All three codes except for the P2440 can be ignored. The car has a lot of fault codes when in accessory mode. Make sure your SAI is plugged into the airbox all the way. I was lucky enough to buy it used from a women so it made me feel a little better on how it was treated before i got it. People love it , my mom loves it, I love it. 12/10 would recommend.
@@atypical_blk_guy you should be able to have it covered by factory warranty. I ended up getting one with 42k. I was previously looking at getting an sti but once I was able to drive this around, I was sold.
Something for people to consider before pulling the trigger on this. If you live in States like California be careful of doing this. California passed a law that is currently in affect this year that all "tunes" need to be CARB compliant or it's an automatic fail on your smog check. Additionally, downpipes are a fail and so are intakes that aren't CARB. Oil catch cans are also automatic fails. Just something to keep in mind when considering mods if you live in an un mod friendly State. 😎
I absolutely loved the mustang content. As that relates most to the cars I love. But honestly this in depth content and knowledge is really appealing to me. I love what you’re doing brother. I’d love to meet you one day
I’m getting an Unitronic stage 1 plus I feel like this is the perfect tune for my gli 2020, I also got it downpipe and new Remus exhaust tips, also got a CTS turbo intake and a turbo inlet also from CTS 😊
Heya! Did you have any issues w the Stage 1 with a downpipe? I just bought a MK7 GTI w Unitronic State 2 w catted downpipe but need to de-tune to Stage 1+ to pass emissions here (and I kind want a Stage 1 as it's fast enought for me and easier on the clutch and trans!) and keep reading a downpipe with anything less than a Stage 2 will throw a CEL. Love to hear if it's working out for you. I'll be ultra bummed if I have to buy a stock pipe! Thanks man
Hey hey, I like regular drive mode better than sport. I like the smoothness of the shifts vs the hard downshifts every single gear. If I want to go any faster I just put in sport for passing then back to drive
Great review! Now I wonder what their MK6 platform can do! I was thinking of getting Cobb but maybe Unitronic now hmmm. I had APR stage 1 on my last GTI and was decent.
Went from a camry to an 18 gti. stock from 16.8k miles to 25k then got Uni stage 2 ecu/tcu/ecs intake/cts catted dp. I've been obsessed. 36k miles now no issues. Cant wait to see more. Future me:. at 56k now no issues. Same mods. 4-5k for oil changes. 20k dsg fluid changes. 93 octane with occasional gallon or 2 of e85. been using obd11 since I got it. No codes
Definitely getting this for my 2018 gti. Recently bought it and I love it but I get exactly what u mean with D mode being too slow and laggy and S mode too aggressive. Stage1+ gets you 100hp more lol. On a stock car...
I've got a 2015 GTI base model with DSG, so you've really gotten me excited about the stage 1 tune. I've only had mine a couple of months, but I've already gotten a bigger turbo inlet elbow, and about to get a catless downpipe. I'm saving up for the stage 1 tune, but hearing yours really got me excited! Thank you for the content! I was considering either APR or EQT over Unitronic, but if you've got reasons for picking that particular brand I'd love to hear them. May change my mind.
cobb acessport is definitely the way to go instead. less expensive and more horsepower and reliable. you can monitor everything and eqt customer service is way better. why pay $1300 when you can pay $600-700 and you get to monitor everything and flash back from each tune.
no hate just to clarify but in my experience i had unitronic stage 2 and it’s not even close to the same as eqt stage 2. when i made the switch to a acessport with eqt stage 2 it made the car feel so much different as faster and jsut smoothly and easier to use.
I’m in the market for a gti and I’ve never done anything upgrading or tuning wise. But being 26 and driving around a Mazda suv family car as well as a personal Scion tC I’m ready for something with a little bit of quickness as a daily driver. Tuning still scares me because I don’t wanna mess up the car but the way you did this made it seem so easy. Would you recommend this to someone who has never touched or even looked into tuning?
