For my small business the 12 volt gets just about 90% of my work done. I had the Dewalt 12v and loved it. It was stolen out of my truck. I had to replace it and tried the M12. It runs great but I can’t get used to the position of the belt clip, I have to make sure it’s in right before letting it hang. Also I hate the stubby batteries and hate how damn stuff it is to chang me out the batteries. I will be getting rid of my M12 fuel and getting these new M18 compact. I believe the have one with the mode selector. I do love the Tri lights.
Been using mine at work daily for about 6 months. By far my favorite impact so far (I have 7 lol). Here’s my take, this isn’t for everyone. Builders/construction are gonna want the Gen 4 Fuel, it’s just gonna drive 3” screws, tapcons, and lags way faster and smoother. Auto techs? They’re gonna want M12 Fuel since the smaller battery is gonna allow them to get the tool into tighter engine bays without rigging up crazy contraptions with extensions/attachments. But anyone in the middle? Homeowners, DIY, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, I would highly recommend it. Good mid-range power, excellent balance and ergonomics with the included 2.0 battery, buttery trigger feel makes it an extension of your arm and the tapered head allows you to get in closer to corners without having to run an extension to get the tool away from the material your working on. Its lightweight so if your mobile it’s gonna cut down on your tool bag weight (my bag has gotta be 40lbs so I’m thankful for any weight savings) but offers a nice little bump in power over M12 with the option of just running a bigger battery if you need more power, this thing with a 6.0 Forge is gonna blow anything M12 out of the water. I don’t personally need the power often but it’s nice to have that option. The downsides: anything larger than the included 2.0 battery and the tool becomes real bottom heavy, the tapered head means you give up on ring lighting, no modes (not a problem if your nice with it), no quick release collet(again not a problem if your nice with it😉).
I just bought the 5 tool kit that comes with this impact driver for $299. I didn’t want to go into the M12 because I felt like I would want to upgrade later but still wanna keep the batteries. Also I’m not a construction worker so I’ll only use it at home. I don’t know much about impacts and now I’m down the rabbit hole of tools comparison
Kaleb, spot on review. This ‘tiny’ impact is a BEAST! I am really surprised at the power from both this impact, and the compact dill/ driver! Great combo! Now I’m off to view your video on the “Legendary” drill bits from Harbor Freight! 👍💪✌
essentially the same tool. 3651-20 just has a switch that allows you to lower the max RPM and IPM. (1. 0-1,250 rpm, 0-2,500 ipm 2. 0-2,400 rpm, 0-4,700 ipm 3. 0-3,600 rpm, 0-4,900 ipm) 3650-20 is technically like having the 3 speed version, just stuck in speed 3, with no switch to change it.
@@mr_killjoy4205Are you sure the only difference between the 3650 and 3651 is the switch that lowers the RPM/IPM? If so, can you replicate the 3651 with the 3650 by just being more gentle with the trigger? I can get a bigger deal on the 3650 than the 3651. Also, can the 3650/3651 be a replacement for a drill/driver if just driving ordinary screws around the house?
Just got done watching Aussie youtuber pit the new dewalt 860 vs the milwaukee gen 4 impact which admittedly is the strongest right now with the flex quick eject. The 860 came out on top. Hopefully they price it very competitively when it comes out here later on in the year. As for compact drivers I have a metabo hpt one that is even smaller than the m12. It performs realy well specially since i got it for $25 (part of $100 4 tool combo clearance).
Hell yeah I have that one and I have the compact drill too good enough for what I generally use it for anything else and I’m beating on the company’s tools instead 😂
Nice review. The tool seems to work great and at $99 with a battery and charger it's hard to beat. My only gripe with Milwaukee in general is heat dissipation over extended work periods since they aim for performance in a small footprint. So if you already have Milwaukee tools this is the way to go. If you're just getting started on cordless tools I think the Hercules Brushless impact driver (also $99 with a battery and charger) is the more capable tool while also working cooler than the Milwaukee
It is, but strangely I have found the quality to be better with the “Made in China” models, VS from Mexico. I tried out the new compact drill, and it is very impressive, but the motor sounded funny, and I sent it back. It said “Made in Mexico.” Got the Combo deal with drill and impact and TWO batteries, for 189.00, and they are made in china, and work fine. The motors do tend to have a ‘scream’ sound to them? I don’t know how that will work out in a confined space? Peace
Nice demo 👍 If a person didn't have any 12v tools or batteries, but had the 18v then I could see going with that, otherwise the 12v driver would be better weight wise. Plus the battery being almost as large as the tool kinda bugs me. 😂
Yeah, there will always be a compromise. It is funny how the M12 tools are usually a bit longer, front to back, than some of the M18 tools? The weight savings and size of battery make up for it. But the M12 tools are not for everybody, due to the ‘bulge’ the battery area makes in the handle.

I used to build cabinets all day great tool love itt

Very good points made, pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Lmao, thank you for watching!
If you already have the Milwaukee battery platform and charger by all means it's a hell of a buy 💥💥💥
Wait until you get the 3 speed version. 3651-20.
That’s the one I wish I’d gotten

The new 860 looks like it will be a force to be reckoned with! Companies will have to come out with even stronger adapters! 😆
I like Metabo hpt drivers as well. Hopefully the 860 doesn’t have many issues so it can be competitive again.

That thing is a beast💯 cant wait to see how the new dcf860 performs 🤔
Tools and stuff just did a comparison with 4th gen milwaukee
If you have smaller hands, the 18v is more ergonomic. The 12v is kind of fat in the grip with sorta weird ergonomics.
This is true
It's a good deal if the battery is included else I'd also be going for the M12.
IT IS Included Hash, did You not see the box he was holding? Come on Man! It will be alright! 😆✌
Check out torque test new video on m18 impact failure rate. Eye opening.
Definitely lol, I have a video coming out on exactly that haha

Yea it kinda defeats the purpose with the batteries being so much larger. Thank you

The Kobalt XTR peak torque is 2400 in-lbs and cost less than this, with 4 modes
I’ve never seen the Kobalt xtr for less than $99 and it is much larger than this.
yeah but it's a Lowes tool 😅 good try though.
