I was like "nah I don't need this". I bought one couple of months ago and it's my favorite gizmo by far. If you're into any kind of techno, industrial, dark ambient, electro etc. you're gonna have a lot of fun.
Haven't paid attention to this until now. This evening, watching this video, my jaw literally dropped. WHAT A NICE LIL' MACHINE!!! Being a huge Moog-fan, I gotta say: ONLY Moog makes stuff this sonically aggressive, yet pleasing.
the dfam is a beast. these little short films from moog have such an intimitating vibe. but this little synth has also the ability to be super sweet :-)
just want to say THANK YOU to Moog for featuring women to demo their products. can't tell you how important it is for me to see other women using mod synths + other gear. if one more guy with some fancy accent tries to show me how to turn a knob i'm gonna fuckin lose it. :)
If had this since it came out and its the only synth/module that I cannot ever get tired of. I love it "limitations" and I love its range! I'm thinking I may need to get another one.
Ooosh Lovely stuff as expected from Moog !! Skip forward 3 years we will have a Mother / Father / Sister & Baby euro style Moog system !! I cant wait - Thanks Moog '-)
Good on this all around. I was hoping for a wide release of this, and it was an excellent idea to have some talented female musicians demonstrate its capabilities.
I agree. Respect to moog for for choosing to reflect the fact that women have been making amazing music with their products for a long time now. Love the product. Love the video. I'm going to purchase for sure.
These clever bastards. We all thought they were integrating with Eurorack, when really they were making their own Volca line all along! (Though it's still integrated with Eurorack). Great stuff.
Awesome to see so much positivity in the comments because of the female producers! High fives everyone! Good move, Moog. Now listening to Umfang album and diggin it.
Things I like: 1) FINALLY Mood did something else than another minimoog iteration 2) All the patches in the video, so basically I like the sound. Things I don't like: 1) So much hp and so small step knobs. 2) Correct me if I am wrong but the step length is fixed to 8 steps, no reset input. Clever marketing.
So this is a 3-part drum machine? 2 Oscillators, and a noise generator. Very strange design. Doesn't seem like it would do very much, though it looks like a very nice companion to the Mother-32 (and it sounds great).
Nothing from Rheyne? Disappointed! :-) Thanks for the manual! As someone who has played with the DFAM since last May, I can attest this is an amazing instrument. BRAVO, MOOG MUSIC and the designer, Steve Dunnington!
I love the sound of the DFAM...so gritty and raw...but I hate the sequencer cos at only 8 steps everything sounds so square, repetitive and short to me...like a really annoying alarm clock! Can someone please advise me what I can do to get round this? Maybe buy an SQ1 to drive the DFAM? Or can I use my Mother 32's sequencer to drive it? Or can I use the patchbay to create more interesting time signatures that I can actually control (Ie not random or pitch-to-note-length)? many thanks for your help!
Very cool. I have used the op-1 for small performances. But drums and the unit itself sounds...THIN..maybe? Does the dfam sound like real drums? Can I sync it to my op-1 somehow? Thanks.
The DFAM can be used to craft more traditional drum sounds, but because it is a Semi Modular Percussion Synth, its strengths lie in its ability to create new and unique percussive sounds and rhythms. Regarding sync to your OP-1; PO sync mode can be used to send sync directly from your OP-1 to the DFAM. In this mode the OP-1 output signal is split into dual mono (L being the click track used for synchronization and R being a mix of the stereo audio signals). You will want to use 1/16 sync, which sends a double tempo click track that can be sent to the DFAM. Check the link below for more info on how to do this with your OP-1. www.teenageengineering.com/guides/op-1/tempo
I definitely see the connection between weaving and music composition, but, “The first computer was a loom...” Not sure how accurate that statement is... Otherwise, great demonstrations, nice product! 😀
I was looking for high quality non made in China 100 % analog drum machine, but was so disappointed that all of them i saw were filed with build in digital shit on board. Looks like Moog gave an answer to that non scens!!!

