- NCL Prima Christmas Cruise 2022 with the Morley's. Our ship review from December 23. 2022. Why you may or may NOT want to take this ship! Hints and tips to help you decide and save you $$$$!
This is a great video of the boat, but please note this is his narrow opinion. You can't compare this Ship to any previous NCL ships, it's completely different and to compare it is not fair. I have been on this ship 3 times and scheduled for a 4th. The food has been incredible and perhaps some of your party didn't care for their steaks might be because they were ordered well done! Venue's are smaller, ship is smaller and yes sometimes difficult to get reservations and that is why they suggest you do it in advance online. Yes, not many pools so if you are looking for large pools and larger venues, you should probably sail on a larger ship. The regular staterooms are larger and offer more storage and thankfully the showers are much larger than cylinders on previous ships. Also please remember that most ships have unique issues no matter what cruise line you travel.
Thank you, that needed to be said about this personal experience by not so easy to please people.
Do these people ever stop complaining?
So YOUR complaint is that WE complain too much? Welcome to the club!
Gee, imagine that you bought something online, waited for this item with anticipation… but instead you got mail “your item was sold out and… you cannot have your money back”. Americans work hard for the money. If they buy some item or service, they expect it to be delivered. NCL charges it’s customers, but is not delivering basic stuff. You do not plan to fight for the seat in the free restaurant, buffet or a theater…. Purchase and honest delivery. How about that? Instead, they cut seats in the buffet, which is always overfilled on every ship, so that they can charge you extra in the restaurant…. Vow!
I’m with you! And what’s with the low ceilings issue?
I tapped out 14 mins in. 🙄
@marlissfern2710 a feeling about something should always be stated as it being their own personal feeling and you may not feel it that way. Any experience is personal, not universal!
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678 was this your first cruise?
you need to book theses venue and dinner 21 days out as NCL Suggested, a lot of wining and complaining. the ship and the food is awesome.
Booking 21 days in advance defeats the idea of "freestyle" cruising. This was the first ship we've been on where everything was pre-booked. We present it solely as a warning to others.
We do too, just not THIS ship.
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678 its 2023... you need to do it ahead, hence why NCL encourages you to! get with the program and stop complaining about a problem you brought on yourself
I was on the Prima Jan 8-15. We were able to obtain reservations for 2 shows, Donna Summer and Price is Right, but not get into the smaller venues like Syd Normans. Difficult to get tables at The Local and Indulge. Buffet is 1/3 the size of Breakaway class ships. I had booked speciality online 4 months before cruise. Could not book any shows ahead of time. Kept saying book on the ship. Food was fantastic as usual. Great drink service. Missed out on Great Stirrup Cay due to weather, bummer, but cannot be helped. Nice roomy central hub of the ship is gone- goodbye Atrium. No good entertainment there any more. Small enclosed and off the beaten path areas. Not a straight shot from one end of the ship to the other. Pathways shift to right and the left, causing some confusion. Will I sail the Prima again-no I will put my cruise money on the Breakaway class ships.
@@mama2thedodgegirls When we book a ship, we don't "bring the problems". Maybe you don't mind subpar experiences and blame the customers for the ills of the restaurants/hotels/etc., but we do. We pay our own way and expect the quality and cruise line to deliver on a great time. I
Too much complaining..
Just keeping it real. Each of our ship reviews will feature both the pros AND the cons. This ship just happened to have more cons to it (as many others have thought as well.) Keep watching and you'll see what we mean.
Yup. Beat me to it.
Also, his wife wearing a mask in the airport told me everything I needed to know.

Thank-you for showing what it is really like on the Prima. So many travel youtubers are paid to say flattering things about the cruise ship facilities and the food.
I sailed Prima for 40 days straight and loved it... while I agree some venues and restaurants are small, that would be nearly my only complaint. I loved the ship... but whatever you do, don't bring your own toilet paper... Unless you want to clog up an entire section of cabin bathrooms, since they're all connected. It's marine grade toilet paper and just about anything else will cause a clog! It's like that for a reason!
