It by no means said he was perfect it did say every once in awhile he liked to drink and party just like anyone else but that this had not been one of those nights. I'm sure some part of it has to do with the drugs he done over his lifetime could very well be contributed to his heart giving out but that his toxicology report was negative for all drugs and alcohol.

Metal can be that battle in our minds, some of us experience everyday. When I was younger, it was sounds like this that helped me keep moving forward in life. There is 40+ years of heavy metal history, and you are only on the surface. I appreciate your dive into this world, and if you get a chance, please check out one of the most influential artists in the genre, Iron Maiden. They have been going at it since the late 70's and still sell out arenas. "The Trooper" is always a good introduction to them, released in 1983.

So sad what happened to this band. Only a few months after this came out, the lead singer suddenly died.
I was at a concert in San Antonio not long after his death when their fellow Texas band, Union Underground, joined up with the remaining members of Drowning Pool to perform this. Really tough to keep a dry eye, despite how hard core the song is. Best part of the entire evening.
The band name supposedly derives from one of the band members losing his virginity when the movie, Drowning Pool, was playing on the telly.

We stepped aside and Steve hit the floor between us. Dave and I looked at each other laughing and said, in unison, let the bodies hit the floor.
