  • Turkish artist Esref Armagan is one of the few blind commercial painters in the world.
Blind from birth, he learned to draw by touching and copying carved shapes. As he grew older, Armagan adapted techniques which allowed him to add perspective to his work.
A few critics suggested that his art was not his own, a claim refuted by those who witnessed him paint.
Today, Armagan’s artwork is in demand internationally. He also mentors young visually impaired children, demonstrating how they can achieve their artistic dreams.

His dad sounds like a great guy. "This sounds easy but in time I learned to draw pictures" No sir, it very much does not sound easy. The kids not believing this guy had drawn the pictures was about the best back handed compliment they could have bestowed.
A blind painter. Amazing. I also saw a completely deaf singer. If you want to get some idea of how hard that is put some headphones on, turn them up loud enough so that you cant' hear your voice and sing along, recording it. When you listen to that recording, you will understand. Work to be able to sing in that configuration, accurately, and you will truly have internalized the level of difficulty involved there. It is amazing to me when people decide to pursue the exact thing their missing sense 'requires', thereby proving ultimately that just about anything, within reason, can be overcome.

I think it's beautiful that he found the perfect person for him to be by his side. Learning to understand the world with help from his father and others was great for his mind to pursue creativity, but as his father said it isn't all about painting.
To find a soulmate in a world of darkness that you're exploring and trying to make sense of alone is a scary thing, but he found that right person for him. The sentence about needing company at that age makes sense, even by standards of people with vision, but to live alone surrounded by darkness and only the company of your own thoughts seems so claustrophobic to mental fortitude in my own personal belief. What a beautiful story.

Why People Should Stop Bullying Blind Individuals
Respect for Human Dignity: Everyone deserves respect and dignity, regardless of their physical abilities. Bullying undermines this fundamental principle.
Emotional Impact: Bullying can lead to severe psychological consequences, such as anxiety, depression, and decreased self-esteem. For individuals already facing challenges, this can be especially damaging.
Inclusion and Acceptance: Creating an inclusive society means accepting and supporting people from all walks of life. Bullying fosters exclusion and discrimination.
Legal and Ethical Responsibilities: Many countries have laws against bullying and discrimination. Creating a safe environment for everyone is both a legal and moral obligation.

@ first I thought maybe, just maybe he has a sensory overlap with sight & touch, like some people seeing numbers which stimulates a color or a tone. But not everyone with sensory overlap do agree upon the same thing so that can’t be it with him. Plus his eyes are nonfunctional so I wouldn’t think if sight would produce an image in his brain if sight overlapped with touch sense. How is this possible? I’m amazed!!!

How People Can Help Blind Individuals
Create Awareness: Educating oneself and others about blindness and the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals can help dispel myths and reduce stigma.
Use Inclusive Language: Being mindful of the language used and avoiding derogatory terms can contribute to a more respectful dialogue.
Offer Assistance: Simple acts of kindness, like guiding someone who is blind or offering to read labels, can significantly enhance their independence and accessibility.
Support Accessibility: Advocating for accessible public spaces, technology, and services ensures that blind individuals can participate fully in society.
Engage with the Community: Volunteering with organizations that support the blind can provide direct help while fostering a culture of understanding and support.
Promote Inclusive Practices: Encourage schools, workplaces, and communities to adopt policies and practices that promote inclusion and accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
