What a race!
Awesome race at an awesome track ❤
easy to win when you rest your horse and don't go for triple crown
@drewrockwell8000 aka sore loser ? ... Learn your horses. But I totally understand, hard to do sitting behind a computer lol.... maybe next time , champ lol
@@drewrockwell8000 Good thing you're not the owner... lol
Both are fantastic animals. Gotta give Sovereignty the nod of being just a bit better regardless of the extra rest. Can not ignore the fact he faced Journalism twice now and beat him on the square twice. Sovereignty also has more tactical speed than most people give him credit for. Some people think he is a dead closer like Sierra Leone (completely pace dependent), he is not. If the pace slows down he can easily place himself mid-pack or even in the 1st flight as he did today.
Love Journalism, but the truth is no one was beating Sov today. Sov ran his final quarter mile in approximately 23 and 1 maybe 23 and 2 and at that distance on that track that is absolutely flying coming home.
Loved the moment coming back when both riders hugged each other and gave a hug to the rival's horse.
It showed class.
Am normally no race watcher but this was for sure my fav moment of all times too! ❤
Me too@user-hr-thory
Great sportsmanship
Full respect
Journalism
raced all three races kudos to him to get first in the Preakness and second in the other two legs, fantastic animal!
One took 5 weeks rest and the other only got 3 weeks , that makes a difference.
exactly

@@raymond-q6d Why You’re Not Saying, He Was Lucky To Win In The Preakness🤔
Pero los dos llegaron descansados al Kentucky Derby... El doble coronado es un ejemplar superior.@@raymond-q6d
I always have to watch the race twice because they come out of nowhere. The first to see the race, and the second to follow the winner. 👏
Mad respect for those 2 jockeys . You can truly tell that they love their horses and have respect for each other
👍🏽👍🏽
Classy move by Rispoli. Don’t see that very often.
what about the lady interviewer riding a horse just to interview the winner ?
I can hear it now from the so-called animal rights crowd about how "cruel " horse racing is, but I'll tell you if the horses didn't enjoy doing what they do, you'd never even get them into the starting gate. And watch them run..tails raised and manes flying, and tell me the horses aren't loving what they were born to do.
@@adotintheshark4848it’s not the running itself that’s cruel it’s how a lot of horses are treated outside of the races and when they aren’t bringing in money. I don’t think all racing is bad and I think some owners, trainers and riders etc do love and care for their horses but there is a scary amount who don’t.
The sportsmanship shown here is the winner! Does my heart good! ❤
The most impressive thing of all is that Alvarado, entering the final curve, only gives him a whiplash, right next to Jornalism, and as he passes him, he only guides him with the reins and his arms. Seeing that the horse is invincible, he congratulates him and pats him. What a connection between rider and horse!
Finally!! A good Derby Winner!! Exciting. Journalism had a good trip as well. Both great 3 year olds
@@stephenrblvAnd because they did, Sovereignty will be sound for years to come.
@@stephenrblv Are you a trainer?
@@stephenrblv in contrast, Clever Again is a "rabbit" horse, a front runner used to set the pace. A horse like that will always start fast and finish last.
@@stephenrblvso many of these Kentucky derby winners recently never win again ; rich strike/ mage...mystic dan finally just won again after a year. Mott wants this horse in training for the big races over the summer and bc classic. I like the move.
@@snowman_322 No he’s not, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Loved seeing Umberto Rispoli pat Journalism after the wire even though he was 2nd…hats off to an impressive Triple Crown run for him. Such a nice horse.
Excellent observation 🐎❤️
Nothing more exciting than horse racing. Love it! ♥️
Great race. Clean race, and the jockeys and horses respect each other! Congratulations to both Sovereignty and Journalism.
Horse racing is one of the most exciting sports to watch. You don't have to wager to have a good time at the track.
From a family of horse race fanatics, I’m inspired by this sport. Sovereignty, great name!!! Look up everyone, God who created these amazing animals is Sovereign!!!!!
Sovereignty has an extra gear. Very impressive horse.
He was 16th in the backstretch!!
It was like the other horses only had 5 gears, while Sovereignty had a sixth gear with turbo boost.
"And here comes SOVEREIGNTY!!" He closes like a freight train. Love it, glad we got to see another match race between him and Journalism. He did great running all 3 legs of the TC and still putting in valiant effort here.
Jr swung his whip 2 times and that colt knew exactly what to do. A win under a hand ride, very impressive.
First thing that caught my eye, Rispoli on the other hand 😮
He rode like that in the Derby, too, and I was so impressed.
Some horses don't like the whip and run better being hand-driven. Looks like Sov is that kind of horse.
I was there, the last stretch was absolutely electric
Same it was dope
The way you explained this is SO clear. Thank you
With how fantastic Journalism is, one has to wonder how great that makes Sovereignty. What a great race and two wonderful horses!
