@traffic.engineer Do me a favor and stop driving. Changing lanes in an intersection can be dangerous because other vehicles are often entering and exiting the intersection. Other drivers may not expect a lane change and might think it's safe to turn or go straight. Changing lanes could temporarily block their path.
@@00GrnGT You obviously missed the first lesson in driver's ed. Drivers on the sidestreet must yield to ALL vehicles in the road, not just the intended lane of travel. Drivers on the road with the green (or no stop sign) have full right-of-way to use any lane on the road, which includes changing lanes for traffic ahead. There is no prohibition on changing lanes just because there are series of commercial driveways. The driver on the driveway is 100% liable if hitting a vehicle that changed lanes on the main road. The same applies at signalized intersections because all other traffic has a red light. The only dangers the cammer has are drivers violating his right-of-way. As nearly practicable to the left lane does not require being in the left lane after the turn. This is to specifically allow trucks and other longer vehicles to use both lanes to enter the intersection. Additionally, there is no law thay restricts vehicles from changing lanes within the interesection. Truck pulling the camper was well within its right to use both lanes to safely and practically maneuver into that direction of the highway, and the cammer was fully required to yield to it.

Regardless of their motive if the cammer wasn't speeding, driving distracted, and recklessly he/she could have slowed down in time and avoided hitting both vehicles.
#24 7:43 He had a green left turn light, and you had a yield sign. Would it have been better for him to stay in the left lane and let you in? Yes, but I don't think that you would have been found "not at fault".
I don't know about the law in the USA, but on this side of the world, the driver going straight would only have been expected to yield to traffic which was crossing or turning into the same lane. That would put the turning driver 100% at fault for failing to stay in the designated lane for the turn. Could even add at least a charge of reckless driving to that.
@@melkiorwiseman5234does not apply to large trucks, as they would need both lanes at their disposal to safely make the manuever. BC and other provinces, and all states have that as law.

Bro calls dude a dumbass then changes lanes in the middle of an intersection 😂
So what? It is not illegal in Florida. Nor any other US state for that matter.
Maybe a good idea to drive defensively, but at no fault of the cammer.
@@traffic.engineer nooo shiiiiit you don't say?..😀 And since when did I blame the cammer for anything other than expecting others to pay attention when he arbitrarily decides to change lanes in the middle of an intersection?

These drivers need a serious reality check!
7:45 Cammer is the problem here. He grumbles because right-turning drivers in front of him yield to left-turning traffic as required by the yield sign, then cusses out a driver who dared turn left in front of him. Even if the truck drifted into the right lane, smart driving would indicate that possibility (and why the guys in front of him yielded rather than put themselves at risk). So it cost an extra second or two. "You have to drive defensively." Yes, you do. You should try it sometime.
8:15 Please understand in some places what the camper did was perfectly legal. If there's only one left turn lane, the driver can pick any of the lanes to turn into. The cammer is an inpatient ass.

Cammer is 100% right! When turning right or left "a vehicle is required to take the first available lane". #24 - Cammer, you're in the wrong. You have a yield and failed to do so. It's inconsequential what the traffic was doing on the main part of the road.
When I was learning to drive, we were taught to rotate your torso and use your full range of vision when backing up. Mirrors cannot be relied on to provide a complete picture of what is happening behind you. Even now, with a backup camera in my Subaru, I still do this. At 74, it’s not as easy as it once was, but I do it!
It's perplexing why drivers decelerate in every lane when there are vehicles parked on the roadside.
There's a highway I use almost daily that's 7 lanes wide. The right lane exit backs up, so all 7 lanes end up going about 30MPH. Drives me *batty*.

WTH are Truckers doing in their cabs that they can not pay attention to traffic right in front of them? Seen to many wrecks with Semi's from failure to pay attention.
7:45 - Ok, I know this is going to come as a big shock to some, but the cammer actually did nothing wrong here. In B.C. it is required by law for vehicles to turn into the closest lane. In this case, people turning right are fully allowed to turn into the right lane, while the other other vehicles turning left, must turn into the left lane. The yield is actually for cars coming down the road that are already in the right lane, not the people turning left. The truck pulling the trailer was the one who made the illegal turn. I realize a lot of places say people turning can turn into either lane, so it can be confusing to some, but that's not true in this case. We run into the exact same issue where I live. We have the same law requirement as B.C. (turn into the closes lane, and illegal to turn into an adjacent lane), and people from Texas and California are frequently causing accidents by turning into a far lane, hitting someone also making a turn, then getting mad when they get cited, fined and found at fault. Not all places have the same traffic laws.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACT
[RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 318
Turning at intersections
"...and after entering the intersection turn the vehicle to the left so as to leave the intersection as nearly as practicable in the left hand lane available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of the vehicle on the highway being entered."
8:20 A classic clusterfuck. Highway 204 off the Hewitt Ave. Trestle (Hwy 2) and the immediate left at Sunnyside Blvd. To make that left turn coming off the trestle, you have to go across two lanes of traffic almost blind (you can't see the traffic on 204 all that well because you're coming off an elevated ramp). And there is almost always a long line to get on to Sunnyside. If you miss the turn, it adds a couple miles to your trip.
