruce Porter and Margaret Barker.
Love hearing that!
He that eyes to see and ears to hear... everytime you see that look for the mysteries of God. Aka the mountain/temple initiation. It's a way to speak to some in the presence of others. He that has ears to hear and eyes to see.
The book Preparing for your Endowment by Cory Jensen is superb to prepare you! ❤️❤️❤️
I think that was Brother Dunford speaking of the symbols of circles.
This conversation oozes spiritual knowledge and feelings.
Love this channel bro Greg. Normally you raise my BP some. This broadcast just brought me joy! Thanks

Awesome!
Thanks!
You’re welcome! And thank you!
Great discussion, Greg. The DBR thing is new to me, have you covered that in more depth in another video? I have wondered about what Moses 6:7 is calling the Priesthood:
Moses 6:
1 And Adam hearkened unto the voice of God, and called upon his sons to repent.
4 And then began these men to call upon the name of the Lord, and the Lord blessed them;
5 And a book of remembrance was kept, in the which was recorded, in the language of Adam, for it was given unto as many as called upon God to write by the spirit of inspiration;
6 And by them their children were taught to read and write, having a language which was pure and undefiled.
7 Now this same Priesthood, which was in the beginning, shall be in the end of the world also.
That passage seems to be an allegory to eternal families. Priesthood authority being passed on to all generations through righteous living and keeping the commandments which God has revealed to us. But it’s probably deeper than that
This is something I have developed and will be found in my book. Here is an episode touching on it - ruclips.net/video/nBHGClSxWOQ/видео.html
Beautiful discussion and very enlightening. Thank you so much!!!

Good discussion I have never thought about the rippling effect of baptism since my mission.
Thanks for this delicious feast❤
Thanks Greg, Todd seemed to have a wonderful spirit that accompanied his comments.
I think the tree is the ordinance of the resurrection
The fruit is the convent
The Angel and the flaming sword represents repentance
It is only by passing through repentance that we can receive exaltation
Nephi asks for an explanation of his father’s vision and the tree is more the Devine feminine and the fruit the son. But hey I think you could argue there’s even more symbolism packed in there. God works on many levels at once.
Great insights. Profoundly deep. Loved it. TY 🫶
The Brother of Jared's vision of being before the Lord is temple orientation as well.
The tree and the fruit can represent two different but related things, like the Devine feminine and the Son.
Just subscribed and love love love the deeper discussions...I am a FamilySearch Missionary leader in the UK. Keep up the good work.
Welcome aboard!
Amazing insights. I wish I could have a private discussion with you two and ask a bunch of questions!
Why do so many LDS teachers act like that brother of Jared experience isn't possible? Moroni wrote it right there. . I heard it again today. No wonder miracles cease because of unbelief.
The whole earth and everything on it is a greater miracle than a few rocks. People take the miracles all around them for granted.
This was amazing, thank you for sharing!
All my love your way!
🙏
Thank you.
Do what’s good for you.
Wonderful video, the big picture that can easily be lost in the individual stories of Mormon scripture.
Great discussion, but it would really help if you had some illustrations of the principles you are discussing.
That would definitely help me keep up
I have a question to any expert out there.
Also since it states in 2 Ne 9:34 Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell
If she never states the truth and continues portray herself as a victim instead of the perpetrator will she be REDEEMED.
God Bless.
Can you guys share the meaning of the 5 components associated with each of the five covenants? That would take us a long way. Thanks
Components?
Love this discussion so much!!
At the 34 minute mark the second anointing by a woman is mentioned. What are good resources to learn more about that?
Very little. The wife washes the husbands feet. Could be a shadow of the ancient matriarchal selection process of picking and selecting kings. Also related to coronation rights. Check out Bruce Porter for more information.
2:08 Actually in the latest changes Satan doesn’t say she won’t die. That was excised. In fact I now find it hard to see how he’s deceiving her. Everything he says now is correct.
Hey Jerry, thanks for the comment.
Sure, but the changes in the temple drama today do not change the scriptures.
Genesis 3:3-4
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.
Moses 4:9-11
9 But of the fruit of the tree which thou beholdest in the midst of the garden, God hath said-Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
10 And the serpent said unto the woman: Ye shall not surely die;
11 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Great Show !
Thanks for the discussion
You’re welcome
Thank you for this.
Love this, thanks
THIS is what we all need more of! THANK YOU!!!!
Have to allow each person to have their journey.
Thank you!! I love your channel.
In Revelation 22:14 it states;
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Wonderful!!!
@@CwicShow I’ll read it. Thanks again.
@@CwicShowCan you expand on what you mean that the creation is a parallel to the priesthood?
Since the fall of Adam and Eve from innocence into the cloudiness of mortality, at this time, our veiled minds cannot perceive the fullness of it's glory. But our eyes have been opened sufficiently and engrained in our two DNA's... is the ability to learn through the fog the truth of it all because of the partaking from the Tree of Knowledge. Given the choice of choosing good over evil... our Creator(s) loudly hint..... "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"
In my understanding, translating to... now that we have the ability to know better... will each of us pursue celestial glory?
That's my story and I'm stick'in to it. LOL
Thanks for this video Greg and Todd. I'm enjoying it immensely. :>)
I’ve never heard this level of commentary on endowment before. Wondering if it’s all quite appropriate. Maybe so, but I know this much discussion outside the temple itself, was not common when I received my endowment, or for many many years following.
There are very few things in the temple that are actually “secret”. However everything is sacred.