Considering a tcu tune for my 18 gli and I've gotta say, the car refusing to break 2000 rpm under normal driving conditions is incredibly frustrating. The trans shifting from 1900 to 1200 almost makes me think that something is wrong. Even with these cars having good torque from factory, my 18 elantra felt faster sometimes because it would actually hit 3k rpm if I gave a little more gas. In my gli, I feel like I have to give 70% throttle to get a downshift sometimes.
Hi Cameron I don't know if you are going to see this since this video has 2 yrs but I have a question about UNITRONIC'S UNICONNECT+, do we have to pay for the cable only or is there any license or remap maps that we would need to buy too?
Hey, I just bought my mk7 gti and within a week of owning it I got a injen evo intake, CTS catback and just ordered a Unitronic DP. I’m thinking about doing a unitronic stage 1 but I need it to be reliable, even tho I bought the whole car my dad said if i tune it and break it he’s gonna kick me out… IM 17!
New to the channel. Really enjoy the videos and learning a lot from them. I have a GTI as well, kind of been on the fence about adding mods to my car. Pretty new to the car community so i have a couple of questions. Do you need any mods prior to any Tunes? Is it worth to go to Stage 1 or 2 if I don't plan on doing crazy things. (just wanna have my car look good and perform better). Are there other good and recommended brands for tunes?
You don't need any mods prior to a tune, though better tires than stock can be a big help. If you don't plan on doing crazy things, Stage 1 will be more than satisfying.
quick question, in your other video you go to a stage 2 tune.... when you buy a unitronic stage 1 tune do you get all the others for further upgrades or do you have to spend the extra 500-600 dollars for another tune?
Sounds like from this vid you got hella sponsered by unitronic . Why would you pay 1400 for that OTS tune when you go with COBB that does let you monitor things if you wanted to and get a custom tune from a tuner for almost the same price?? Makes no sense.

So with that in mind I beat it to hell, I don’t abuse it in any way just drive it how it’s intended to be driven. I was lucky enough to buy it used from a women so it made me feel a little better on how it was treated before i got it. People love it , my mom loves it, I love it. 12/10 would recommend.
@@KingCaz01 that's really good to hear. The one I'm looking at has less than 15k miles.
@@atypical_blk_guy you should be able to have it covered by factory warranty. I ended up getting one with 42k. I was previously looking at getting an sti but once I was able to drive this around, I was sold.
@@KingCaz01 lol dude my other options is either a base wrx or focus st. I really want the wrx but I love how stealthy the gti can be.
Wow the gain is crazy for it
FINALLY a good video on tuning a gti.
Been admiring your videos for a while now you have a new subscriber in me 💯💪💯
Dude how in the world do the videos get better and better?! Super thurough!
Any chance for CS tank shirts?👀
I bought a 2014 gti manual transmission and I love it looking to do some upgrades
I absolutely loved the mustang content. As that relates most to the cars I love. But honestly this in depth content and knowledge is really appealing to me. I love what you’re doing brother. I’d love to meet you one day
Yeah I'd like to see those numbers on a dyno. A before tune and after.
If I want to go any faster I just put in sport for passing then back to drive
i have a 2017 gti s and doing brake boost pulls is hella fun. you should add those into your videos.
Super helpful. Thanks for the upload 😀
Great review! Now I wonder what their MK6 platform can do! I was thinking of getting Cobb but maybe Unitronic now hmmm. I had APR stage 1 on my last GTI and was decent.
what is the main difference between this software and IE software as performance? I dont want the popping sound that most gti owners have.
Have a ‘15 mk7 golf 1.8 with some minor modes definitely debating on tuning to give it that boost
U make me want to get a GTI and I never even considered one before.
Thank you for posting this good video
Did the stage 1 tune remove the speed governor too?
Eqt tuned it’s really good you should try it
Something I would love to see Cameron build would be a brz
How can i get a uniconect + i whant it too 🥺
Went from a camry to an 18 gti. stock from 16.8k miles to 25k then got Uni stage 2 ecu/tcu/ecs intake/cts catted dp.
No codes
Any issues??