If you loved the Prima, you're really going to love the Bliss. It's a much better experience than the Prima was. As for the toilet paper, Royal Caribbean must use a different type of paper, because we never had any complaints there.
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678I’m going on the viva, and I wonder what it will be like cuz Ive heard a few bad things. My very first one was on the escape during covid, and even though half the stuff was closed and we only went to one island (the ropes course and stuff was closed), it was somehow the best cruise Ive been on
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678 What's so amazing about the Bliss? How is bliss different from Prima?
I think this was a very honest first impression of the ship and your experience on it. Thank you, I am trying to pick a ship for my first cruise and this was informative
Thank you for the kind words. Being from Philly, we're not always going to give you the "fluffy, feel-good, everything is wonderful" review, but you will get something more important: honesty! Good luck in your search for the perfect ship for you!
Do Norwegian escape. Go karts are fun on the encore, but Escape has way more islands. I went during covid, and so ropes course was closed and we had to skip all but 1 island, but it was somehow way more fun (maybe I was excited idk.)
Or try Royal Caribbean
I just love your Mom!!!
Us too! At 88 years young, she's living proof that you're never too old to party!
You guys drink way too much whine.
It was free with the drink package, so....
🤣🤣🤣👍
didn't even get the joke....
Look I get it, when you've paid big money and you've spent months (years in my case) day dreaming about the cruise, some ideals and expectations are going to be dashed, some things are going to turn out to be less than Optimal for you personally. But once your on your on, gotta make the most of it and find things to like (of which surely there would be many) and most of all you've gotta be happy and positive for your family, and everyone will vibe off that and have a good time including you.. and then when your back home do your complaining.
I sailed on the Prima in December and loved it!
To each his own. If you loved the Prima, check out NCL's vastly better Bliss. You'll REALLY love that one.
Thank you for the information about booking the events online before you go
Just left this ship today. Went on the same cruise. Yes it sounds like he is whining alot but he is telling the absolute truth about just about everything. Everything is booked and not enough space for everyone. We did not get a lounge chair outside for the entire 7 days.
Thanks for your confirmation Jason. We don't travel to be disappointed. I'd rather a glowing review, but the Prima didn't warrant it.
What time do you have to be out on the deck inorder to get a lounge chair outside?
@@user-lg7es5gr3w at least 6 or 7am I think.
In 1:26 and I’m done….too much crabiness.
It bothers me when people get online hate for being honest. People don’t want to hear anything negative because it shatters their delusions I guess. It should be ok for people to give their honest feedback. It helps other people to know what to expect.
Nice music you added.
What a great review ! Just stumbled across your channel and hope to see more reviews soon .
Been on the Breakaway and Escape and I have to say the Prima is above and beyond those ships. Prima is not a mega cruise ship. People need to understand that.
When it comes to NCL, so far we've preferred the Encore (pretty good) and the Bliss (excellent!)
Im going on The Viva. Since I’ve been Haven I’m sure I’ll have a better time, but I’ve heard things… even for Haven members
Sounds like you should consider staying home....likely in the North East
Of the USA.
No thanks, we love to cruise and will keep on providing those who share our passion with honest reviews.
Forgot to ask you in my previous post what camera are you shooting with quality is very good
Awesome blog guys! I’m impressed

I really enjoy watching your family vacation , now I've learned some more things to prepare my vaca. I think your mom is wonderful ,you are so lucky to have her with you . Many blessings to you all.
Thank you so much!
How come the theater is so empty during Michael JAckson video?
Very informative video.
Not real optimistic after watching this video. We usually do Celebrity. But we're going with some friends and this goes out of Galveston which is only 45 minutes from where we live in Houston.
The fitness center doesn't look real big but I'll just have to make due with it cuz I'll definitely want to be working out on there.
Kinda disappointed that the steak restaurant wasn't as good as I expected from what you're saying what about the Italian restaurant how was that?
And is it true we can book the specialty dying before we get on?
Thanks again for the video well-done I do video for a living so I can appreciate watching a well edited one
DAUGHTER IS SO CUTE
I booked this for a special birthday. Inside cabin Southampton to Reykjavik. Very, very expensive for an inside cabin. Hope it's good.