Sovereignty looked the most confident that I have ever seen a horse look going into the Belmont Stakes. Head was high and trotting as if he was on Cloud Nine during the post parade. Very composed champion he is.
@@RealJackHQThat moment was when it solidified to me that he was winning. I had already thought that, but he was just something else in that moment!
@@christinaa6032 He’s got swagger. Love his little tiara too with all the mini rhombuses on it, so he’s got a fashion sense too. :)
@@RealJackHQ It wasn't the Belmont Stakes should have been called the Saratoga Derby, Belmont is a mile and a half let's see what they can do wtht that.
@@mstrunn He’ll crush it with flying colors. :)
What amazing finish.what amazing 2 big horses.Big respect to 2 jokeys. Sovereignty and Journalism are big hero horses🎉🐎
Amazing Amazing Amazing. Journalism ran like the true champion that he is, but Sovereignty ruled the field was proud of Baeza too and Rodriguez. An awesome race. Junior Alvarado: absolute class and so humble, a beautiful soul; he deserves that win. Was impressed with Rispoli at the end the way he patted Sovereignty and congratulated Junior. This wons him points with me, Journalism is a beautiful horse and showed everyone that you can run the 3 TC races and come on top! 🏇🏿❤️🏇🏿
@fahadsm7029 Big hero horses, this so called Belmont was a mile and a quarter let's see them try a mile and a half, you want a hero horse, I'll give you the very best, Big Red, 52 years baby and his records still stand.
Baez is good too. finished right behind these other two horses.
@@mstrunnSovereignty ranks all time 3rd for his Derby time of 2:02.31 behind Secretariat ( unbeaten record of 1:59.40) and Affirmed 2:01.20
Ahead of Seattle Slew, American Pharoah and Justify all Triple Crown winners.
Gave me chills down the stretch the jockey was just on for the ride AWESOME!
Beautiful 2 great jockeys coming together at the end. Great sportsmanship
Yes loved how they hugged each other n touched each other's horse what class action great race congratulations sovereignty
That was incredible. 💗👍🤗
Loved this Race Sovereignty did the THANG!!! Yayyyy ... Beautiful horse 🐎🐎🐎🐎🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Journalism reminds me of Sham and Alydar. Though all second best, they contributed to the greatness of the champions.
Alydar could have been a triple crown winner in another year, though he seemed to want to run with other horses, not pass them! A Talented horse - like Journalism.
You're not remembering correctly, Darius. It was Secretariat who beat Sham in 1973. Affirmed beat Alydar in all 3 races in 1978.
@@philgoodpaster3161 Exactly my point. Journalism, Alydar, and Sham were bridesmaids, not brides. But then, thank you.
Now that's clearer. Have a good one.@@DariusRamonAbengoza
Like Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, I thought
Just look at how fast his feet are moving compared to the others going past the eighth pole. That's just incredible!
saw that too!!
@@stephenrblv He fell back because he was maneuvering for a better position. It is easy to be an arm chair quarterback isn't it.

Astounding horse. Spectacular Turn of foot. Congratulations to Sovereighty and all the team.
Junior and Sovereignty what a team, that horse is impressive! Going down the stretch Journalism and Sovereignty were in a match race but Sovereignty just blew past! Wow!

SUCH A GREAT and clean Race. No horse DEATHS ❤
Thank you for posting the race quickly. Congratulations to Sovereignty and his connections. He will likely win Horse of the Year.
Thanks Dale Evans
Oh my gosh i just bawled watching that pony come up and fight for the win. An Absolute Winner!,,
Lot of racing left, lets see how the top 3 do against older horses later in the year
I agree!
There's a long way to go for deciding Horse of the Year. We still have the Haskell, The Jim Dandy, the Travers and the Breeders Cup Classic.
Hats off to journalism for being a part of the Triple Crown run.
exactly rematch them when the both have the same rest
The rest makes a big difference.
@@drewrockwell8000 The only horse capable of beating this one sadly was injured. Tappan Street
@@drewrockwell8000 this was the rematch why yall acting like the derby didn't happen the same way.
Lol with 5 weeks rest not a ture rematch peakness would have been a rematch @joggyjames
Great Race Congratulations to you both 🎉🏆🎉👏❤
Horses nowadays just don't run 3 times in 5 weeks, so major props to Journalism for 1 win and 2 seconds. We'll never know if Sovereignty could have been a Triple Crown winner but his performances in the Derby and Belmont stamped him as the top 3 yr. old in the U.S. Congrats to Junior Alvarado and Bill Mott.
@pokerface8242 Didn't prove he could go a mile and a half big difference, wasn't the Belmont, should have bee named Saratoga Derby.
