What paints did you use? I am near completed with a Power Fist for Fallout 3, and will be posting on ebay soon. I just love the colors used, and would like to use them for some other future projects, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS!
It's great, one thing I would consider though is adding some kind of weather effect to the antenna because the rest of the helm is faded, but the antenna is very shiny. But once again, It's amazing, very creative.
Nicely done. I was looking for ideas because I'm building one from scratch, but I'm using my uncle's workshop and building a functional metal one, with your idea for flashlights but adding a laser, etc
Thanks man. Yeah, I'll definitively keep making stuff. I'm remaking this NCR helmet right now actually. I have a few videos of it up. Also, if Bethesda ever makes a Fallout 4, I'll be all over that; I love Fallout.
@TheAltec93 Thanks. I don't know how much cardboard I used. At least several Priority mail boxes most likely. And that's why it stayed together as I was making it. Priority mail boxes are thin and strong. As for a blueprint, I didn't use one but I believe there is a pepakura file out there somewhere. Try The Wasteland Outpost. They are working on getting the new forums up but when they do it might be there.
I was really impressed with what you've made just using cardboard! A tip for other helmet builds is getting the plastic liner from the old M1 steel helmet. They were used by most NATO ground forces up until the mid 1980s so every surplus shop have them. It's a plastic "inner" helmet complete with padding. It's easy to work with and fits much better than, say, the Vader helmet! ;o) You find them on the net for about 20.00$.
Thanks for making the video im trying to make my ncr ranger helmet and needed to know what I should do this was perfact for showing me how to go about putting it together.
Really looks pretty amazing. Thinking about building a full suit out of pickle barrel plastic. (55 gallon water barrel) Might even buy a surplus gasmask too and build it in.
Good idea, I get the red eyes effect using cristal with mirrors paint, two red lamp leds, a 9v battery and a push button on the right side of the helmet.
Excellent work! Looks great. Just a suggestion: perhaps build some greeble/module to house the base of the aerial. It looks a little bit weird just sitting there like that. Otherwise, this helmet looks great.
I did after I posted this, sorry didn't see it. Anyways you're very good at this dude. Good to see someone put some real effort into what they do nowadays
Yeah, I'd say a week or so to make one of these helmets. It really depends on how fast you work, how much experience you have, and how perfect you want it. As for the body armor I can only guess because I still haven't finished it. Probably about a bit less than the helmet. The supplies you need depend on what you have lying around the house, what you can forgo, etc. Just watch all my tutorials and you should have a list of what you need.
@DirtySanchez728 No. I don't recommend using these type of helmets for airsoft because they could crack or shatter and the eye lenses are not strong enough to withstand airsoft or paintball bullets.
@sotik It takes a while to make one of these but there are different ways to make them. I used cardboard and the whole resin, fiberglass, and bondo processes on this one but if I did it again I would sculpt most of it from clay and then mold it. Using cardboard is cheaper though.
Hey bud. You are extremely talented. You're going to be a RICH man if you make your career be your art, that is no lie. AMAZING craftsmanship. Great eye. Purely AWESOME. ☼
another work of art... dude good job! I so need that!!! if you sell those it will be the second helmet I buy from you! (I got a dawngaurd helmet) keep up the good work :D
Thanks, it probably took me a couple of weeks roughly to build and I have no idea how much I spent. Not a whole lot probably because I had most of the materials already.
Freaking sweet helmet bro!!! You should be very proud of this project. I especially liked the 8/20 to represent your birthday. Thats actually my birthday too!!!! You should save this to share with one of your kids one day so they can appreciate what it take to use your imagination.
Watch my tutorial on spot putty for information on that. And I use spray paint for my helmets. Typically Krylon or Rustoleum brands but it doesn't really matter.
I really really like that you made it using epoxy resin and bondo. Nothing particularly wrong with the eva foam builds but myself i far prefer some more robust and rigid and durable like what you've built here. Only real upgrade you could have done for maximum durability would have been to use fiberglass cloth and resin over top the cardboard but I tip my hat to you sir, absolutely amazing build. Good job. I wonder do you intend to use a similar construction for building the vest? That would be very awesome to see done.
Not this specific helmet, but I do sell some stuff on etsy. I have an ODST helmet for sale right now and I will have some Advanced Riot Gear Helmets up for sale soon hopefully.
@MrCarkeys42 Yeah, but that's the reason myself and I assume other people get into cosplay in the first place. We see awesome armor and weapons and want to make them and show them off. That's what cosplay is in my opinion.
