when we get repairs done the labor bills are a lot, but when we see you doing the repair we understand the complexity of some repairs, no complaint on the labor cost!
Everytime I think I should come out of retirement and get a job turning wrenches, I then see you humping a big turbo! My back says "no way OLD MAN what are you thinking"!!!
I love your Positive Disposition and Humor, You are a Gentle Giant. This world needs more people like you. But I am sure if pushed the Giant could wreck someones day... Keep the Vids coming!
Great Video Zeth👍 I just put a long black in a 9560RT from reman. I ordered new Turbos and Yes back ordered. No promise ship date yet. Your lucky you Got one. Keep up the work. Hello from Thomason Tractor Firebaugh ca
Been watching you for a year now, all the way from Norway! I may not be a JD fan = doesnt mean i hate it, i just dont own one and grew up with the devils color ^^ I must say I do love your videos, how detailed but simple, even used your tips and tricks when my frontcover bolts just randomly unseased themselves! made a fine line of black stripes along the road! ^^ So from Norway, I say keep on making these vids! Fix those green irons! and keep doing what you do best! Entertain us! :D Also im about your physical size too, the struggle in the tight spots are for real and do exist!
When I was started farming 60 years ago exhaust bolts had brass nuts on them about an inch long never broke a bolt but then tractors rarely gave trouble😂
another great video explaining what you're doing with awesome supporting camera angles. thanks for posting it along with the plug for career opportunities with Sloan.
@@ZKMasterTech it would be interesting based on your push for career opportunities with Sloan is to discuss how you stay current on updates/new machinery? Is that additional service training through Sloan or John Deere?
I’m an on highway truck mechanic, I’ve always wanted to work on heavy equipment. Not really agricultural equipment but none the less I enjoy watching some of the crazy stuff you guys do
High temp JB weld or high temp loctite.... used some high temp loctite on an exhaust bolt that stripped out on a Polaris atv, didn't feel like pulling the engine out. Drenched it with stuff and let it cure. Still seems to be doing the trick for now until it doesn't.
That leaky rivet buried in the back of beyond is yet another highlight for Mr J Deere's Q&A department! I'm pretty sure that your safety guys would have palpitations the way you went for a little mountaineering up the tyre while carrying that turbo beast - but as another favourite American RUclipsr would say "What the Heck!" you looked damned good doing it! And again, admirable restraint on the cussing front when all those little gremlins grabbed a hold when you were seating - that thang! I'm South Eastern England and it's been awful dry this season - harvest getting earlier every year and can report that a local guy had a Claas combine in the field yesterday on barley - hopefully he'll have some grain to show for the effort.
I also enjoyed beeing out on the field at my time as an John Deere tecnician in Sweden! We had a lot of VGT problems on the earlier 30 series. One of the bolts connecting turbo to exhaustmanifold is a killer to get loose.
Must be nice to get out from the workshop zeth from time to time Changing that turbo is not an easy job to do . But that oil leak is going to be even worse .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi zeth. There's a DTAC on those leaking rivets drill out the rivet and tap the hole and plug it. I'm on holiday can't remember the case number look up 6150r oil leak in search.
Hey there Zeth, I hope this finds you well? 🙏 Those big VGT turbos are heavy, and awkward to handle, but you made it look easy. 👌 Just wait until you get a hold of the one thats on the new 18L 9RX 690 thats coming to a town near you! 😮 I hope you have a good one! 👍 "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌 👍 🇺🇲 😮
That looks like a very similar setup to the 9.0L John Deere turbo. I hate that coolant supply on the bottom of the turbo. The back bolt never want to come out or go back in nicely. Also the mounting bolts that never want to come out
I appreciate your videos and recognize the work that goes into what you do. One thing I've noticed is this equipment appears too new/clean for the repairs that are needed. Is there an MTBF number that JD publishes? I would think a lot of this work is covered under warranty, but definitely gives me pause for considering a green machine for light/rancher use.
After all of these years, I am curious why some companies still use both Standard and Metric sized fasteners. It means that the techs have to buy almost twice as many tools and it's a constant guessing games as to whether it's a 5/16 or 8 mm, 13mm or 1/2 inch, 5/8 or 16mm, 11mm or 7/16 and on and on. I sure wish John Deere and GM would just use metric all through out their machines, but I was just a tech, I guess the people that have a higher pay grade than me have a reason, but I have yet to hear that reason.
@@MrRoundb Sure don't but I do work on heavy equipment, including the scraper special version of that tractor. Hot shut-downs is such a problem that the machinery that's push button start warns you to allow the engine to cool down to prevent such failures. Do you own one of those tractors?
I don’t, I would have thought by now that all operators would be aware that shutting down a hot turbocharged engine is a no no. My dads 1974 4430 had a cooldown instruction decal
“Whatever gorilla tightened that! It was me” I was so hoping you would come out with that line…

Milwaukee fan for the win!

I would be interested in seeing a video of outtakes with Zeth screaming curse words. It must happen while doing mechanic work
You know it!
I have invented new words working on some of this crap.
Really really good channel man hope you plan on making more videos noticed most recent was still 10 months ago

Wonder if that turbo is a heavy as the water pump on my 1994 310D backhoe. I was a beast to change out. And expensive.
Those big green machines are impressive, but the price of them are impressive too. How can most farmers afford them?
Lease to own or loans.
That turbo was just waiting for a chance to grenade the whole engine 👀
I don’t know who is more beautiful….your bride or the lady in green?
UHM…..Your wife!😀
You have a beautiful family.
I'll take turbo day then clutch day all day long
Thank You
Masking tape will hold wires and light stuff out of your way when you are fighting that heavy stuff.
That tractor has a lot of issues to not be very old. Does it have a lot of hours?
Great video Zeth and I felt your pain lifting the turbo up into place. Whats the expected life span of a turbo on 9510R?
It depends. I don't have to replace a bunch of them which is a good thing because you can't get them.
Love how a $2.00 failed part causes a $1000 repair bill. Similar to a $0.50 light bulb contributing to the crash of multimillion $ jet.
You da man, man!
❤❤❤ good videos
Does the 8R410 drive and ride good on the road. Is it a new one or used.
They drive like a dream on the road. It is used.
Oops my bad 2500 hours isn't a lot to need a new turbo.
How's the fan!!!!!
Zeth,is it true deere has a new 18leater eng?
Yes
@@ZKMasterTech man that's a hos,you think that they will make it with tires.

2500 hours and both turbos replaced… kinda sad.

Do you vacuum fill all coolant systems with egr cooler?
No not this system. It does a good job bleeding the air out of the system through the coolant tank.
Does John Deere rebuild those turbos?
Yes
Whenever I watch your videos you never show or have the customer hanging around or trying to help does that happen very often?
Sometimes but not usually
stick with that type of music you played for x9000 section
how did you know the drive was bad?
It didn’t turn anymore 😮
Well least not compound turbos
ill tell you wut lol
deere quality haa
2500 hours on a turbo(terrible)
There's a turbo cool-down procedure posted in the cab. If the operator doesn't allow the engine to cool after running it the turbo pays the price.
Do you have one of these tractors?

Stop wearing anything that resembles the American flag...
Why?
You can stop, as for me and my house, we won't stop, and we consider it an honor to do so! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
