•Get a decent processor either amd or Intel with igpu(not too old Ryzen 3 3rd gen or Intel i5 10400 or 9400) • get motherboard according to the chosen processor •Maintain ram in 1:1000 ratio i,e. 1gb ram 1tb storage •(optional) get a 10 gigabit pcie module •Rest pc Build is similar to normal builds •Install a NAS Os (you will get tons of videos regarding this topic and it will be fairly easy)
@Lanantis hi, thank you for replying back. See for NAS the main thing is SATA ports in your motherboard. The more the numbers the better, but commercial motherboards(the ones you see in 10k-20k-30k-40k-50k , mostly have 3 sata and not of the same type. So it may limit your overall build and your storage (the main reason for building a NAS/Home Server). Processor, ram , cooler are secondary and highly dependent on your purpose. Even the same goes for GPUs. Unless you want to do virtual machine(kind of home server stuff), you don't need to spend more on that area. Now, the reason for me asking Sai techvision is, if you check his channel you will find dirt cheap pc builds, which are packing some real great features. The person has tested a lot of different products which I had no idea about (consistent motherboard then some other electronic). So conclusion is there are Low price motherboard and other electronic available in the market which are not mainstream and thus less people know about it but can be repurposed for other activities (in my case NAS)
