    Thanks for sharing! My lack-of-snow depression is starting to wane but it's been a tough "winter" nonetheless.

      Man that's the truth. Unfortunately, my no-snow depression is not letting up at all....and we had an entire week of actual winter here in west Wisconsin. Still no relief.

    I had a '73 Rupp Magnum 440. Mint. Took it to shows. Never beaten by anyone on the snow back then..no not even the El Tigre'...they were nothing to beat.

      You needed to come up against a 1973 EXT 440, that’s more in your class of machine. First generation Tiggers were a little underwhelming.

    The air-box/intake system that Polaris put on the '76 Starfire's is amazing. Used the '76 Starfire skis, leaf springs, supports, and spreaders on a '77 TXL when we raced speed ovals. Sadly they disappeared over the years.
    The Rupp 3rd Dimension was cool to see. Agree about the Magnums and Nitros.

    I just subscribed today and I live in Central Wisconsin. I've owned several now vintage Pilaris snowmobiles. I sold most of them but still own a 1987 polaris indy 400 I'm selling. I really enjoy the channel especially the frequent beer toasts!

    I wanted one of those 340 Starfire TX's so bad as a first sled. Dad decided it was just too much sled for a 15 year old so I opted for an Arctic Cat Jag 2000 instead.

    Wanted to clarify on the 1997 700 RMK/SKS models. This info in directly from the 1997 brochure. It came stock from the factory with a 15 x 136 x 1'' lug on the SKS and 15 x 136 x 1.5'' lug on the RMK. A change from the 133.5'' of past years. . This was the first year for the 700 USA built twin. The cylinders also had different porting and made a few more hp than the 98s, and onward (Non-VES). In 1998 stock drag racers would swap their 1998 XC 700 cylinders with 1997s (legal under ISR rules). Interestingly, the RMK is listed as 496lbs, but the SKS comes in at 514lbs. The RMKs ski stance is 38'' with 8.25'' of front suspension, new composite skis, 10.9'' rear suspension, non-cooled brakes, and the torsion bar was optional, while the SKS is 41'' stance with 9.5'' of front suspension, steel skis, 8.3'' rear suspension, liquid cooled brakes and came standard with a torsion bar.

    Good day from Canada. I’ve enjoyed your videos ever since I got my first sled 5 years ago (1994 Polaris XLT SKS 580) I’ve learned a lot so thank you. Im also writing to ask your opinion. My sled has developed a mid to top end bog. I was told that this is not good and can blow my engine. Do you have any suggestions where I can start my search for this bog. Also as a side note I have had a bottom end bog since I’ve owned the sled. I rebuilt the top end last year and had no issues other than the bottom end bog. If you have any videos about top end bogs please send me a link to it I’ve watched tons of your videos but I have not seen anything about top end bogs. Thank you for your time

      Search my channel for "XLT Bog". We have covered this a few different ways. Top end bog, yep, covered. Lonnie's sled had that and the clutch was junk.

    I’ve got that doorstop black clutch on my 71 Charger 294 that I’m restoring. Will a newer Polaris aluminum clutch fit the taper?

    • @nuttersspeedshop
      @nuttersspeedshop  7 месяцев назад

      I am not an expert on 1971 Charger 294s, but I'm pretty sure that will be a Fuji twin. If it is there are options. A newer closed face clutch would be a big improvement, if you could find one that wasn't worn out. Wahl Brothers racing sells brand new deep bore clutches for the early Fuji motors. You could look for a later Polaris 32mm taper clutch from a 2010 or newer 600 motor.

    • @gedertr

      @@nuttersspeedshop thanks! It is a Fuji twin. Appreciate the knowledge shared!

    Nutter hey pal huge fan in need of some Indy help do you have any knowledge on 400 indy liquids starts cold developing a big and fire on one cylinder after 10 minutes under load any ideas …. ? Thanks pal appreciate any incite cheers boys … definitely thought I was just going to clean the carbs cheers brother

    • @nuttersspeedshop
      @nuttersspeedshop  7 месяцев назад

      There's so many things that could be. Probably not the ignition since it fires both plugs at once, but those plastic caps on the spark plugs go bad once in a while, could create a weak spark. Switch your plug wires to the opposite cylinders if they reach and see if the dead cylinder switches holes. I had an El Tigre 6000 that did this and it turned out to be the crank seals got soft when it got warm. Otherwise dig into your carbs. I'd do crank seals as a preventative if you don't know history on the sled.
