There are NO supreme quality videos having great success, except BBC production ( and with a lot if marketing investment). Neither Master like Ben Brown nor Yuri Palma go close to 1M...
I did not use one but I wish I did for more cinematic motion. I had to crank up the shutter speed to get the exposure right. Also, if you have money to spare, get a lens hood to avoid light flickering from the propellers. These flickers are most frequent when the sun is slightly off the frame. You can catch a glimpse of this annoying phenomenon around 3:37. It ruined so many shots for me :(
Thats one really sweet vid makes me home sick. Did you ever have any problems been aloud to fly your drone? only ask as I'd like to bring mine over next time.
Hey Man! Amazing footage! I will be going in New Zealand this Month... just want to clear if flying drones is allowed as long as you stick to 120M altitude?
Thanks! Unfortunately, NZ rules go a bit beyond just the 120M altitude limit. E.g: You need to be weary of controlled airspaces and protected national parks. If you will be flying over people, you have to get their consent. If you will be flying over a private property, you need to get owner's permission first, etc. All of this is covered in Part 101 of the rule book that you can checkout here: www.caa.govt.nz/assets/legacy/rules/Rule_Consolidations/Part_101_Consolidation.pdf Here is a link to a useful website for NZ drone operators with aerodome maps as well: www.airshare.co.nz/ P.S: the rules keep changing so make sure you visit www.caa.govt.nz/rpas/ to check if rules have changed before taking off. Enjoy NZ and safe flying!
Lovely video! Though the color grading got a little out of hand I think, some shots are absolutely amazing but others there is that blue that is almost popping ^^ Looks like the m83 osiris lut, and I use to lower saturation and counter the lut with som red to make it look more natural :) just a tip
Hey Felix, thanks for the thoughtful feedback. I agree with you on some of the colours getting out of hand. I spent a bit more time on every shot in the beginning but quickly found myself copy pasting the same LUT over to the rest of the footage ... I'm super lazy ;) It was the M31 ... it amplifies the blues and shifts green towards orange and therefore produces this very exaggerated autumn look. My personal favourite bit is from outskirts of Arrowtown (the part where the powerboat goes under the bridge). The lighting was great on that day .... Still lots to learn!
Yeah agree, and the coastline from 1.15-1-40 looks awesome aswell, very good graded if you ask me :) I'm also going to New Zealand in 4th of january and just bought the Mavic Pro so I'm super excited! Especially when i saw your viedo!
I wish I had the Mavic when I went. Taking the clunky phantom kit everywhere got in my way of enjoying the scenery. NZ is the kind of a place that will stay with you forever. Take as many drone batteries as you can carry/afford. Get a car charger if you can too. You will feel like shooting all the time because every place looks unique/different as you explore both Islands. And don't miss Milford Sound ... that place is magical (no wonder they shot the new Prometheus movie there). Do checkout their drone laws before you take off: www.airshare.co.nz/rules Have a safe trip!
Absolutely stunning and loved it :) It makes me want to visit New Zealand. First, I thought it's a video sponsored by some tourism organization and if not they should pay you guy :)
congratulation very nice video! Can I ask you what did you use for change the color in the video? Have you used a ND filter or just some program after make? cheers
just curious how you got permission to fly in tekapo at the church on the lake and then at the hooker valley track near Mt. Cook from DOC? I would love to fly there but have been denied in both places.
Daniel Thour Hi Daniel, sometimes it depends on the person in charge and his/her mood. I was also denied permission in some places where others I contacted via Vimeo were granted. Devinsupertramp was able to shoot in a lot of Queenstown locations which are normally a no no for us casual filmmakers. Some pilots also stress on making an impression on the person in charge by asking them "nicely" (not implying that you didn't). It's somewhat about luck and whom you run into :) somewhere down the track, I am thinking about getting a license so I don't have to worry about these things.
I was thinking great video while watching this, but yeah, just another foreign tourist who doesn't follow the rules and can get away with it because they don't live here. So it was nice to see this comment. It sounds like you are up to speed on the local rules, but there was a point where you crossed over a road wasn't there?
are there any places where i caNT use my drone?'' please answer!! im gonna go to nz this saturado and im not sure wether i should take my drone or not, please answer!!
Hi Farhan, if you are asking about New Zealand specifically, you will need to check with New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority website. The rules are described in detail here: www.caa.govt.nz/rpas/
What is the font that "New Zealand" is in? Also great video i have just been on a road trip around the north island check out my video, some drone shots in there but nothing like yours :)

I just ordered one but I don't know if I also have to order a ND filter, so my question is did you use one?
I did not use one but I wish I did for more cinematic motion. I had to crank up the shutter speed to get the exposure right.

I agree with all the comments but wonder why so few views in the last 6 years? I will share it around my contacts and see what happens.
Thats one really sweet vid makes me home sick. Did you ever have any problems been aloud to fly your drone? only ask as I'd like to bring mine over next time.

Shahab Qamar thanks for the reply!
Hi, Church of the Good Shepherd should be a no fly zone right? Did you apply permit to fly there?
Lovely video! Though the color grading got a little out of hand I think, some shots are absolutely amazing but others there is that blue that is almost popping ^^ Looks like the m83 osiris lut, and I use to lower saturation and counter the lut with som red to make it look more natural :) just a tip

+Wahib Ul Haq You should definitely visit NZ. Thanks for watching!
congratulation very nice video! Can I ask you what did you use for change the color in the video? Have you used a ND filter or just some program after make? cheers
Thanks! no ND filter used. Graded in Adobe Premiere CC 2015 with Lumetri and Visioncolor OSIRIS M31 LUT. More info in description.
Awesome video about NZ. But what is name of this song?
Thanks :) The song is: Empire of Angels by Thomas Bergersen
Nice work mate! Did u get for each council a permission?
Thanks!
I asked the respective property owners for permission. Drone laws keep changing so it's best to check the link in the description.

I have included a link to the website which states all the drone rules. Please check that out.
Great video but the colours were over- saturated. I live here so know what they look like.
Hey mate just wondering whether i can fly my drone
Hi Farhan, if you are asking about New Zealand specifically, you will need to check with New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority website. The rules are described in detail here: www.caa.govt.nz/rpas/
The real middle Earth, stunning
Where was the shot with the bridge/boat taken?
Arthurs Point ... its a location between Arrowtown & Queenstown.
Some shots are higher than 120m, which is outlawed by CAA.
Great footage anyways.
Not true. None of the shots are higher than 120m as I have set a limit on max altitude in the DJI GO app.
Shahab Qamar That was a snarky comment. I just think 120m is a bit too low. Nice shots and color grading, mate.
Thanks man!
Also where was the last shot taken?
All locations stated in the description of the video in order of first appearance.
bro can you name that font and animation style of your font in your intro? thanks man
The fonts are "Lavanderia Sturdy" and "Bebas". Not sure what you mean by the animation style ... its just a plain'old fade in :)
Shahab Qamar Final Cut Pro?
Adobe Premiere
What's the name of the song?
Empire of Angels by Thomas Bergersen
+Shahab Qamar thanks
What is the font that "New Zealand" is in? Also great video i have just been on a road trip around the north island check out my video, some drone shots in there but nothing like yours :)
Thanks for your kind comments! I checked your footage ... its pretty sweet :) The font is "Lavanderia Sturdy"

Not sure if it's New Zealand or Middle Earth.
LOL Both.
Shahab Kebab.