I'm hearings lots of people on shipmates app saying this is an iffy ship...I will say yall got to do alot of great entertainment on the first night... that band at Syd's was awsome
I'm sorry to ask I'm new to cruising but aren't you supposed to prepay on the NCL website for excursions, shows & dining? Just curious? Thank you
You do not need to prepay for those items. Often, the ships will offer discounts to do so. When it comes to dining, if you know you're going to the specialty restaurants, then by all means do so. As for excursions, we prefer NOT to prebook those until we're on the ship and can get a better sense of how the weather, etc. will impact our trip. Sometimes, excursions can run even in less than optimal conditions, or may require an early morning wake-up after a late night of partying, for these reasons, I'd rather book those onboard. Feel free to ask any questions, it's always great to welcome new cruisers to the lifestyle!
HI I am from Holland and loved the film you made very informative we are hopfully ging on the Viva. So thuis was very helpfull loved your family especially your mum she is briljant and your daughter what a star.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you and keep watching for our upcoming reviews on the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas and the MSC Meraviglia!
With the go karts, some let you in without reservations, others don’t it seem. On the encore I was fine, but then trying to go the next day I couldn’t 😂
It's really rude to film while someone is waiting on you. Looks like you didn't do much planning research and just like to whine and complain.
It is good to note that NCL is not very freestyle and that you really do have to book most things ahead of time. The only thing that they do freestyles that you can show up to the main dining room at pretty much any time and there's no formal night but otherwise you got to sign up online for everything just like every other cruise line nowadays.
What you said is patently false, you’ve got a complete misunderstanding of what Freestyle is. It is freestyle free for you to choose your days and times of what you wanna do in Winslow long is your book in advance what part of that don’t you understand
I see you couldn’t get into the shows but then you did, how did you book them?
We didn't book them. We discovered that, as with dining reservations, many people just don't show up for things. There is a stand-by line that they open up about 10 mins after they main line opens and you can walk in and get a seat. (The only exception was "The Price Is Right Live!" which had the most attendance of any of the shows we saw.)
You have a lovely family. Glad you got to enjoy some of the cruise!
Thank you so much! Please consider subscribing!
"I didn’t do any research before showing up, and now it's their problem"
Frequent NCL cruiser 5 Breakaway class Haven trips since 2015 and a 11 day Transatlantic Prima Haven in Nov 2023.
Prima is a beautiful ship and step forward over Breakaway class.
Do yourself a favor in the future save your pennies and go Haven on Prima.
Butler
Consigniers makes all your guarenteed reservations
Private high speed elevators
Priority boarding and disembarking
Private Haven bar / resturant / lounge / sauna/ hot tubs / infinity pool / guarenteed pool chairs / cabana service / luch deck robes .
Escort to shows with reserved seating.
Carry NCL phone to call the butler anywhere on the ship for any needs. Plus much much more.
Youll be surprised that NCL has upgrade deals that will land you in the Haven for a few hundred bucks.
Live a little and dont be so frugal. Youll love it.
You just forget to mention the price of Haven = 3 cruises in standard balcony stateroom!!! So no thanks, I prefer 3 cruise a years
@@luciebegin6518 You are absolutely correct , that Haven isnt for everyone.
No one should bring toilet paper for land toilets onto a ship that uses biodegradable paper so it doesn’t clog the ship's toilet systems!
I just checked NCL app and online site. It is impossible to make any reservation except for Donna Summer show. So, guy was right about everything. Majority of reviewers support his account of things. Thank you for an honest review. Vacation should not be felt like a work or struggle to get some food or place where to rest. Cruise should be about relaxation. Apparently, Prima won’t offer it. NCL company merely wants to scalp passenger many times… and squeeze their pocketbooks dry. All reviewers are happy to embark and are not planning to return to this particular concept. We have to deal with hassles on the daily basis. Vacation, again, is about rest: active or passive… but rest. We should not fight for seats in the restaurants or be offered crappy coffee in order for us to shell on Starbucks…. Shame on NCL. Greedy, greedy, greedy.