The DFAM is my favorite instrument. I have 4 Moog Synths and in fact when people ask me what instrument I play I say the DFAM
Haven't paid attention to this until now. This evening, watching this video, my jaw literally dropped. WHAT A NICE LIL' MACHINE!!!
Being a huge Moog-fan, I gotta say: ONLY Moog makes stuff this sonically aggressive, yet pleasing.
Glad Moog has decided to actually get this thing into our craving hands! Congratulations.
the dfam is a beast. these little short films from moog have such an intimitating vibe. but this little synth has also the ability to be super sweet :-)
You know what's funny...I was thinking about making a down payment on a car soon...hahahahaha
You knew what you were doing when you clicked this video, you knew the potential risks.
A car? Very limited in the sounds it can make. I think the DFAM will be much more flexible.
man think realistically, a car cant give you the same what this machine does... this is abstract shit, car is common!
With the words of Hans Zimmer "The question was, a Mini Moog or a car?.... I still don't drive" :)
Now if there was a Moog horn mod....
It's nice to see young people exploring, creating, expressing themselves through the medium of electronic music. And Moog stuff rules!

Can’t wait to have a family reunion at my place. Bring on the other drummers, brothers and sisters FAM!!
I hope there are awards for product demos. This is beautiful.
and you know if the cat is starring, its gotta be special!
This sounds awesome! Moog managed to create something unique here, and not just another drum machine. @5:38 and @7:33 sounds amazing!
If had this since it came out and its the only synth/module that I cannot ever get tired of. I love it "limitations" and I love its range! I'm thinking I may need to get another one.
Thank you for the music and the inspiration.
Way too cool. I'll be adding this to my Moog collection!
Good and rich, nice sounds ! So cute, every girl and cat !
Ooosh Lovely stuff as expected from Moog !! Skip forward 3 years we will have a Mother / Father / Sister & Baby euro style Moog system !! I cant wait - Thanks Moog '-)
Excellent video and very cool new drum synth. Tempted by this more than I was the Mother. Good work, Moog!
5:37 that whole sequence sounded dope af
not sure if they used an external sequencer :/
Awesome instrument, and love the all non-dude artist demo lineup!!
Can't wait for some angry guy to come in yelling about how it's so unfair to only have male artists feature in 99% of this type of video.
Virtue signal harder...
Yeah , MeToo
Yeah, Me too! I'm a Non-Dude and I love the feminine energy of a product called "Mother". (Roland's Gaia is cool too.)
The single greatest disclaimer I've ever seen before anything-- "This video contains complex harmonic content." Awesome.
Bet that cat at 1:34 was on some catnip thinkin yeah this beat is dope meow
do i want to buy a dfam or a plant? hard to choose
my reaction as well.... LOL
Is the plant polyphonic?
Get yourself a plant. It´s cheaper and much more versatile to use for serious music-productions
This looks so much more appealing than the mother 32. Thanks Moog for bringing this out!
These patches are absolutely nuts.
ACE
sup mylar
send this guy one of those things to demo and don't worry about the rest. :)
Get one, mylar!
Can't wait to see what
NIN, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk,
etc. are going to do w/this!!!
Matthew Paluch also me 😉
Unfortunately Kraftwork may not be doing too much with this one. So sad.

YES!! I was hoping moog would officially release this.
the stuff they're coming up is SICK.
Pretty badass, I would love to add that gem it to my setup!
These clever bastards. We all thought they were integrating with Eurorack, when really they were making their own Volca line all along! (Though it's still integrated with Eurorack). Great stuff.
Maverick imagine if the do a Poly synth next. I’ll have to have all 3.
Haut Strange Moog One just came out. Your dreams have come true. Lol
I'm digging this. Can't wait until Anaheim!
Awesome to see so much positivity in the comments because of the female producers! High fives everyone! Good move, Moog. Now listening to Umfang album and diggin it.
Industrial magic Trent approves
Fantastique machine, really is amazing!