I really need more friends like you man I have little but they just play games all day and I like to work on things but prob wouldn't be as nearly as cool as yours
I don't know if you do or not, but I know plenty of people who'd buy this sort of thing (myself included) if you made and sold stuff like this, cause that helmet is just awesome
you remember that episode of top gear that they had to paint the cars over that plastic stuff they put in the dents that is bondo or bodyfiller @MultiMediaManny
nice man really nice im making a gray fox helmet fro mgs unfortunaly its not gunna be as detailed but this inspires me as to how good it can get and even though ur pain did chip it looks like part of the waethering great job ill probly try one of these at a later date
I like the customization, but the 7 was for luck being the most likely total of a 2 d6 roll, and the 42 was for the answer to life the universe and everything.
Amazing.. Even the in-game helmet lights don't actually light up!
Damn, kid. You have a crazy good eye for detail. Very well done. You're very talented.
dude could you post the measurements that you used for the cardboard
I still can't get over the fact that this was made out of cardboard. Absolutely amazing work.
OdahKing
It's his item, if he wants to throw it in an incinerator or be a bit careless with it that's his decision.
Always thought the riot armor, the elite armor in particular, was so badass I find myself not even bothering with power armor anymore in New Vegas.
Thank you so much! I build one too and you inspired me! Thaaaaaaaaaanks!
i'm halfway done with mine
great job man, words cant explain how great this is.looks so good and realistic
What paints did you use? I am near completed with a Power Fist for Fallout 3, and will be posting on ebay soon. I just love the colors used, and would like to use them for some other future projects, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS!
Dude that looks awesome. I never thought of just using resin over cardboard. Genius.
Badass.
Excellent job man! Especially on a budget. I'm a newbie to the cosplay craft scene, but you've inspired me man! Thanks.
is it me or does this helmet look like a stormtrooper?
You can get resin, fiberglass, bondo, etc. at most hardware stores and usually Walmart has them as well.
i would buy it for 800 $ If it was like metal or kevlar...
A standard helmet made of kevlar is around $800 let alone a full faced one.
Not The Soap K Well i have 1500 saved up. i want a metal helmet that looks just like this
SmokedBlades If it was aluminum it would be around $500 I'm guessing but it wouldn't stop any bullets.
Not The Soap i dont fucking care lol i just wanna wear it xD
SmokedBlades Exactly it would stop bullets just from badassary. LOL
Incredible job. Even if the paint did come off in spots, it actually adds more to the combat appearance.
play paintball with this helmet
this is seriously inspiring! thanks for the upload and great job on the weathering kid
It's great, one thing I would consider though is adding some kind of weather effect to the antenna because the rest of the helm is faded, but the antenna is very shiny. But once again, It's amazing, very creative.
Nicely done. I was looking for ideas because I'm building one from scratch, but I'm using my uncle's workshop and building a functional metal one, with your idea for flashlights but adding a laser, etc
whoa, a fan who makes things like this out of cardboard, and it looks as good as real hollywood props, nice one!
@DaddyPims I just use regular polyester fiberglass resin. You can get it from most hardware stores and walmart.
peeled up paint is the best thing to happen to an ncr helmet ;) awesome job keep up the good work!!!
Thanks man. Yeah, I'll definitively keep making stuff. I'm remaking this NCR helmet right now actually. I have a few videos of it up. Also, if Bethesda ever makes a Fallout 4, I'll be all over that; I love Fallout.
pretty damn outstanding kid...you should be proud of the skills...most people couldnt even attempt this in a dream.
Excellent. I see you with a bright future in movie props.
Thanks for making the video im trying to make my ncr ranger helmet and needed to know what I should do this was perfact for showing me how to go about putting it together.
Really looks pretty amazing. Thinking about building a full suit out of pickle barrel plastic. (55 gallon water barrel) Might even buy a surplus gasmask too and build it in.
can we appreciate the fact it's been 9 years (almost 10) and this guy is still replying to comments?
I love your creativity with the materials.
Wow, you did an excellant job on the helmet! It's so cool!
Otherwise, this helmet looks great.
dude this is just amazing you could make a carer out of this great job man
Thanks man I'll try both and tell you how it turns out.
I used some old Priority Mail boxes that I found by the side of the road. Any thin strong cardboard will do.
You are a very talented and gifted person. I hope you carry on your work and be very succesful.
I did after I posted this, sorry didn't see it. Anyways you're very good at this dude. Good to see someone put some real effort into what they do nowadays
Freaking amazing job, i cannot wait to see your next helmet bro. Keep it up
Hats off to you dude. That is awesome work!
A LOT OF TIME INVOLVED , GREAT WORK!!