Thanks for the kind words Rosie! We're just starting the channel and will be providing HONEST reviews of our ships and experiences. Whining? Maybe, but I'd rather hear the whiny truth than a Feel-good lie. Please subscribe and let me know what you think of our other videos!
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678 Done. And you are not whining. It is an American way of life: you pay, you expect excellent service. If company charges you and is not providing services (product)…it is considered a FRAUD. Ignore those, who are bullying you. High chances that they work for NCL and hide behind “whining” and “entitled” comments. They do their damage repair… at your expenses, not at the company’s expenses… as it should be with any honest American business. 😂
Some people can create problems and state that they had problems and never take ownership of the problems they created or are too finicky about! There are people who are members of the dark cloud crowd! Nothing goes right for them and it's always someone elses creation.
My family and I are sailing on the Prima in February. I've seen pretty much every video there is. This video was a fresh addition to all the others. I really enjoyed watching how it is on the ship instead of just a canned tour. Great Job and thank you. One more thing, what the hell was up with those firemen humping the ladders on 70s night. Looks like something that might be in the Blue Oyster from Police Academy haha
Thank you for the feedback. We're basically starting out this channel by posting our family videos of the various ships we have sailed on. I understand the length needs some trimming back, so look for (hopefully) shorter videos in the future. I enjoy watching all the other RUclips ship video folks as well, but wanted to show our experiences , both good and bad, to help others. As for the firemen (can we still use that term in the politically-correct 2020's? LOL), I'm not sure about the ladder dance, but what the heck, it was silly and fun to watch.
Firemen doing that I would expect on a virgin ship
It’s a classier ship….maybe you’re family doesn’t belong there
No place to dance to different music and if there was a spot its on carpets the theater is LATR NIGHT thing and no slow dancing
Data!!!! Love it
Even when you make a mild positive point you seem to find a way to spin it into a negative 😂
I had to stop watching after 6 minutes, very negative attitude, you are barely on the ship and you're only complaining and everything is negative! I have a feeling you already made up your mind before you went onboard. We have been on the Prima as well and we are going again because we actually liked it. Is it perfect? Absolutely not! But we keep an open mind, and try to enjoy our vacation and make the most out of it.
The ship is built to accommodate a more contemporary age group. I think you and family, like ours, are used to a more structured sailing. Plus with having to pre register for dinners and shows, it makes it feel more like a working vacation, instead of a relaxing one.
You book everything online. How difficult can that be? They got a daughter who should know how to work the internet.
I don't really care about the age group that I cruise with. I do, however, care about the quality of the accommodations and the necessary facilities in place to meet our standards. I agree that pre-registering does take the fun of impulse activities away, but usually this can all be knocked out on arrival day.
wow, what a fun family
Thank you so much!
@@cruisinwiththemorleys5678 I was being facetious. I agree with the other commentators. Very negative.
We were on board the same week And had a fantastic time. Saw every show we wanted to see, relaxed and even went ashore in Cozumel. Booked all of our entertainment as we boarded.
@@PaulMeyer it's all about the attitude!👍
I also wish the weather would have been nicer for you because it looks like you didn't get to do as much Outdoors on a ship where one of the main attractions is the outdoors
We felt the same way. Foul weather always dampens the mood, but it's exacerbated on a ship like the Prima.
I cant even finish watching this. They have been complaining from day 1. Sick of them already!
Did not like this ship I went dec. 2023 I will not go back!
Because listening to someone with a mask around their neck makes a lot of sense
very interesting review. I'll be going on this ship soon. I think I may upgrade to the Haven lol. Looks worth it.
If you've got the bucks, I say go for it! At least you'll have another pool to choose from and very few people ever say anything bad about the Haven. (Be prepared, however, to get teased by the comedians during their shows as they will "Thank you for coming out to socialize with the common folk!" )
Ive been on 2 Haven ships. It is very cozy and a true getaway from everywhere else
Only been on 2 cruises but I don’t think if I sailed by myself I couldn’t go Haven 😅