You obviously think it's called the Belmont Stakes because it's held there you couldn't be more wrong @@mstrunn
Sovereignty proves he is the real deal! He blew the doors off the reporter horse ! Junior Alvarado with a masterful ride ! He had Sovereignty up closer than usual but tracked the reporter horse just like the Derby. Once he got up to him it was Over ! Made me some shackles!! Lol
Journalism had a much tougher campaign and it's not over yet.
What a finish, fantastic race. Congrats Sovereignty and Junior Alverado. ❤🎇🥂🎆
I was going for Sovereignty just like I did at the Kentucky Derby, but I would have been happy if Journalism won. All the horses are amazing, but wow, Sovereignty reigned supreme! That horse knew he would win! Love the way he pranced proudly to the gate before the race !👑❤️👑❤️
What a horse! He will be one of the best in my lifetime
Not really , he had nothing to beat in this racing era. He runs mid field in mine that birds Derby , and most of the others. So just calm down a little
His turn of foot on the dirt is devastating
He had 3 solid moves in him during that race. Most horses have one on their best day.
He’s a monster the way he eats up ground, big colt at 16.3 hands and beautiful deep chest.
@@spiritcreek9813i rewatched the race a few times and it is just incredible how much faster his feet and legs were moving when he passed Journalism going by the eighth pole. You are correct, he is a monster.
Great video! Really enjoyed it.
The race played out so cleanly, it was a true test of what these horses got and Sovereignty left no doubt.
not really one was rested and it was not mile and half
@@drewrockwell8000.. lol ... jeez. Hate you lost
What about the derby? This horse is as close to be winer of the breeders cup and horse of the year.
Lolol lame. Both horses ran the same distance. Sovereignty won, the reporter horse lost. If they meet again it will be the same result. Sorry about your luck
@@davehamann5967 lol agreed 👍
Sovereignty went into another gear down the stretch.
Even at the 'real' belmont distance, that horse would have had it.
@@ginnybaker7788 Truth be known, Mott probably did know of this horse's TC capability, but the Belmont distance this year would not measure up to almost all the previous runnings by the TC winners.
Always does.
@@ginnybaker7788 10+ lengths in hand. More if the idiot jockey had not dropped back at the 1/4 pole.
Actually it was just the Turbocharger that kicked in
wow. Amazing race! Congratulations Sovereignty!
Makes you wonder of that horse 🐎 could have done Tripple crown 👑 fantastic horse!
Congrats to Sovereignty and his team! Also kudos to them for doing what was best for the horse even though it’s *possible* he could’ve gotten a triple crown. Much better to win two than die trying for a third. Journalism is an incredible horse as well! Great job all around!
How many horses have "died" in the 3C races? You're being dramatic. The owners of this horse cheated the 3C out of a proper competition.
It's 1.2mill to win and about 380k for 2nd..
That's the maths
In my opinion
Loved seeing Umberto Rispoli pat Journalism after the wire even though he was 2nd…hats off to an impressive Triple Crown run for him. Such a nice horse 😊😊😊😊
Journalism did not have nearly the amount of rest that Sovereignty had
Thank you for the great content!
Beautiful race!
love both horses but more respect for journalism !!!!! At least he and the owners tried to complete all three TC races and did so! very tough and proved he's a great horse. Proves it take a sensational horse to won the TC. Sovereignty shows greatness if given rest. I'm sure we see another at the duel at the Travers
Very well done, appreciate this video!
Thank You Fox 🦊🏇
Spectacular race!!!
I don’t watch many American races, the cuts in the broadcast are wild but the recap is great. Great horses, very nice race, great spirit
Idk why but I just love sovereignty so much 😭

Same!
Thank you Fox for showing the race
Your videos are always so helpful, thank you!
Awesome race
WHAT A VICTORY ! Don’t think there should be any remorse to miss the Preakness. He was fresh and it showed !!
It was the correct decision to skip given the shorter Belmont distance this year. I don't doubt this horse could have won the Belmont at Belmont Park at a mile-and-a-half as well as the Preakness, but any TC victory would always have an asterisk after it.
@@ValleyoftheRogue lol no way this horse wins at a mile and a half at belmont
@@drewrockwell8000??? Acting like horses are still winded from a race 2-3 weeks before. Know horses better
I do know your horse racing better @@Hunter-nh3yy
FOX has really got to fix their audio mix for the Belmont. With NBC, you can hear Collmus' call easily - I could barely make out the track announcer here.
The best 3 year old in the world. Into Mischief is the best stallion!
In Anerica maybe can't say in the world.
So sorry Sovereignty did not run in the Preakness, we could have had a triple crown winner, what a fantastic horse.
He would have lost in the Preakness because it is a shorter distance where Journalism is much the best.
Frank the announcer gave the best race call ever.👍🏼
I second that!