Yeah, I'd say a week or so to make one of these helmets. It really depends on how fast you work, how much experience you have, and how perfect you want it. if i could do this, i would never stop making fallout items... this is amazing!
Dude, this is professional grade stuff right here...and you did it with cardboard.
You should make a video on how it came together and how to fold the stuff and I must say excellent work excellent work
You have a lot of talent! It looks fantastic
This is so badass. maybe you should make a pip-boy, that would be awesome. Good job!!
You've got some skill man this really cool
This is really cool man, keep up the good work
I am actually working on fallout costumes. I have finished the trench coat for the veteran armour and this made my job alot easier.
Dude for one I am amazed that this is cardboard and also we share the same birthday great vid man!
this is one of the best things I've seen in my life no joke
@littlebigalex I used Bondo brand fiberglass resin.
That's really awesome. Nice work man.
Nice one m8 very nicely made and a good eye for detail.
@DirtySanchez728 No. I don't recommend using these type of helmets for airsoft because they could crack or shatter and the eye lenses are not strong enough to withstand airsoft or paintball bullets.

Thanks man. I appreciate the support.

I think some of the paint scuffs and stuff go well with the theme
You have some serious talent in making these helmets man. You need to get into prop work!
Man youre great at making this stuff keep it up I know i would buy one of those helmets
Freaking sweet helmet bro!!! You should be very proud of this project. I especially liked the 8/20 to represent your birthday. Thats actually my birthday too!!!! You should save this to share with one of your kids one day so they can appreciate what it take to use your imagination.
Good Job... Most people don't have the patience for a Paper-Resin Build!!!
AMAZING BRO. Great work. I should hire you for my short films
@YoshiYamiYori Thanks. I might do one of the variants sometime in the future and might sell some of those casts.
Man, this is legit. I could really use you as a prop master.
Watch my tutorial on spot putty for information on that. And I use spray paint for my helmets. Typically Krylon or Rustoleum brands but it doesn't really matter.
Even red eyes was my favourite part of it, still this is piece of artwork o.O nice man , nice :) 9/10

NICE!! Kinda makes me want to go and build something myself. :)
Very inspiring work.
Not this specific helmet, but I do sell some stuff on etsy. I have an ODST helmet for sale right now and I will have some Advanced Riot Gear Helmets up for sale soon hopefully.
@DECAFtodeath Fiberglass resin which I believe is polyester resin but I'm not completely sure.
For the mass effect armor, you should make the Terminus Armor. With all of the sharp angles on it, it shouldn't be too hard to make with cardboard.
Coolest.
Thing.
EVER.
I wish I was around when Fallout started, and had been a "long time Fallout Fan."
I'm trying to follow your process. I hope I can actually pull it off.
That is freaking cool. I would've put 21's on a helmet I made, but this is really cool.
WOW! I must say you did a great job... Really cool!!!
That helmet is BadASS! And I swear that that mask looks like its from the real game.
@MrCarkeys42 Yeah, but that's the reason myself and I assume other people get into cosplay in the first place. We see awesome armor and weapons and want to make them and show them off. That's what cosplay is in my opinion.
amazing... im trying to do it for this halloween... wish me luck xD
your video is so helpful thanks a lot!
Dany G me too :D
I really need more friends like you man I have little but they just play games all day and I like to work on things but prob wouldn't be as nearly as cool as yours
hats off to you man, this is incredible!
That's pretty damn good man, major kudos
Yeah I'd love to buy just the mask w/o the top/helmet, cause I want to use an old military surplus one I've got.
I want one that actually works. It looks awesome man.
I want to make one of the NCR variants sometime in the future. When I do, I'll sell some of the casts most likely.
No, I never finished the armor and I had some red LED wire around the eyes but it didn't really look good so I took it off.
@superaxe61 no that would be considered strength 8 or having the perk fear presence or something like that
Yeah, I sell a few things now and then on my etsy shop.
I may be re-making this helmet sometime and selling some of the casts there.
I don't know if you do or not, but I know plenty of people who'd buy this sort of thing (myself included) if you made and sold stuff like this, cause that helmet is just awesome
You should get a black antenna then distress it. Bent, and scratched, It would look pretty nice.
you remember that episode of top gear that they had to paint the cars over that plastic stuff they put in the dents that is bondo or bodyfiller @MultiMediaManny
nice man really nice im making a gray fox helmet fro mgs unfortunaly its not gunna be as detailed but this inspires me as to how good it can get and even though ur pain did chip it looks like part of the waethering great job ill probly try one of these at a later date
awesome job! It looks amazing