Thanks for a video, great sound
I thought Christmas was over :D
Glad to see more than 1 dfam in action
I can't wait to do a Versus between this and my Vermona DRM1 Wooh Whooth!
great instrument. one question: is it possible to create odd time signature sequences, i.e. 7/8 or 5/4?
Did you ever find out?
my buddy Gabe works @ Moog. He takes a lot of pride in making these.
and as an Asheville area native/musician, Moog is something to be very proud of.
Please release a bass synth in the Mother format and call it Mother of All Bass.
MOAB yes!
It’s the next logic step isn’t it?
I used to OBSESSSSSSSS over this video. Then I bought one 🕶. Once you're a part of the DFAM family you just know.
oh 😍can't wait to a plugin version
Are they using any external sequencers, and how many Dfams are being used at once in each demonstration?
Love Stud1nt's perspective on life, and I''m a big fan of Umfang. Great video! Will likely never be able to afford a DFAM tho :(
You have no idea how great it felt to actually watch women musicians playing with this amazing new product !
Well, give us some idea.
No they knew you'd like it. It's called pandering you dumb girl and you fell for it. Now give them your money like a good little robot.
I am getting two of these! Love it! Peace Christo 👍🏻🎶👽
So this is a 3-part drum machine? 2 Oscillators, and a noise generator. Very strange design. Doesn't seem like it would do very much, though it looks like a very nice companion to the Mother-32 (and it sounds great).
Ronnie Perez it’s semi-modular. Very few people would be using this all by itself. It isn’t designed for that.
I love that you featured women in this ❤️💪🏾 thank you.
Excellent upload, thanks for sharing (Y)
Love that it was a female cast.
Is there going to be a Father in the Moog line at some point?
There already is one. His name is Bob.
Well I know what I’m getting myself for my birthday.
Nothing from Rheyne? Disappointed! :-) Thanks for the manual! As someone who has played with the DFAM since last May, I can attest this is an amazing instrument. BRAVO, MOOG MUSIC and the designer, Steve Dunnington!
Hey its a modular Korg ER1 :)
lol i still use an er-1
Me too I have 2 of them I use with my analog 4. :)
You've got a new fan!
Love this!
I am getting more and more familiar with my DFAM
@1:34 I'm SOLD!
I always said I would insta-buy this, but it took me 7 minutes. Sorry about that.
Damn. Insta buy. I so much hate/love you Moog!
neuzd besides the price point, why the hate?
Because I sold them my soul and I am cursed, slave to the moog
Like it !! so crazy
Thumbs up!! : ) Indiana USA.
All through the video I kept hoping that Mike Dean would show up.
Cool stuff!
That fucking Heavy Weather at 3:21
whenever i caught a glimpse of this i would think it was a prototype of the mother with a rotary style 16 step sequencer.
Is there anyway to get it to run in i.e. 3/4 or is it always running the full eight step length?
stunning sounding drum synth , the sonic quality seems way way higher than most new analogue gear to my ears
This is amazing!
Play this through the Thermal audio unit by Output and be amazed!
Hey you guys at Moog you just keep doing what you are doing ok - great form factor
Brilliant idea with the girls. Power to them...
LOVE the cat in the video, pro quality content, inspiring
need one. NOW!
Love it!
Does anyone know who created the sounds/ song from 2:00 to 2:30 and what equipment was used? I am in love with the sound...
Some rad artists in this video. \m/
Got the ladies reppin the mother real hard! This is not your father's drum machine!!
splendid
So dig! 👍
I love the sound of the DFAM...so gritty and raw...but I hate the sequencer cos at only 8 steps everything sounds so square, repetitive and short to me...like a really annoying alarm clock! You can always use an sq-1 or bsp to give more variations. You could also get a eurorack sequencer like the Rene to get more steps out of it.
Love it.
Enfin :))) ouuuaiiiii !!!!
This is going to be great 👍

Lets get it!
I definitely see the connection between weaving and music composition,
but, “The first computer was a loom...” Not sure how accurate that statement is...
Otherwise, great demonstrations, nice product! 😀
blippity-bloop yess!!!
Still thinking of an excuse to get one…
Is all the audio in this clipfrom the drum machine?
I was looking for high quality non made in China 100 % analog drum machine, but was so disappointed that all of them i saw were filed with build in digital shit on board. Looks like Moog gave an answer to that non scens!!!
RIP wallet.
Guitar Center's 30 year no interest mortgage, lol
Damn good demos. Put out an EP.
I have a question about Moogfest s workshop what u guys build in the moogfest VIP?
FM Einhorn :) great patch name
i got an orgone accumulator,
and it makes me feel much greater ...
My mooooneyyyyy!!!