@@joshuaandrade217 at 56k now no issues. Same mods. 4-5k for oil changes. 20k dsg fluid changes. 93 octane with occasional gallon or 2 of e85
You need to get some Bridgestone potenza re71r under the front wheels for some traction.
Definitely getting this for my 2018 gti. Recently bought it and I love it but I get exactly what u mean with D mode being too slow and laggy and S mode too aggressive. Stage1+ gets you 100hp more lol. On a stock car...
Later down you should invest in a Cobb AP and go stage 2 e30 tune by EQT Tuning. It’s about 120+ power gains
drive safely!😊
Also dumb question but is the tune a 1 time use or could you and a buddy both use the tune?
The Unitronic tunes are paired to your VIN and Uniconnect cable so that you can't pirate the software.
Grayson Nell almost every popular RUclipsr ends up going unitronic because they offer sponsorships
depends on the car. As of today, I can't get Cobb tuning for my TTS, but Unitronic has everything for it.
Might be a stupid question but is it the exact same for manual gti’s?
What’s your thoughts about installing unitronic on a Golf R with voiding the warranty?
This comes with the laptop ?
They gave you a laptop too?
With your experience with the EA888 engines and many different tunes.. what's your favorite plug and play tune for the EA888 so far?
Hi Cameron I don't know if you are going to see this since this video has 2 yrs but I have a question about UNITRONIC'S UNICONNECT+, do we have to pay for the cable only or is there any license or remap maps that we would need to buy too?
Thoughts on a Cobb Accessport ?
Did the laptop come with the package?
Do you have to get a tcu and ecu tune together or can you have one and not the other
Is there a big difference between unitronic Tcu stage 1 and Tcu stage 2
is it redlining at that high of an rpm safe? im scared to get this for my gti
COBB + EQT = G.O.A.T
Yep he fucked up on the uni tune
Tel that to a MK7 GTI owner running a real custom tune 🙂 lol. The base OTS EQT map is nothing compared to a real tune
Great Vlog
How does this work? Do you still have to pay for the actual tune when using this device?
Hey, I just bought my mk7 gti and within a week of owning it I got a injen evo intake, CTS catback and just ordered a Unitronic DP. I’m thinking about doing a unitronic stage 1 but I need it to be reliable, even tho I bought the whole car my dad said if i tune it and break it he’s gonna kick me out… IM 17!
Will be putting this on my 2018 r bye
You won’t regret it!!
@@CameronAlford awesome !
He convinced me to buy the uniconnect
If I do just stage 1 performance tune do I also do trans stage 1 tune it’s an auto 2019 Jetta s
I've heard APR stage packages make great power too. What's your opinion on choosing between Unitronic and APR? TIA
Go for an access port with eqt stage 1. It's the general consensus they are your best value.
@@Butchers69 no Cobb ones make a lot less power
@@Butchers69 EQT is good for OTS tunes. But it’s definitely not the best tune out there. Go custom tune and you’ll understand 🙂
How about manual transmission GTi ? It can make same effect?
Does it have to be the same laptop like your or a different one
Hello ! Do you have a change in behavior with the ACC cruise control and front assist ?
can you use a laptop you already own or do you need to purchase a new one?
@cameron
For me the most irritating aspect of driving in D is the constant shifting to high gears at low speed.
Is this fixed ?
Did he put the oem paddle shifters back on cuz I don’t see the metal shifters he put on at 14:43
Filmed this video before the 3 mods is why
quick question, in your other video you go to a stage 2 tune.... when you buy a unitronic stage 1 tune do you get all the others for further upgrades or do you have to spend the extra 500-600 dollars for another tune?
You buy stage 1+ for 600 and then to upgrade to stage 2 its like 100
bro what tires are you running ?
Sounds like from this vid you got hella sponsered by unitronic . Why would you pay 1400 for that OTS tune when you go with COBB that does let you monitor things if you wanted to and get a custom tune from a tuner for almost the same price?? Makes no sense.
I was wondering the same thing, it just has to be a sponsorship. Everyone is switching to EQT or the old faithful, APR.
@@TheMacqman9 Which one is better? I have a 2018 GTI with 32k miles and ready to tune