Wt
hats off to Journalism for running in all three legs of the triple crown while Sovereignty was relaxing at the Spa the last five weeks.
He must have been working out a bit. lol
@@snowman_322working out and racing are two different things. I assume you did see what Journalism had to overcome to win the Preakness.
@@scurvytoothAnd yet he still lost to sovereignty. Twice.
"There was no reason physically why we couldn’t have run in the Preakness. We had no excuse other than we didn’t feel like it.” - Bill Mott
Congrats to Sovereignty. Horse of the year!
Horse of skipping
He's a monster and will be well rested for the Saratoga summer 3yr old races.
@@drewrockwell8000 sour grapes
The small field and advantageous post position allowed for a perfect trip for Sovereignty. He didn't waste it. The horse and jockey were much the best. The public, I'm sure, looks forward to seeing more from them up the road. Congrats to all involved.
What a horse
I know Belmont is still under construction but this is such bullsh*** , the Belmont stakes is a 12 furlong race, u honor that and u do it a track that can accommodate that distance, this was just a first edition of the travers stakes basically, so ridiculous
Dude. you are an absolute loser
Almost identical to the KD…muddy track wasn’t as bad but still a factor
Sovereignty was fresh, Journalism ran 3 in 5 weeks. I want a rematch
You'll get it in the Breeder's Cup.
exactly its easy to win when you have rest like that and its a good horse
@@MikeBodo if they both make it thier never know with injuries sure hope so though
Yes you'll get a rematch, with the same results
You could get one - hopefully later this year in Del Mar, California (that's where the Breeders Cup championship will be held).
Great final time too!!
That was the 4th fastest time ever at Saratoga for that distance.
I knew it would be Sovereignty ❤
I trusted in that ending speed he showed at the Derby. What an incredible win!
If everything goes right for this colt, he'll win the Breeder's in the fall...
no way
People will second guess trainer Bill Mott, but suppose Sovereignty did win the Preakness and the Triple Crown. It wouldn't have meant as much this year because of the shorter distance of the Belmont. It was the right decision for Mott to do both tactically and for the sake of the horse.
No that was not the right move to skip the Preaknes!!!he’s a winner and should have hade a chance to win the triple crown!!is what this sport is about not ducking races!great horse should of hade a chnace to go all in!!!
That stumble had to hurt Journalism. He had to strain some muscles. I'll be surprised if he comes out of this healthy. Horse has great heart.
I agree 100%. The stumble did look serious. I almost thought he was going to trip over.
@lduranceau8046he landed on his bent "wrist" three times. Thanks to God for keeping him safe.
Totalmente de acuerdo contigo corrió lastimado definitivamente 😢, espero que no sea nada grave
yall just type anything, you're not a vet, haven't examined him but have all the answers.
Journalism only horse to run in all 3 legs. Let’s see what will happen in the travers when journalism get rested
I can't wait for that race
Same thing that happened in the derby when journalism was rested.
The connections of Journalism will head back to California to race out there.
They aren't challenging that monster again.
Congrats to Sovereignty. He was my choice even though I never bet. I do not know why though they could not race this race at Aqueduct, they ran races there in the 60s when Belmont was being renovated then. Having it at 1 1/4 miles makes it not a true Belmont
Alot of politics in the game now. They claim they do what they do for the horses but that is a cover. All of the decisions are about money and politics within the industry. Any horse can run in 2 weeks. The condition issue is a canard. The reason they skipped the Preakness has to do with finally getting Maryland racing to bend for the Blue Bloods. Same reason they moved this race out of the City when AQU was perfectly ready to handle a 12 panels dash.
Kentucky has a billion dollar breeding industry to protect. That's what runs HR.
Saratoga a much classier track that’s why
@@VINCE-w2h sounds Racist to me. just does. I used to hear the same concerning Hollywood Park. Kinda why the Great Race Place chat started to be honest.
@@stephenrblv. Just the fact. Sorry😅
Sovereignty as we see could have won the Triple Crown. Time for New York to give an extra week for Belmont. Would also also be good for business. Almost every sport gives the Final match up extra time. 👍
It would cheapen the feat. The Triple Crown is supposed to be tough to win. The shorter distance for this year's Belmont would have cheapened the feat if Sovereignty had run and won the Preakness.
If you change the timeline, you cannot compare them to the greatest horses of the past
Do you know what ruins a great Belmont Stakes? Kathy Hochul presenting the Trophy.
Congratulations to family Mott and their winner beauty. What fun to see such a joyful win!
He should have ran in all three like Journalism...
Meh

@@drewrockwell8000
Stop being salty, Journalist had the option to give the Preakness Stakes a miss, his connections choose to run him, even if Sovereignty had ran a most likely won? He still wouldn't be acknowledged as a genuine Triple Crown winner because this isn't a genuine Belmont Stakes.
